It was the holiday Sara loved the most. It was almost Valentines Day. Valentines Day was only one day away. Today, it was Friday. Everyone was giving out addresses. So, people can mail cards since, we don’t have school on Saturday. I gave my address to every twenty-nine student in my class. It took me a long time to write it down, but it was worth it. I got Jordan’s in return. Well, everybody did. But, I got it too. Then, we sat at our desks. We were cleaning up our desks so we could have Valentine cookies and some punch. I wiped my desk, slowly, thinking about Jordan. “What are you thinking about again?” My friend, Lexis asked. Jordan. I thought. But my words came out, “Nothing.” Lexis looked at me, smiling mysteriously. “I know you got something in your brain,” She said. “Or someone.” Her smile grew to a wide grin. I started smiling a lot myself that day. I went home with Lexis, walking after school. “Do you have a crush?” I teased Lexis. “I do,” She said, looking up in the blue sky. “Jordan.” I walked faster to catch up to her. “Did I hear you right?” I asked. “Ha, I was kidding. Kevin.” Lexis smiled. “Young lady, I don’t like never to be love.” I said. “We may get married and have kids,” I cutted Lexis off. “Woah, too much information,” Lexis and me laughed. Then, we parted away and headed straight home. I ran inside and stuck my head into my homework. I am not a homework lover. I just want to pass time. It takes me one hour to do homework and dinner will be in one hour. I started on English. Then, I did Algebra, my favorite if I had to choose. I looked at every problem twice. And I checked them with my smart brain, and soon, it was six. I heard the smell of food downstairs. But, it smelled bad. I wrinkled my nose and pinched it up. “Food is ready, come down Sara!” My mom called. I pinched my nose and ran downstairs. “Tonight, we made dinner together.” Mom and dad sang. I saw meatloaf and cabbage soup. Way to go to start yuck. I thought. Then I grabbed a silver spoon and tasted the soup. It tasted yucky. And then, I tasted the meatloaf. It tasted okay. We bought it at the store so, you can’t ruin that. But mostly, everything was spoiled. And when I looked in the fridge, I saw something more spoiled. The milk I wanted to drink. Love is yucky! I thought.
After the terrible dinner I had yesterday, I didn’t want to sleep anymore. I woke up at 7:00 A.M. And I sat by my window, still curled up in my pajamas, watching for when the mail man or woman comes. I really want some Valentine cards on my bed. And finally, I saw the mail women come. Her hair was bunned together and her dress was lime green. The lady dropped the mail in the mailbox and went away. I jumped with joy. And I ran down to the mailbox, without even changing my clothes. I looked in the mail and saw four bills, and the rest was all mines. I ran inside carrying the cards and letters. I sat on my comfy bed and looked at them. Something seems wrong. I thought. I counted them and I found out there was only 19 cards. Someone didn’t give me a card. I thought. I hesitated for a moment that it was Jordan. But then, I counted them again. Still, I counted 19 cards. What a surprise? I thought. “Jordan,” I murmured. I teared up the first three I saw. I was angry. Or actually, I was sad. I could feel the heat. I couldn’t look at the cards. I putted them in my desk and went right back to sleep. I won’t wake up till’ next morning. I thought. I slammed a pillow on my face. Then, on Sunday morning, I woke up. I was feeling better. But, I felt like coughing. I coughed. I choked. And I had a surprise. My mom made me a yummy cake to celebrate my most favorite holiday. But, after she saw me sick. She threw away the cake and made me special chicken soup. Surprise! Surprise! I thought. I got two surprises. All wrapped up in one. How can this get an ending. I thought.
I don’t get it. I thought. It was Monday morning. Everyone was talking about ‘The Dance’. I wondered about it. Then, Lexis went running over to me. “The Dance is today! The dance is today,” Lexis shouted, as she jumped. “And Kevin asked me to the dance!” Lexis sounded very excited. I looked at her. “Aren’t you excited?” She squeaked. “I can’t wait,” I said sarcastically. “I don’t have a someone to ask me out.” Lexis looked sad again. “Too bad,” Lexis started. “Well, I have one. Find one your own size.” Lexis skipped away to the gym. Her dress was right by her. Then, she tripped right when she got to the door. “Ouch.” I heard. Everyone started giggling and laughing. And then I had a thought. I do hate those sudden romances like Romeo and Juliet but, I want one date. I can do the real thing next time. Right now, I don’t want to be dateless. I thought. I was wearing a pink shirt and jeans. I got to change. I thought. I went to the restroom and changed my cloth to a yellow dress I had in my backpack. I putted it on and ran toward the gym. I saw everyone walking so I slowed down a little. Everyone looked very in love even some didn’t know each other, and they looked just like a adult. And we are just in middle school. I went in the gym and saw a room full of boys and girls. They were all dancing slowly to the romantic music playing. I searched the room for Jordan. Then, I saw Jordan at the punch bowl. “Hey—,” I cutted Jordan off. “Let’s dance, talk later,” I said. “Okay,” Jordan said, confused. We slow danced and I watched couples smooching. I always thought it was disgusting when my mom and dad did it but, I think I am ready for it. I know it. As we danced, I licked my lips and I kissed Jordan. He was very surprised. “What did you just do,” He asked. I laughed a little. “Ha ha,” He said. “But—,” Right before he could finish what he was going to say, the funky music came on. “Let’s dance,” I said. “Well, for this music, sure” He said. He swung me around and I danced around. We were all like crazy monkeys. All of us. It was like lovestruck. Love at first sight, how romantic? I never believed in it but, I do now. Maybe, not for sure. It’s a lovestruck. I thought.
