Mom had returned home a couple of times in two months and she was, even more, busier than before.  I was becoming so frustrated because she told me she was focusing on being home more but that wasn't the case, as her journeys away from home were becoming quite extensive.  It had been three weeks since she'd been gone but she called me every day.  We would talk for about an hour and then she'd have to go and dad's job was keeping him pretty busy it was to the point to where I hardly saw either one of them.  Loneliness and boredom had consumed me and soon it will be time to return to school, what a great summer I was having, as I sliced me a piece of cake and poured a glass of milk.  I sat in the kitchen breakfast nook gazing out while I ate my piece of cake when I decided to call my friend Danielle.

 

“Hey girl, what's up?”

 

“Hey girl, just sitting here waiting for my cousin to pick me up so we can go get a manicure and pedicure.  It's her treat so I'm down with that!  So what you've been up to girl?”

 

“Girl bored as hell!  After dance practice, I'm just in here.  I think I've watched every good movie and read every good book I can find.  And neither one of my parents is here so it's just little ole me!”

 

“Aw, sounds like a real drag girl!  You really need to get out of that house!  When will your mom be back?”

Jonathan was a handsome sixteen-year-old hunk that lived in the cul-de-sac a couple blocks over from us and would ride his nice Suzuki bike down our street, supposedly to get Danielle's attention.

It was shortly after I hung up from talking with Danielle when I heard keys jiggling in the doorknob of the kitchen foyer from the garage entry and to my surprise, it was my brother Rodrick and accompanying him was his girlfriend Autumn with another guy who happened to be her brother Nick.

 

“Hey, lil sis!”  He greeted.

 

“Heey!”  We embraced.

They all seemed so happy.  Autumn introduced her brother Nick to me and he was very cute!  They bought pizzas and wine coolers and for a while, we all hung out in the family room kicking it.  Rodrick wanted to jam the new Jaheim CD then he and Autumn disappeared upstairs to his bedroom, leaving me and Nick to get acquainted.  He was age eighteen, 5'11 hunk of sweetness that I didn't mind getting to know. He would be graduating the upcoming school year and planned to go off to college in the fall, either to the University of Arkansas or Texas Tech.  He's on the varsity basketball team, he loves movies, plays and to add, he has his own car.  He became quite interested when I told him I loved the theatricals and that I was a dancer.  Of course, he didn't believe I was only fourteen because he claimed I seemed so mature for my age.  He was also very funny, he made me laugh and I was truly enjoying his company when suddenly the doorbell rang.  I excused myself from Nick to go answer it and due to imperfect timing, it was Cory.

 

“Heey!”  I greeted stepping outside of the door to join him.

 

“Hey girl, what's up?”  He inquired.

 

“Oh just kicking it with my brother and his girlfriend.”

 

“Oh yea, well let me holla at Rodrick, I haven't seen him in a while!”  He tried to barge in but I hindered him from entering.

 

“Well actually he's entertaining his girlfriend right now so I guess you'll have to catch him at another time.”

 

“Well, why don't I just come in and entertain you!”  He insisted.

 

“Actually I'm in the middle of something right now Cory and I can't stop but I'll call you a little later and maybe we can hook up then okay!”  I gave him a little kiss to send him on his way.

 

He became a little suspicious and he wasn't too happy that I turned him away as oppose to be welcoming him with open arms but I was becoming quite interested in Nick and that's all that mattered to me at that moment.

 

I returned and joined Nick on the love seat and we continued our talk, he was so amusingly intriguing and I knew soon he was going to be the new man in my life, being that he wasn't seeing anyone at the time.  I'm sure that's why Autumn encouraged him to come along so that we could meet, speaking of which, she and my brother disappeared upstairs for a very long time and I'm sure they were up there catching up since Rodrick had been gone for a while on a job assignment.

 

Later they came back into the family room looking refreshed and Rodrick mentioned that he wanted to treat us all out on the town that evening in his new fully loaded shiny black Dodge Charger XLT that he drove into the garage.  It had black and silver interior and shiny twenty-crone-alloy wheels, it was a beautiful looking automobile.

 

“Deja, go change clothes girl!  Let's go have some fun!”  My brother suggested.

 

I was overwhelmed because fun was exactly what I needed.  So I dashed off to my room to find something cute that would accentuate my figure and I found the perfect little outfit and I knew Nick would agree.
