I was so excited on the car ride to the public school, I’m still surprised that my father even let me go to public school. Maybe I would make another new friend, ends up the school is only three blocks away from my house. I could walk with my friend, Julianne. She got me caught up on the standards and what we were learning currently in school, after we discussed the whole powers thing. I suppose that my father wanted me to make mortal friends, thats what he calls them. I went out and bought a cool pencil case, filled it with cool pens and a couple of pencils, a new bag to carry all of my stuff in it, and a box like thing that you can open and put papers in. I’m just so excited, my first time at a public school. When I had finally arrived, I stopped and sat on the concrete near a statue playing with a pile of leaves that was ten feet away for a whole five minutes, trying to calm myself down. I entered the building and a woman ushered me into a small office looking place. Another lady who was typing something on a laptop, looked at me and said hi. “Hello, I’m new to this school.” I had replied in a respectful manner, she might run this whole place.
“Welcome to our school, can I please have your last name?” “My last name is Nikala, Janus Nikala is my full name not including my middle name though.” I was confused. “I will print out your schedule for the first half of the school year, your name is Janus Nikala, right?” “Yes, I am the one and only Janus Nikala. Did I mention that I’m new?” She got up from her desk and walked down a far hallway, turning into a smaller room. Where did she go? She just left me there, all alone, without any idea where to-wait, shes coming back. She has a yellow paper in her hand, she handed it to me. It had letters and numbers, into columns and rows. “What is this? Can I please have somebody to help me?” “Well, there is one person who seems to have an awful lot of classes with you, maybe she could help. I need to make a quick phone call.” She sat back down, those chairs must be really comfortable. She picked up the phone and dialed a number. In about three minutes a person came walking into the office, it was Julianne. “Julianne, you came to help me! My friend came to help me, it’s my first time at school, it’s very odd here.” I gave Julianne a hug when I saw her, I was filled with glee. She grabbed the yellow paper out of my hand and the sitting lady handed her a packet of thinly sliced white paper. “Lets get going, you’re in the class I have right now!” She grabbed me by the wrist and pulled me all around the school and up a staircase, until we reached a hallway with orange metal things lining the walls. She knocked, a tall man answered the door.
“Welcome back, Jewels. You’ve brought us new prey!” This man was odd indeed, he intended to eat me. A girl in the back of the class, braces, brown eyes, and black hair, raised her hand. Why is she raising her hand? The teacher waved an arm at her and the hand went down, he must be a powerful caster if he can do that. He brought me to a seat at a table of two boys and one other girl. I sat at the open seat. “Orange team has a new member. Welcome our new member.” “WELCOME!” The room erupted with screams of welcome’s and hello’s and hey’s and hi’s. I waved to every single person in the whole entire room that I could see from my seat. “We are going to spend a few minutes on meeting everybody in our groups now, even if you know everybody. Five minutes, ready, GO!” This teacher man was very excitable. “Hi, I’m Janus Nikala. I’ve never been to a school before.” I smiled very big. A boy with a skater shirt, braces, blonde hair, and blue eyes flicked his hair to the side and rolled his eyes. Was I really that rude, disrespectful, or weird?
“Hi, I’m Cassidy. You can call me Cass though. Welcome to orange team, this is your new maths class.” The girl who was raising her hand earlier was in my group. “I’m Jake, don’t mess with me.” The blonde boy wasn't very nice, he wasn’t very tall either. I was the tallest person in this whole class. “I’m Thomas, I’m excited to work with you. How good are you at maths, wait that doesn’t really matter. Our team always loses, if you good enough, you can advance to a new team.” Thomas had brown hair, an owl tattoo on his neck, an ear piercing, and was very sarcastic. “What is the teachers name?” “That teacher, he’s Mr.Simmons. He’s a joke. All of the teachers laugh at him all the time.” Cass answered my question, maybe she would be another one of my friends. I left two minutes before everybody else, I got to walk and find all of the numbers on my schedule, then I went to History class, with Mrs.Johnson as a teacher. I enjoyed my first day at school, I am going to enjoy meeting all new people.
JulianneIt was her first day at school, she liked it. Our school is terrible. I can’t believe that she has powers, it’s just too weird. When I got home from school, my sisters were home(Sylvia and Abby. Not Lily.). My mother already knew, we told her that Lily ran away though. She wouldn’t be able to handle the fact that she was dead, I could barely handle that she was dead. The brothers were probably being picked up from school, right now by either mom or dad. I was looking forwards to when they got home, I don’t know why. As I walked into the house, Abby shouted at Sylvia. They were fighting over the couch, I walked past them and into the backyard. I looked over to where Lily usually sits doing her homework and instead I saw her dead ghost laying in her lawn chair. I was really upset at Janus, but I had something that I could use against her, her powers. I heard her, from my backyard. Her father, I think it was her father, yelling at her to leave the house.
I quickly sprinted, jumped the wooden fence, and ran to her house. Why was I doing this? When I got to her house, I started walking towards the door when it opened. I saw somebody that looked like her mother or her aunt standing in the hallway, at least thirty feet from the door. She just blankly stared at me, then fell down towards me. I flipped her body over, I still wasn’t sure if she was dead or not, she had the same mark as my sister. Janus had killed her own mother, or aunt, the same way she killed my sister. She was completely insane, maybe I should just tell her to leave the whole town alone and to get her family out of here. That would be weird though, somebody moving to this town, then moving away abruptly. I stepped further into the house, and found the staircase. I crept upstairs, knocking on her door. She pulled the door open, without actually standing and opening it.
“What are you doing here?!” She was screaming at me, good thing nobody appeared to be home. “I came to come see you, I heard your father yelling at you in the backyard. When I got here, I saw your mother dead on the floor in the hallway. She had the same markings as my sister did, on her forehead.” I got straight to the point, she had been crying. Why? I stepped closer to her, she slammed the door shut with an ivy vine and shielded the door from being open with vines. Is this what she meant by naturalist? She continued to cry, a darker shadowy figure of her stepped out from her body, this is very weird. “I can’t control my darker side, you might want to stay near me. I can fight her.” She stood, the shadowy version stepped further away from me. I was so confused and scared, I tried to slam the door down.
The dark version was just standing, the window shattered all over the inside of the room. My hand was cut and I was bleeding, I needed a bandage. Janus stepped over to me, never turning her back towards the dark person. She used a giant tulip bud to trap the shadow figure, that held her off for a few minutes. A family member of Janus came barging in through the window. I believe it was her cousin, from what she told me she only had girl cousins and this person was another girl. She took out a blade from her high boots. She sliced open the bud and sliced the shadowy figures arms. The figure shoved her off and she went sprawling across the floor. A giant whirlwind of leaves came in through the window and started to circle around me. Maybe it was like a forcefield type thing, I really wasn’t sure. I sure didn’t dare try to touch it though. I could barely see through it, but when it stopped it was really bad…
JanusI tried to protect Julianne by using a fallen leaves whirlwind. I didn’t want her to get hurt. The fight was intense, most people don’t have to struggle as much when fighting their darker sides, but most people don’t have a living darker side. It was getting tougher and tougher to train because I was now going to school, I had homework and practicing that needed to be done. While my opposite figure can practice for longer and for more,
