The couple walked hand-in-hand, their arms swinging as they walked through the outdoor plaza, streets lamps illuminating the walkways. Dozen of people miled around, browsing the many shops. Multiple conversations mixed in the air, making it hard to decipher what one was saying to to another.
The couple way none other than Harry Styles and Christina Trent, also know as "The Cutest Couple Around" or "Cherry" according to many tabloids. The two didn't mind it really, they thought it was quite cute that the media approved of their relationship.
The fans however, did not. Perhaps it was because it mean the young singer was off the market, or maybe it was because they simply didn't think the two looked good together, or a bit of both. They didn't like it one bit, thought insulting Christina through twitter and yelling harsh things to her while she was out and about.
Somehow though, Christina has been able to brush it off. She was rubber, the cruel words would just bounce off and never bother her again. She was happy and she wasn't going to let any jealous fans ruin that.
Tonight was one of the few nights Harry wasn't stuck in a recording studio or in a tour bus, and he was grateful for it. He hadn't had much time off with management trying to push One Direction's third album, making the 5 lads work more and harder.
He had managed to slip out without any security, which he was grateful for as well. It wouldn't have been much of a proposal if he had Paul hovering over him while we bent down on one knee, invading all of his personal space and just making it awkward.
They had been dating for exactly 2 years now, and Harry couldn't be more head over heels in love. He knew Christina was the one, he had never felt this way before with anyone else. She was the one he wanted to spend the rest of his life with, and he planned on telling her that tonight.
They weren't going to a fancy restaurant or anything extravagant, but an ice cream parlor instead. Not just any ice cream parlor though, the one where they first laid eyes on each other.
Since they had always been drawn to each other, like a pair of magnets. They had been great friends right off the bat, finding that they had a lot in common. It wasn't long after that they decided to give an actual relationship a go. It only went uphill from there.
The pair knew they were at the parlor when the signature candy striped poles in front of it appeared, appearing to be spinning and creating an optical illusion. Harry pulled the door open for Christina, letting her walk inside.
She turned around and looked at Harry expectantly, who was still standing by the entrance. "Are you coming?" she asked innocently.
"Oh, erm, yeah, I have to do something first."
Christina shrugged. "Okay."
Harry let the door fall closed behind him and leaned against one of the metal poles. he sighed, fiddling with the small black, velvet box in his blazer pocket. His palms were sweaty, and his stomach was in knots, to say he was nervous was an understatement.
What if she said no? What if he lost the ring? What if a zombie appeared right as he was about to ask her and everybody panicked.
Everything will be okay, he told himself.
Meanwhile inside, Christina was sitting anxiously at the checkered table. She tapped her fingers on the smooth surface, her bottom lip caught between her teeth as she bit down on it.
It was Friday the thirteenth , and Christina was very superstitious. Normally nothing happened on that day, which was a relief to her, but tonight she had a feeling that something bad was going to happen.
A bead of sweat broke out on her forehead and she increased the speed that her fingers were tapping on the table. Where was Harry? Surely he hadn't ditched her, right? No, of course not, it was their anniversary.
"Maybe I'll go check on him-"
BANG!
