Ready, Set, Let's Just Run!
I am sitting at the front desk waiting for Ahuva to be done with her psychic reading. By the way, this is Connor Turner if you were wondering. Ahuva shot me a worried look right before she went in, so I am just wondering if she is ok. She has been in there awhile but just then Ahuva walks out and runs right for me. That weird man just nods his head, smiles, and walks out. I catch Ahuva as she run into me crying and mumbling โI thought he cared about us, I thought he cared about usโ over and over.
She grabs my arm tight and I just hold her thinking that man hurt her. Iโll kill him if he did. She looks up at me through a tear soaked face and walks me into a room and says โwe have to get out of here Dr. Keels is using our psychic energyโ she says it in such a rush I barely understand but I understand enough. I just look at her believing it but not wanting to. I remember walking into this place for the first time when I was seven and feeling like I was being lied to but not caring. I came to this place for a home and instead I got a family not I am complaining. I remember hearing the story of my birth from the chick at the foster care place many times. My mom was in an emergency C-section and when I came out they laid me on her chest and I healed her instantly. For that she gave me up. So this place for me and like all the other kids is the only place I have ever been able to call home.
โWe have to tell the othersโ is all I say. We run up stairs, I grab Lela, Malachi, and Amanda and pull them into a room. Ahuva comes in, sits, and tells us everything she saw. Lela is the first to talk โbut why would he do this to us. I thought he cared about us but God this is ridiculous, how could I not see this? How could I not have predicted this? God, I think I believe you. I always did get weird feeling from this placeโ that is when she starts to cry. Amanda just looks shocked and Malachi well he just cocks an eyebrow. I watch as the only life I ever knew falls apart.
โWe have to run, you know we canโt stay here, not with him stealing our life energyโ Malachi says I think this is the first time I ever heard him talk but he has a point โand where are we going to go?โ asks Amanda and she has a point too. Malachi doesnโt even blink an eye just says โlook I have a place I used to stay before I came hereโ. (Point two for Malachi) Amanda asks โdoes Dr. Keels know about it?โ (Now theyโre tied). โNopeโ says the smirking Malachi (He is in the lead again). โAnd just how are we going to get there?โ asks the now grinning Amanda (and a tie again).
โEasy, my carโ says the still smirking Malachi (GOD!! This is like a never ending Ping-Pong game). โAnd just where is your car?โ says the smiling Amanda (WILL NO ONE EVER WIN?!?!). โAt the police stationโ says the no longer smirking Malachi โbut it is only down the street we can get there easyโ (and here I thought Amanda won). โHow are we going to get your car from the police, they donโt just give cars to runawaysโ says the now very serious Amanda (and now I am just going to stop counting, this is giving me a headache). Malachi says politely โpick the lock itโs easyโ. โLetโs just say we go along with this, who is going to drive?โ asks Amanda โYou if that is what you wantโ says a sarcastic Malachi โfine letโs goโ was the last thing she said about the topic.
And I think that was the conversation that ended up with me keeping watch as the rest pack to run. I See sadness in every face even Malachi's though he tries to hide it. By midnight, we are at the police garage and Malachi is ready to pick the lock when Lela says "it has a keep out sign on the fence, we could go to jail for trespassing too" "soon you will learn that no 'keep out' sign should keep you out" says the guy with a keep out sign on his bedroom door. We get in and try to find his car when a guard comes out. We jump in the first unlocked car we find and thank the good Lord he didn't see us because I would have probably peed myself if I got caught, I mean that guy was as scary as a rabid pit-bull.
As soon as Malachi sees the coast is clear, we all fall out and keep on with the search. About ten minutes later we found it and all pile in. Malachi in the driver's seat and Ahuva in the passenger's seat because she is good with navigations. Me, Lela, and one grumpy Amanda piled into the back seat. "I thought you said i could drive" Amanda grumbles "I lied" says the driver "wait how do we sneak this out?" asks Lela as soon as we are settled "we don't" says Malachi as he starts his notoriously loud engine. "will we get caught?" I ask Lela and she closes her eyes and says "no because Malachi drives like a maniac" "I haven't even put it in drive yet!" says Malachi "well you better cause the welcoming comity is coming to greet us" says Ahuva
Malachi puts it in reverse and well we ended up on the streets and with very dizzy passengers. Malachi said where his hideout was but Ahuva said to take the long way so the cops, that are now chasing us, would get lost. We were almost there and we had just lost the last cop when I noticed a certain mustang following us. It was Dr. Keels's. I did not just memorize his licence plate but also who would drive their brand new mustang on this rode? So I say "That is a too pretty a car to be driving out here" and there was a collective "what?" so I pointed.
Malachi cursed then said "how could he have possibly found us?!" that is when I notice Lela's phone. "How could you?" I ask and she says "no I didn't do this! why would you think that?" she shows me her phone, I don't see it but it doesn't mean it wasn't there. "You probably just deleted it" says Amanda "it wasn't me" say Lela for like the fifth time. "Then who was it?" asks Ahuva
