A Ghostly Past
"I was twelve when I met a ghost," said my grandmother. "It was like nothing you could ever imagine.
"Will you tell us the story?" my sister asked.
"As long as you don't interupt."
"Okay. We won't," I said.
"It was 1951..."
*************
In the year 1951, Jenny, a resident of the town, Prostage, did what no one else dared to do. Go into the Foster's house, which had been abandoned over twenty years ago.
Back then, truth or dare was very popular. Jenny wanted a change, so she said dare. Her friend, Caitlyn, dared her to stay inside there for ten minutes straight...
**************
"I'll do it," I say, agreeing to do the worst dare imaginable. We walked to the house, and they all urged me to open the gate and go inside. I gathered up all my courage, and went inside. When I got to the door, I turned around and looked at my friends one last time.
I entered, to see candles flickering. How were they still lit? I shaked these thoughts off, and sat down in the leather chair. I closed my eyes to rest.
I heard a noise coming from upstairs. "Whose there?" No answer. "Caitlyn, I swear to God if you're trying to scare me I'll-" The candles went out. I started to scream.
"It's alright," said a friendly voice. "I'm not going to hurt you." I hadn't realized I closed my eyes again, until I opened them. In front of me stood a young boy.
"You startled me." I thought something was wierd about him.
"I am Joshua Parker," he said.
"Jenny Langster." I tried to shake his hand, but I kept touching nothing. "Is something wrong with your hand?"
"Why, yes there is. You see, I am a ghost," he explained.
"A ghost!" I screamed. I turned around and ran out of the door, to my friends. I think I peed my pants. "How long was I in there?" I asked as soon as I got to my friends.
"Oh, little miss daredevil's scared," said some random girl.
"Twenty minutes," answered Caitlyn. "I was just about to go get you." I knew it wasn't true. She hated
scary things.
"Oh," was my genius reply.
"What happened in there?" I shook my head.
"Nothing. I'm just glad it's over." Then we started back to my house to forget this horrible tragedy.
*************
"No way, grandma!" I exclaimed.
"Way," she said, smiling.
"I hope that doesn't happen to me."
"Of course it won't. You know how the saying goes. Nothing is repeated twice."
