I woke early. Sunlight had not filtered through the window, the birds were silent, I climbed out of bed. It was chilly, the winter weather was always the worse time for me because the basment was chilled in the summer it was a thousand times worse in winter. I shivered then threw on a dress, pulled a brush through my tousled hair and ran as fast as I could upstairs.

I was late. He was awake.
Father looked down at me, I knew he hated me, I look exactly like Helena, his wife. She is long gone now, she left and never came back for me. Shows how loved I am.
