Palemore

I stood in front of Aken. His nose flaring. He looked at me glaring. His breath leaving his lips with great force. I smiled slightly. I held my hood close to my face, making sure My face was covered from there sight. The rain poured down. It hitting against my hood. I held my shoes and legs tightly together. My hands ready to go. The rain pounded against the ground in sheets against the clearing. Aken held his side in pain. His brown hair matted down now. He kept his emotions held inside, knowing that every clan was now watching. He then raised his hands clasping them together. I waited patiently and calmly, controlling my breathing. I kept my eyes on him, my hands up and ready to come forward to exert everything I had left. A thin metallic circle came in between us. I looked at it briefly. Blue flames arose in the circle. I was guessing it being a barrier from the rain. I then noticed the words being muttered from Aken’s lips.

“Por la morte....” Those main words were all I needed. Por La morte was used to mean encaging your enemy. I quickly brought my hands up to my chest. Closing my eyes and focusing on 4 elements. Earth, water, fire and wind. I concentrated feeling my hands start to burn. I then heard a high screech of pain. I kept my focus on the elements. My hands burning then a feeling of a cool liquid came against my hands. The sound of crashing waves now filling the clearing. I waited knowing the rest would fall after. I smiled lightly as screams and gasps arose from the sides of the clearing and from my opponent.. I cracked my neck, unclasping my hands. I opened my eyes. The trees around the clearing now pulled up from there roots, people from other clans or our ‘audience’ now gone, the grass now brown, and a mound of dirt surrounded my opponent. He laid on the ground. His body twitching slightly. I walked over to my opponent his body still at it’s stage of twitching, I came closer to him. Kneeling beside Aken. I tilted my head. He was sprawled against the ground. I put my index fingers on his neck.

“One....Two........I wasn’t nice to you at all now was I?” I muttered. I gently pulled his body so his shoulders were squared. I laid my hands on his chest. Heat came through my hands. I closed my eyes tight and concentrated. Aken’s body shuddered and a gasp escaped his lips. I pulled my hands off of his body. Aken coughed and he looked at me weakly. I sighed and stood up abruptly and turned away from him. I glanced around the clearing. It was so beautiful. I thought slightly then turned to Aken.

“Your cleaning this up.” I muttered. He looked at me in disbelief.

“I...Why did you help me? I’ve been against many that just have left me here to die..Why didn’t you?” He asked his blue eyes showing nothing but exahaustion. I chuckled.

“Because I didn’t want to do all of this. Do you see all this? I don’t like cleaning and fixing things.” I muttered giving the boy a slight smile. Aken’s clothes were smothered in dirt, along with his face. Making his blue eyes bug out. He nodded and smiled gratefully. I turned and pushed through the brush and made my way to the Palemore house. I pushed through until I was where I needed to be. A pathway that led to Palemore. It was so beautiful. Even when the rain poured down on it. Palemore had a dirt pathway that had flowers and tulips and bushes along with trees along it. The trees had moss against there bark. I walked faster down the pathway. My head held high. The stage I had been fighting for for months on end was finally mine. I finally came sight to Palemore. Palemore wasn’t a regular house. Well it wasn’t until you went inside. I looked up at the big massive tree ahead of me. Its branches covered in leaves and its bark a dark brown with patches of green, it’s roots long and thick sprawled everywhere and stones lying around it in patches. I walked closer to the tree stepping over roots and stones. I put my hnd against the tree.

“Meine leben ist zu sie.” I muttered meaning My life unto you in german. The bark in the center of the tree pushed open silently. I ducked and stepped inside. The bark pulling back together. The wooden flooring under my feet squeeked at the touch of my wet shoes. I looked to my left and to my right. No movement. No noise. My eyebrows furrowed. When you first step in to the Palemore house its slightly dark. Everything wooden and the first thing for you to see is bark and Palemore carved into it very delicately with the founding members and leaders underneath. I smiled slightly at the sight of my father and mothers names at the top of the list. The list carrying 30 members deceased and living. I turned to my left. Our home was very different from other clans.
The very big one being our home was inside a tree but it was for security. Other differences being how our home didn’t look like military bases and foster homes like others to blend. Our home was famous for its students not for its home which needs credit in itself. Palemore has many rival clans. Our clan was the strongest and the most feared among clans other then our biggest rival the Lemesh.
I looked at the design in front of me. It containing a light etched circle with flames in the middle and specks around it. I pulled the sleeve of my hoodie down slightly. I lifted my arm up. A tattoo the same as the design on my wrist. I held it in front of it. A small distance away. The tattoo glowed and my wrist began to tingle. The wall then disapeared. I walked through. Wooden floors with purple painted walls that had photo’s of Palemore’s many honors.

