Chapter 1

Once upon a time there was a girl with a brother name Ricky. Everyday she got teased on because of him, ' Ricky’s sis'. No one remembered her real name not even her brother or parents. She hated her real name so she never told it until one day she forgot as well. She just lets everyone call her whatever they want. They usually called her Ricky's sis.

One day in her science class the new student asked her what her name is. His name was Jacob; he was a cute boy with short curls and butterscotch brown eyes. He came from a place in the west with his family. He sat next to her for almost every class because the seats next to her were the only ones available; no one sat next to Ricky’s sis until Jacob. He probably never heard of Ricky. She knew he would call her by the name everyone calls her by. She told him "Ricky's sis", but it was only louder than a whisper. Confusion shot through his face. He disagreed “No that’s only a nick name". Now she was confused, "but that’s the only name I got". Jacob asked “Don’t you have a real name?" She shook her head mutely. Jacob chuckled, "of course you do." The laughing stopped when he read her face and knew she wasn’t joking. Jacob asked, "Well, do you want one?"Then she said, “what for everyone still calls me Ricky’s sis". Jacob just shook his head and said, "Everyone called you that because you let them, I bet if you told them another name to call you or if a person called you by the other name than everyone will, I could call you by a name you want". She nodded her head, content.”Then which name do you want?”, “I don’t know”, she admitted. Jacob eyes looked her over. Then he said,”I can think of one. You look like a…..Janet or Janie”. “Janet”, she said quickly. She was excited that she finally had a name she liked. Jacob said, “Uh….er…..Janet?” “Yes Jacob”, she almost sang.”I was wondering if you… you know show me around the school and company me in lunch. I don’t know a lot of people and I don’t think I want to eat alone.” he almost babbled. This caught her by surprise. No one has ever wanted to eat lunch with her. “Well, if you want to”, she said. Jacob face got a little happier. “Cool, my first friend in this school”, his grin looked too big for his face.
For the rest of the day they just talked non stop about music, TV shows, memories and families .Not even the teacher stopped them, when they got caught they would pass notes to each other.
In lunch they sat together and ate quietly, until Jacob said, “so Janet, what are you doing after school?” Janet didn’t know what this was heading to, so she just said, “Nothing, homework”, and kept chewing on her piece of pizza. He turned his head so she couldn’t see his face, she couldn’t be sure but it looked like he was blushing.”Why do you ask?” “Well…. er…. I just wanted to ask if you would want to go to the…. park….with me…like a date?”Janet blushed also and said “Well um I guess yeah”. Jacob smiled too big again.
After school Jacob went to Janet’s house to meet her brother, Ricky.
