“What happened, my daughter was there to seek protection. Not to be dragged off by the filth of Becerra men.” I could hear the Queen scream.
“Your Majesty, your daughter is at the best protected academy known. There is no need to worry of her safety.” Guardian Teno said fumbling for words.
“Mother, the one who protected me, hasn’t even became a guardian yet. She is my age and magnificent, she’s really something. She chose to protect me not that she had obligations to do so. Mother, she is the best Guardian I have seen.” The Princess stated to her mother. (HAY! Was all that I could think. Even if it was sarcastically.)
“What a Fifteen year old saved my child? Where is this young one? Why is she not a part of this conversation?” the Queen asked and demand, while Guardian Teno motioned for one of them to let me in. Sadly, I already was by using Guardian Gilberts eyes, I was able to see everything.
“Your Majesty, it’s an honor to meet you.” I said.
“Well, it seems that the honor is mine. You’re a Jaren aren’t you?” she asked.
“Yes, Ma’am.” I answered.
“Well, which one from my understanding there are fourteen of you. And from what I am seeing you are a young lady so that narrows it from fourteen to eight. And my daughter says that you are her age, so that takes it down to four. Your markings are green. So that means that you are Rachel Elaine Jaren. Am I correct?” she deduced.
“Yes, Ma’am.” I answered.
“Well, Rachel you just earned yourself A Stolian Medallion. I will get with Guardian Teno to arrange the ceremony.” She said as I froze.
“Thank you, Ma’am.” That was sadly all that I could get out of my mouth.
“Well, thank you for your time.” She said and that basically meant that I could go.
I found my way around the academy to Huegi who was sitting by our favorite tree. Everything in me told me to go over there. Yet, I wanted to know more about what a Stolian Medallion was, I had heard that term before. Yet, I couldn't tell where or when I heard it. So, I decided to go get my computer and look it up. As I decided I saw him look at me as I ran off, and until that moment I had been crying apparently. And I needed to know why. When I got to my computer I was meet by Guardian Selle.
“So, I understand that you have been award a Stolian Medallion. It’s been years since, a student has been awarded that from this academy. Do you know who the last person to receive it, that went here was?” she asked. “No.”
“Wow, really. I would have figured that Zane and ReShuan told you everything about that. Especially, seeing as it was your mother. I figured that was why you are crying…” she said.
“No, I didn’t even know why, I am crying. I should be happy, yet I feel like somethings missing. Thank you for telling that about my mom. I know her name, her favorite things like food, color, and other stuff. I know when she married my dad, and know the same things about him. I know what they said to each other the day that got married. I know their beliefs and religious terms. But, I don’t know anything else. I don’t know what kind people they were or anything like that. Barely know that about my aunts and uncles. Zane refuses to let me know anything else. You know when I was younger I thought that Zane was the best big brother a little girl could have. And now we don’t really see eye to eye, anymore and its things like this that make me wish that it would have been different. Because, everyone else knows everything about their parents and aunts and uncles, yet I am left in the damn dark. Like a two year old who doesn’t even know how to say the color red, right. I’m sorry, I shouldn’t be babbling on like this.” I said.
“No, it’s fine. Everyone always wondered if you were just trying to follow in your mother’s footsteps or if you even knew that your mother was the best Guardian in the world. Guardian Teno hasn’t always been head Guardian, you know. Your mother was head Guardian, before she was murdered.” Guardian Selle told me.
“What do you mean, murdered? Zane said it was an accident.”
“No, it wasn’t accident. No one knows why she and your father were murdered. But, they died protecting you. The reports said that you were found in your mother’s arms as she laid dying. According to the doctor you, even as a baby tried to share your power to save her.” Guardian Selle said. “No, that can’t be true. Why would Zane lie to me?” I asked. “I don’t know.” She told me. I decided that I wasn’t going to drop this, but that I didn’t have time to dwell on it right now. I decided that I needed to face the other things going on. That I needed to be a big girl. I went to my room, changed into something that, I could get all sweaty in. While I worked out and then went to my private gym. I don’t know that I actually decided to stay there for over six hours, but yet that was what happened. It wasn’t until Huegi came in that I even knew exactly how long that I’d been in there. “Hey, babe. I was wondering if you are hungry. You have been in here for an awful lot of time?” He asked coming over to hug and kiss me.
