The day began with the same boring start. The sun was up and burning everything in its sight. Living things tried to stay cool by taking the long shady paths. However hard they tried there came openings that they could not avoid.
The buzz of the daily activities was now at high level. Business people doing what they always do, that is rip customers off. Stores filled with tempting goods that were begging to be bought. Exciting chatter from the crowds of adults and children was every where.
The day was now changing over to evening as the sun begun its hide and seek game. The day time excitment gave way to peaceful evening plans. Mom and dad retired to their favorite chairs in the living room. Their children just being what all children do. It was as tho they were not expecting any danger or misfortune to hit.
At nine sharp mom and dad send the kids to bed. They went through their usual fuss not wanting to end the fun.
"There will be more fun time tomorrow. Right now you need your rest so thar you won't be crappy" was always the answer.
"Okay mom. We can't wait to see what new adventures tomorrow brings. Night."
"Night and may the angels stand guard over you."
Back in the living room dad was checking out the stock markets.
"Hmm I see the American economy is still bad. Well that's their problem. We have enough of our own."
" Now dear don't you think we should try to help those poor stuborn people? They have been kind enough to help us."
"You know we should not get involved in other nations troubles. Yes you're right about them helping us. If they want to be laughed at I have no problem with that."
"Well I'm gonna hit the sack. See you later dear. Let's try not to make the gods of nature mad tonight." was her last reply.
Little did she realize the truth of her words. The city became filled with night time activity. Loud rock bands could be heard blocks from the source. It was just like any other all night zone.
At three in the morning things really started to change for the worse. The quiet peace was dirupted by a loud continous rumble. All the buildings shocked violently from side to side. Heavy thick chunks of concrete walls gave up and came tumbling down like feathers. City streets split wide open. Bodies of every living thing were trapped buried alive. Some were not lucky and were crushed.
Those who were lucky wandered around mindlessly in the dark. Normality took hold with the first rays of dawn. Family members began searching through huges piles of concerte and dirt for loved ones. Cries for help fell on deaf ears. Dead bodies of adults and children lined the streets in large numbers.
Crowds gathered for a discussion on plans. Not having the heavy machines made decision making difficult.
"What are we going to do?" was the question asked over and over again. "We do not have food, water, and shelter."
"Let's search for our family members instead of waiting. God help us. I have never felt so lost and hopelessly unable to do anything."
Help from around the world slowly came daily. Choas was bought under control. Clean up crews removed heavy slabs. It was a slow, but steady process.
