Time To Wake Up

I looked at the final picture I had of us. The final picture of all the memories we shared. A single tear fell and hit the photo as I lit it on fire, making it turn into a page of darkness. Of blackness...just like my life was starting to become.

"Sasha, want to come and help unpack?" my mom called from downstairs. I hurried down and helped her with the box she was holding. "Alright, let me see your wrists." I sighed but complied to her words, showing my forearms. She took each one and examined them from top to bottom.

"Very good, Sasha, they are all healing up and soon enough you won't even need to talk to your therapist anymore," my dad said as he came through the front door.

"What do you guys talk about in there anyways?" my brother, Steven, asked after setting down a box that he acted like weighed a ton.

"Nu-huh, Steven, you know that she doesn't have to tell us what goes on in there. What they talk about is their business and not ours!" my mom replied for me, making me glad I had a mom who actually read the confidentiality agreement before letting me go anywhere near a shrink.

"Don't worry about it, mom. Sooner or later you guys will find it out and then it won't be such a secret anymore," I said with a small frown. The truth is I fell into depression when I was sixteen after losing my virginity to Timothy Haring, the quarterback for the football team. We had been dating for almost three years but then I found out that he had cheated on me with over twenty other girls and had started playing this game about who could steal the most v-cards. I, apparently, was worth one hundred points.

"Don't worry, darling, we'll still love ya! I promise," my dad said, making me laugh a little and lighten up.

"Alright! Who stole the last cookie from the jar?!" my mom yelled in a mock voice of anger and disappointment. We all looked at Steven, who was stuffing his face with something that looked suspiciously like chocolate.

"It wasn't me," he said with his mouth full. We all glared at him some more and he finally fessed up. "Okay! It was me but.. it's only because Sasha told me to!" Mom and dad turned to me and put my hands up in surrender.

"Don't look at me, I was just talking to you about therapy!" Soon my mom started to fake crying, which made us all laugh since she failed at it horribly.

"Don't worry, you'll get better at it... some day," Steven comforted my mom. She smiled and lightly hit his arm. A wide smile spread on my face, making Steven say, "Someone kill me! She's actually smiling!"
