Vorwort

I was standing between my little sister Chrissy and my hated new stepsister Rose. Behind me, I heard my little brother Jeff playing the piano. And in front of me there was my mother getting married to another man. Looking up into the sky, I saw that the clouds were gone now and that than the sky had turned blue...

Chapter 1

Two more days. I sighed. Two more days until my mom was getting married again. Married to a man with a horrible daughter. Oh, why was the sun going down?
I run my fingers over the glass of my window. A window that belonged to a room that would no longer be mine.
"Come on Cate, what you're waiting for?"
"She's probably waiting for Danny to come around and marry her."
"Marry her? Jeff, you're such a child. Why would anyone want to get married at 16?"
"And anyway it's not Danny but Daniel", I finally joined the conversation of my two little siblings Chrissy and Jeff.
"Okay, what are the three of you still doing up here? I told you to come downstairs ten minutes ago." My mom Avery was walking into sight.
"We were, but Cate wouldn't come", Chrissy said and I gave her an angry glaze.
"Caterina?"
"Don't make a drama out of this. I'm coming."
"Good, Chrystal is driving with you", she simply said and walked away followed by the rest of us.

About ten minutes later I was knocking at my friend Mel's door. But it wasn't Mel or anyone else I knew, who answered the door. No, it was an unknown woman in her early twenties with amazing waist long, light brown hair that had almost the same color as her eyes.
I pulled up my eyebrows. "Do I know you?"
"Not that I'd know. Who are you?"
Before I could answer, I new voice spoke.
"Caty? Is that you?", a man the same age as the woman in front of me asked. Only that this one I knew.
Elvis Marques came into sight and when he saw me, he immediately wrapped his arms around me. When he released me, a grin was on my lips.
"El, who is this?", the woman asked.
"Oh right. Mona, this is Caty Holt. She's Avery's daughter and one of Mel's friends. Caty, this is Monika Mistretta, my girlfriend. Come on in."
We followed him into the living room and before even reaching the door he already called: "Hey Foyed, see who's here, it's our little Caty!"
"Caty?", the guy that was sitting on the sofa asked. He too stood up and hugged me, but unless Elvis he didn't release me but held my face between his hands and studied me threw his light blue-gray eyes.
"Man, Caty, has it really been only two years? You've gotten so old."
I pulled up an eyebrow. "Wow, when did you

get this old? I'm felling like I'm talking to my granny."
He laughed and released me, running a hand threw his dark blonde hair. He and Elvis were twins but after loosing a bet, Elvis had to color his hair black and cut it like Elvis Presley. That was two years ago and while his hair cut changed, the color stayed.
"Well, I sometimes feel the same", another woman said, stood up and offered me her hand. "Lynn Hathaway."
"So you're Lynn", I said shaking her hand. "Foyed talked about you when he was here the last time. Never thought this would last this long."
"Well it may have lasted this long because we doesn't have sex."
Elvis laughed out loud.
"What's so funny about that?", Foyed asked offended.
"It's funny 'cause it's so rare that you don't have sex with a woman you spend this much time with."
"Talking about rare, Elvis, since when do you have girlfriends?" He shot me an angry look but didn't have to answer, because there was someone walking down the stairs.
"Come on boys, why are you stealing my friend?", Mel Geter asked.
Mel was my best friend and Foyed and Elvis were her second cousins.
"Sorry Ma'am. Caty is all yours now."

Chapter 2

Stepping into Mel's room, I realized I was the last one to arrive. My two other best friends Lori Ortega and Vivi Siamon, were already sitting in her room. Lori at Mel's dressing table, straightening her strawberry blonde hair, and Vivi on Mel's sofa.
"So," I said, sitting down beside her. "What are your cousins doin' here?"
Mel pulled up her perfectly plucked eyebrows . "Cate, are missing something? Your mom is getting married in two days and you invited them."
"Oh, right. So how long are they staying?"
"A week. Mom really missed Wayne and he and Peggy will maybe stay even longer, but at least Foyed isn't staying for more than a week. He said his girlfriends are going crazy if he stays longer."
"His girlfriends

? How many does he have right now?"
"Four, I think. Lynn not counted."
"Wow," I said shaking my head. "I thought now that Elvis has a real girlfriend, Foyed would give up his harem, too."
Lori laughed. "The hell would freeze before Foyed gives up his girls."
"And let me guess," I said. "The hell too would freeze before you'd give up your boys."
"Hey," she said. "I'm only dating one guy."
"And still you would break up with Darren, the second you found a hotter one," Mel said.
A grin showed up in Lori's reflection. "Oh, you know me too well, Ms, Geter," she answered and all of us laughed.