“You, don’t want to do that I’m covered in sweat. What time is it?” I asked.
“It’s a little passed 6:45. Why? Got other plans. And it’s not like I’ve not done this before when you have been all sweaty and gross.” He chuckled at me. “So, you think I’m gross. Nice. Now the truth comes out.” I joked with him.
“Well, why don’t you get cleaned up and we can go out to eat. There is that new bistro that you wanted to try. Or the food court at the mall on the west side.” He said while having his hands around my waist.
“Give me fifteen minutes and I’ll be ready ok.” I went to hit the shower and then changed into something better than what I was wearing when he showed up.
“Wow, you clean up nicely.”
“Why, thank you?” I said as we left.
“Rachel Elaine Jaren, Guardian Teno wishes to speak to you. Also, Guardian Teno has finished making arrangements for us to all leave on Friday for the ceremony and be back Monday afternoon to evening.” Guardian Selle said while dragging us to the office. I had the feeling that I knew what it was about, yet there weren’t that many clues for me to go on.
“Well, I need to inform you that if you are completely white then you are the officially the Alpha of the academy’s pack here. And that adds to the things that you are going to be responsible for. The academy hasn’t had a permanent alpha in over seven centuries and you are now that person. Being the academy’s alpha means that you are now in charge of over eighty percent of the academy.”
“Are you completely white with your fur or just the majority?” Guardian Teno asked.
“Um… not sure. Why?”
“You wouldn’t mind transforming for us. Would you?” she asked. And I did so outside in the hall way.
She found that I was completely white and once I had turned back she told me that I was the academy’s new alpha and that there was some serious new changes and rules I was going to have to follow. She handed me a packet of information and told me to look it over tonight when I got a chance. Then Huegi took me out to eat and we looked over the packet and were both so damn confused that I think we just didn’t know what questions to start with or how to ask these questions. The rest of the evening was spent trying to figure out how to understand and be in my new role as academy alpha at least until I either lost the potion through a student coming and taking it from me or graduating. And seeing as the former is more likely to happen in the next four years of my six than me graduating. Huegi took me back to my dorm apartment and waited with me until I fell asleep as he always does. So, waking up the next morning without him there was nothing new for me. As, I sat up in my bed at my dorm apartment, I thought to myself for several moments that I realized that I didn’t have time to think I had to get up I had an early morning serious supper training session and a one hour meeting with Guardian Teno. And that was before my regularly scheduled training session. So, I got up, went to my closet, and decided that I was going to wear an original dress that I designed two weeks ago and made. It was a green and black strapless, with the right side shoulder of the dress was in a pattern from black to green in short of a rectangle shape on a slant or an angle. And the left side shoulder was curved solid green, covered my body all the way passed my knees, with a spilt on the left side of my left leg. Yet with my green 4½’’ heels it never touched the floor. Not that it would have in the first place it only went down to the top of my feet. My hair was curled into an up do with a hair clip. Part of this is that on Tuesdays, while in Guardian section training morning sessions you are required to dress as if your charge were to be going to a ball and you needed to blend in. I grabbed two changes of clothes plus a third outfit for the rest of the day, my books, laptop, and put it all into my gym bag.
When I got to the ball room where we were being told our assignments. And from the looks of it not a single one of us were getting out of these outfits for quite some time. We were having all day training session with elegant evening wear. Which meant that we would trading charges all day and being attacked all day long and that we wouldn’t be done with training until school officially ended. Some part of me didn’t like or enjoy the sound of me parading around in a ball gown. While Elizabeth and Huegi were still considered civilians. Especially, seeing as Elizabeth has a nasty habit of driving me insane about the dress wear I chose to utilize during these exercises. Let alone she caused forty-six accidents involving my dress wear. I was determined to cut that down to zero this year. The only reason that I ever even noticed that we were going to be in an all-day exercise was that there were enough charges for everyone to have three on the other side of the room facing the opposite direction. The only person ever allowed to know who you had for a charge besides the training leader/ academy alpha and the actual guardians was you. Only
