INTRODUCTION
Each and every one of us faces countless challenges in our lives. From the moment we are born to the moment we die, we must overcome challenges to our physical, mental, and emotional well-being. There is no way to escape these challenges, and we cannot consciously control many of them. When we are born, our physical constitution dictates whether or not
we will survive our first days; as we mature, the choices we make define our future. As we participate in the vast social networks that connect us with others, very little of what we do or say will influence others on a global scale and/or profound way.

We do, however, have significant influence over those who are closest to us, including ourselves. What we decide in our daily lives can have a direct and profound effect on our friends and families, our coworkers and neighbors, and even those whom we may never personally know but to whom we are connected by proximity and our actions. Most importantly, our decisions control the direction of our lives and have the power to bring us misery or happiness, poverty or wealth, illness or health. Our decisions
chart the path that we will take and influence the quality of our lives.

Sadly, so few of us recognize the areas of our lives we do have control over or that our decisions are investments in our future. Those who do appreciate the consequences of their decisions are in a position to evaluate their choices and select a path that will lead to a desirable outcome. Others who fail to possess these talents may believe that they are powerless and lack the ability to change the direction of their lives for the better.

When we recognize that we control our own decisions, we recognize that we have the power to control our lives. This is no small thing! When we accept that we are intelligent, empowered persons who can make decisions that affect ourselves and others, we take ownership of those decisions and engage in choices that are ethical, appropriate, and beneficial.
Such decisions will minimize negative consequences and promote positive outcomes for ourselves and others around us.

This is the fourth book in a series of personal development books. The predecessors are The Navigator of Life, Management and Leadership by the 3Ps, and The Mature 64: Living life 8 by 8. I have ventured to highlight information with these previous writings with The Affordability Factor in an effort to assist the reader in understanding the congruency of the information and the building upon the previous books done in this book. It is my belief that The Affordability Factor provides the most liberating information I have been able to garner to date!
