“It’s always the same - I’m in a nightclub, Not any old nightclub but the Old Rainbow Rooms they knocked down to make way for the new cinema and bowling alley. I sense I’m being watched. I can make out a figure standing at the bar. His eyes burn into the back of my neck. Pushing through the crowds I begin to run.
The cold air nips my skin try and catch the night bus. I’m nervously looking behind me hoping I’ve lost him. I begin to relax and enjoy the ride but then he gets on the bus the very next stop I know he’ll find me so I get off at the railway station.
At precisely 2 0’clock the train would slowly pull in. I’d get on board and sit in the carriage but as we head towards the tunnel I can hear his footsteps get nearer and nearer. I can hear his breathing as he slowly opens the door. Then I always wake up screaming.” I sat there waiting for the usual stereotypic response that I’d gotten so used to over the years but instead there was this baffling silence that echoed around his office.
“I see.” He finally spoke
“So what does it mean?”
“Who cares? The problem isn’t the context of the dream. It’s your actual journey.”
“So what do you suggest?” I asked.
“A chaperone. Then this man whoever he is won’t bother you .” He scribbled something down on a piece of paper and handed it to me. “This my number text me when you are on the bus. I will meet you at the station and we will board the train together then if this man bothers you I will send him on his way.”
“Text you? In my dream? Shouldn’t you be mentioning traumatised childhoods or suppressed sexual feelings?” I asked almost blushing.
“That’s very old school. You can put any meaning into a dream you want sexual or otherwise. My way cuts through the crap so to speak. Now remember to text me okay?”

“Hope this works.” I thought as I sent him a text. I sat on the bus like I had in every other dream but nothing felt different, at least not yet. I sensed the figure get on the bus as usual and like on every other occasion I got off at the railway station.
I shivered as I stood on the platform. Suddenly I felt a hand on my shoulder.
“Told you I’d be here!” He winked. “Now let’s get on this train and wait for this stalker to show up.”

As we sat in the carriage facing other I couldn’t help but notice how incredibly handsome he was. I jumped as a dark figure walked past and stopped outside the door. Ever so slowly he pushed it open - I screamed and found myself sitting up in my bed staring into the darkness.
I closed my eyes and fell back asleep and started the dream again. This time, however when the dark figure began to open the door my psychiatrist confronted him. I couldn’t quite hear what was said but he left in quite a hurry.
Opening my eyes I felt a smile appear on my face.

This worked for about a week or but then my dream began to change. “This time he was chasing me into the toilets in the nightclub. “ I stammered. “I’m scared.”
My psychiatrist let out a deep sigh. “Easy fixed. Instead of meeting at the station. I’ll meet you at the nightclub. Try not to look so worried. Together we can fix this.”
“I hope so!” I smiled nervously.

As I sat at my usual table in my dream I stared frantically around the room looking for him.
“Boo!” I felt his hand on my shoulder.
“Very funny!” I retorted rather angrily. “You made me jump.”
“Sorry about that. My this place is very 1980’s! You used hang out here?” He smiled as he sat down next to me.
“Yes I did. Best time of my life.” I sighed.
“That’s why your mind makes reference to it.”
“Well I wish it wouldn’t!” I replied. “It’s…”
“Hush! Don’t look now but I think your stalker is over by the bar.”
“What do we do?” I gasped.
“We dance!” He pulled me onto the dance floor. “Dance with me!”
He twirled me around to the fast music and for the first time in ages I began to enjoy the dream and we both began to giggle.
The lights suddenly dimmed as the music changed to a slow number. I grabbed his hand to lead him off the dance floor but he pulled me close to him and every so slowly we began to sway.
“What are you doing? I don’t do slow songs!” I whispered.
“You do now!” He winked as he held me even closer to him. I tried not to react but as he gently brushed my hair out of my face I could feel my body tremble with delight and as I stared up into his deep brown eyes I found myself surrendering to his passionate kiss.
“Let’s get out of here.” He whispered leading me off the dance floor.
“Where are we going?”
“My place.” He replied softly.

“For a dream this pretty real!” I muttered as I felt his hands gently caressing the small of my back. His kisses got more hot and hungry and I had to remind him we were in the back of a black cab.
“Sorry!” I blushed as the taxi driver stopped.
“Here! Keep the change!” He handed the startled looking driver a £10 note and dragged me up the path to his front door.
“Steady on Casanova!” I muttered as he kissed me again. He opened the door and pulled me inside. Frantically we began ripping each others clothes off and in a frenzy of passion we began to make love.
“Oh God!” I screamed breathlessly as I sat bolt upright in my bed. “How dare he!” I thought as I trembled in shock. “I’m going to kill him!”

I shivered as I pressed the buzzer to his flat. “Wake up! Wake up! I know you’re in there!”
Finally a sleepy voice came over the tannoy. “What?”
“I’ve had another dream! This one has really freaked me out!”
“You’d better come up then!”
I pulled open the door and made my way to his flat. The door was already ajar so I pushed it open.
“I take it the stalker’s gone.” He mumbled sleepily.
“Thanks to you. Yes he has gone but that’s not the problem. You are!” I paced his living room floor not daring to make eye contact with him.
“We danced didn’t we?” He smiled. “What’s wrong with that?
“Nothing. I enjoyed being in your arms. It was a nice feeling.”
“What else happened?” He stared at me as I blushed bright red.
“Oh I see.” He laughed.
“I knew this was a mistake.” I turned to leave but he grabbed my arm.
“No it wasn’t. I know what happened. I was there!” He whispered into my ear.
“So what? You took advantage of me?”
“There is another explanation.” He smiled as he pulled me closer to him. “I’m sorry I just wanted to know if you felt the same way and …”
“Does this answer your question?” I laughed as I kissed him long and hard on the lips.

As we lay there all sweaty from our rigorous lovemaking I began to fall asleep. This time there was no nightclub. This time I was standing in the foyer of the new cinema. Suddenly a black shadow loomed over me.
“You can go now.” I smiled as it began to fade. “I’ve got him now.”…………….
