I sighed heavily and decided start walking. I needed to find a place to rest before nightfall. Yet something kept bugging me about that girl, Ivory I think her name was. She was able to see me. I hadn’t recalled allowing her to see me, and if she had then why didn’t she scream and run away when she saw my wings like everyone else? Nothing is making sense anymore.
“Are you done wandering around aimlessly now?” Cyrus called to me. I spun around so fast my head was spinning. “Cyrus?!” I asked shocked. Sure enough it was him walking all slow-like just because I wanted him to hurry up. I crossed my arms and just waited for him to get tired of doing that. Usually he will start running to me in 5,4,3,2, o-. “Kalona!”He yelled and tackled me down to the ground. I couldn’t believe it. Even after everything that had happened he was still the immature guardian angel he usually was.
“So, I see you met my charge.” He said while laughing. “Fine isn’t she?”
My eyes widened in shock. She was HIS charge? How the hell did he get her? Especially
After all the trouble he has been in with girls! “Don’t look so surprised Kalona. I told you one day id get a hot one.” He stated with a mischievous grin. I knew that look. It was the one that said i-got-a-dumbass-idea-to-hang-out-with-her-and-let-her-see-me. Of course, if he had any sense (which he obviously doesn’t) he would just watch over her like all GOOD angels do. But then again I guess I’m not exactly the poster child for good guardians anymore. Then something else struck me as odd. How is he able to be so far from Iv- his charge? Damn my getting to comfortable around a cute girl!
“Hey, Cyrus? How are you so far from your charge?” I asked with curiosity. He paused suddenly, like he had forgotten something. I started to shake my head and began to scold him when he jumped up and said, “Oh, shit! Man I am so dead if she gets hurt!” and flew off like a bat out of hell. Why was I thinking like that? The word hell had never even so much as thought to pop up in my vocabulary before now. Just because I fell didn’t mean I had to act like a damn, there it goes again with the cussing, darn dark angel.
I shook my head slightly and face palmed. Cyrus was such a dumb kid. How he ever qualified to be a guardian was beyond me. Course a lot of things went up over my head now. I still couldn’t fathom a reason why Ivory could see me. I dimly began to wonder if it had anything to do with me being a fallen angel, but if that was the case, why wasn’t my old charge able to see Annabelle? Then as if it was carried by the wind I heard a voice whisper by me. “Things aren’t as they once were.” I shuddered at that. Something told me that the weird shit I was going through was undoubtedly just getting started. That would be just my luck. I looked out into the horizon and the sun was almost down. Shit! I thought to myself. There was no way I would find shelter in time for the sunset hour. All the Fallen Angels would be out and about wreaking havoc. Not to mention the werewolves that would be in a ravenous feeding frenzy. As if to emphasize my point a howl was heard in the distance. A howl that sent chills down my spine. I jumped into the air and flew. The wing on my wings and face was refreshing and cleared my mind. For some reason flying was comforting. It gave me a chance to think without getting distracted. I smiled to myself. My professor had told me about how flying was an escape in more ways than one, but I just figured he was being all philosophical like and trying to annoy me. Come to think of it, a lot of times during his hour long lectures he mentioned things about dark angels….. Now if only I could remember…. I racked my brain for about five minutes, searching for anything I could remember to explain my confusion. I vaguely remember something about wings made of spiritual matter, but that doesn’t explain why they can see ME. Grrrr….. Nothing I could remember even barely explained it. As much as I didn’t want to, I knew I had to ask someone. Problem is, I wasn’t looking forward to going back to hell any time soon. And especially not back to Lucifer’s bitch’s lair. Every molecule in my body shuddered at the mere thought of going back.
Another howl sounded breaking my concentration. This one was closer than the last. The wolves were on the move and if they were, that meant the fallen angels weren’t far behind. I quickened my flight just in time to see the sun disappear behind the horizon. I began to hear the wolves’ heavy paws thudding against the muddy matted earth. They were right under me now. I looked up in just enough time to see a dark angel claw my chest with her jagged razor like nails. “Ahhhh!” I screamed in pain. I clutched my chest and felt the blood pouring out of the gash fast. I tried not to focus on my wound and on my flying so I could get out of there. It did not work. The pain was just too great. Suddenly I felt a tearing in my right wing. The same dark bitch that cut my chest was slicing me up like a cake! I flew to the ground deciding I would rather take my chances with the wolves than her.
As soon as I had gotten my feet planted firmly one the muddy ground I was pounced on by a white wolf. It embedded its claws deep in both of my shoulders, pinning me to the ground. That dog weighed a ton and I couldn’t shove it off. It snarled and took a snap at my face, stopping just inches above it. There was a gasp and then a screech that was cut off by the sound of teeth crunching bone. I took my eyes off the white wolf for a split second to see that another wolf, this one grey and brown, tearing the limbs from the dead fallen angel corpse. It is a big misconception that you cannot kill angels or fallen angels. You can, but it must be done a certain way. And by the looks of that wolf, it knew exactly how to do it. I grimaced and turned back to face the glaring white wolf on top of me. Its sapphire eyes bore into mine as though it could see every secret I had and every imperfection that existed in my soul. Its gaze was uncomfortable but I couldn’t look away. It was as if it was taking all my will power away. Then something unexpected happened. It wined then stepped off of me. I looked around to see six sets of eyes staring at me.
The brown and grey wolf swung its head off to the side and the next thing I knew, I was on top of a black wolf’s back. My eyes widened and I tried to jump off. When I did it snarled and bit my hand. “Gah! What the fuck?”I growled angrily. “Hold on tight serenite.” I looked around for the voice that I had heard. They were wolves, they couldn’t talk. Could they? “Not while we are phased no. but we can communicate telepathically.” The white wolf looked back at me so I assumed it was the one talking. My body stiffened and I felt my heartbeat race. If all this was happening then the guardians council hadn’t told us everything.