“Mason!” I heard someone screech. I cringed at the sound. I turned to see Ash. His mixture of black and blue hair flailing. I sighed.

“Yes?” I asked. He stopped in front of me. He panted and breathed in forcefully to catch his breath.

“We’re having a meeting your mother told me to come and get you.” He said. I looked at him horrified. If my mother was there it meant it was important enough for her to leave europe and come here. I pushed passed Ash and started running towards the confrance room. I ran faster and faster. Passing door after door. I finally met the big cherry wood doors with brass handles. I laid my hands on the handles and pulled them open. A large table resided in the middle my mother at the head of it. Wearing her long black dress the sleeves going down to her wrists and the hem ending at her knees, where her high heeled leather boots ended. Her black hair in curls ending at her waist. I hardly noticed the rest of the students sitting around the table. My seat open beside my mother.I walked quickly to my seat. I sat down quickly. My mother clasped her hands.

“Now that everyone is here. We have some...bad news to discuss.” She muttered looking down at me. I sighed pulling my hood down. I rested my hands in front of me on the table.

“We have a situation with the lemesh.” I looked around the table to see students and even leaders cringe. I slided my shoes against the wooden floor uneasily. My mother sighed.

“The Lemesh have been residing in the dark arts ever since 1000 B.C. when our clans went against each other to defend our lands. But now they have gone to new lengths of being the best out of all clans. Which has not even gotten close to threatening us...until now.” My eyes got wide and I stared at my mother horrified. She laid her hands on the edge of the table.

“They now have been able to take any one of there victims magic. There students and even leaders are able to be more powerful at low magic stages. There are clans like the Clemore’s and the Falemore who have already lost 95% of there students due to this.” I gritted my teeth and my eyes got wide. I looked across the table at my sister. Astrid looked back, glaring slightly. Astrid was like my mother. High cheek bones, dark brown eyes, and black hair that fell to her waist in slight curls. The only difference at the moment was Astrid looked more....different and more noticable to humans. She had blue at the tips and a tattoo of a heart with wings in the center of her hand. But her tattoos that resided all over her body had a purpose. Astrid and I were part of the special ones. She takes it more seriously then I of course. Astrid and I can have tattoos that have meanings as in meaning pain to our victims. She has atleast 5 tattoos some meaning instant death to long painful deaths.

“Now all students are to have a buddy. I know this seems quite juvenile but it’s to keep you all safe.” My mother said pulling her hands to her sides.

“Now I have a plan for who will be with who.” She said clapping her hands and a long peice of paper appeared unraveling itself and it ending at the floor. I crossed my fingers for my mother to not give me Ash again. He’s my friend but horrible at defending anyone but himself. My mother named off name after name. My eyebrows furrowed as the students she named off dissapeared. I cleared my throat.

“Uh...Mom..I mean Miss Foster..What is happening to the other students?” I asked. She stopped abruptly.

“Mason do not interrupt me.” She muttered angrily. I sighed sliding down in my seat.

“Now as I was saying Saphire Garret and Mason Foster.” My eyes widened as my chair started to shake. I held myself back from panicking and closed my eyes. I then lost my breath. I opened my eyes and looked to see that I was in once of the silent rooms. I gasped pulling air into my lungs. I fell off of my chair onto my knees.

“Uh...Are you okay? She said to hold your breath.” I looked up from the floor to see a girl sitting in one of the conferance room chairs. Her hair a bright red that was flat and went down to her shoulders, her cheeks slightly chunky, her eyes a piercing blue with freckles over her nose. Her bang swooped over her left eye. I then noticed a black C that went around the corner of her eye that had lines through the middle of it. I opened my mouth then shut it again.

“Er....I...You...Who are you?” I stuttered. She cocked an eyebrow.

“Saphire.” She said simply. I nodded. I sat back in my chair. She shifted in her seat uncomfterably. I cleared my throat.

“I-”

“This is strictly partnership nothing more. I already have one kid stalking me I don’t need another. I just need to make that clear.” She said strictly. I chuckled. She looked at me and glared.
