"Are Miles and Rochelle with us right now?" Stephanie asks me. I look at Rochelle and roll my eyes.
"Yeah." I grunt. Stephanie looks at me with apologetic eyes.
"I know you don't want to be here, but your father and I agree that you need support." I roll my eyes again and slide further down in my seat. Miles pats my shoulder sympathetically. Stephanie straightens her papers and sets them aside on the desk. She tucks her dirty blonde hair behind her ears and clasps her hands.
"Tell me about them. What do they look like, how do they act?" She questions. I sit up and shake my head.
"Rochelle has long wavy black hair and piercing blue eyes. She's short and curvy with a shit load of attitude. There isn't a filter between her thoughts and her mouth. She always says her opinion, even when no one asked for it. Miles is the total opposite. He has light blonde hair and pale blue eyes. He's tall, skinny and almost never talks. But when he does, he's always nice and tries to be as helpful as possible."
I grin at Miles when he blushes. Rochelle glares at me, then pops her gum. Stephanie nods, writing down my answer. I look at the clock above her head. I'm already half an hour late for class.
"Are you still taking you meds?" Stephanie says while typing on her phone. I nod, but then realize she didn't see me.
"Yes." I squeak. She nods again to herself. I count the seconds in my head until the clock strikes 10:35. I stand up and straighten out my sweatshirt. Miles and Rochelle stand up with me. Stephanie looks up at me for a second before going back on her phone.
"Lance isn't here today so I'm sending you to school with Hunter." I groan under my breath. Lance drives me to and from school. He's like my brother. But whenever he's sick or has to deal with a patient, Hunter drives me. Hunter is annoying as hell. He's always hitting on me and trying to impress me. Or just acting like a fucking tool. I shoulder my backpack and trudge outside. I quickly scurry back under the overhang, away from the rain. I smooth my hair down.
"Damn, now my hair is going to get all frizzy." Rochelle complains. I shake my head at her. She pulls her hair back and rips Miles's beanie off his head. She stuffs her hair inside of it, a few curls falling out. Miles runs his fingers through his hair.
"You could ask him, instead of just taking his things." I scold. She shrugs.
"He doesn't mind, right Miles?" She asks. He shakes his head and smiles. I'm about to take the beanie back when Hunter pulls up in his car. But there's someone else in the back. I open the passenger door.
"Ah ah ah. You're sitting in the back with the newbie." He smirks. I slump and shut the door. I shuffle around to the other side and slide into the seat next to the stranger. He scoots slightly to the side, making room. I shove my backpack in between my feet and put on my seatbelt. Miles and Rochelle are squished in between me and the newbie. Obviously he doesn't react to Mile's touch, but I'm pressed against the door. Rochelle's giant boob keeps brushing against my arm and making me really uncomfortable. I try to act like I'm not being squished into the door, but the fact that I'm having trouble breathing isn't helping.
"Um, you okay?" Mr. Stranger asks. I straighten in my seat
"I'm fine. I just have a... cramp." I stutter. He studies me, then shrugs. I elbow Rochelle in the side, trying to make it seem like I'm adjusting my shoulder.
"Ow!" She squeaks and shoves me back. I wince as my shoulder hits the window with a clunk. Hunter looks at me in the mirror. I smile cheekily at him. He grins back and looks at the road. Stranger Danger keeps giving me a weird look. I smile at him, but he just looks away. I click my tongue, trying to ignore the very awkward silence.
"Can you turn on the radio?" I ask Hunter.
"Can you turn me on? The answer is yes." He says, without even putting any effort into coming up with it. I roll my eyes. I sneak a peek at That Guy. He looks taken aback and a little pissed. Hunter turns on the radio and cruises the stations. I kind of regret asking him. He finds a pop station and leaves it. I sigh as "Shake It Off" by T Swift comes on. Mr. Unknown pinches the bridge of his nose. I feel for him. Rochelle sings along. I cringe every time she tries to hit a high note.
"Rochelle," I whisper, "Stop trying to sing when we all know you can't." She gasps in offense and whacks me again. I rub my arm. I see the school in the distance. Miles sees it too and taps Rochelle's shoulder.
"What?" She barks. Miles points to the building. She sighs.
Chapter TwoHunter pulls away, leaving me and Creepoziod in front of the school. I look at him, memorizing his features, for future reference. He is tall and lean, his dark eyes taking in the scenery. His black hair sticks up. He's wearing black skinny jeans and a dark grey t shirt. His black zip up hoodie hangs loose on his shoulders.
"Damn. He is so hot." Rochelle fans herself. Miles nods in agreement. I stifle a giggle. I end up choking on my spit and coughing. Tall, Dark and Handsome looks at me with curious eyes.
"Are you okay?" He asks. Again. I nod, covering my mouth with my arm. Rochelle is just laughing her ass off. I sneak a glare at her. She sobers up long enough for me to stop dying. I clear my throat, look at Mr. Mystery, then start walking towards the doors. After a few steps I hear feet hurrying behind me. The Sloppy Quiff Master comes up next to me.
"Today is my first day. Could you show me to the office?" He asks, not embarrassed at all. Or at least not that I can see. Rochelle slides up beside him and runs a hand down his chest.
"I can show you to my office." She purrs. I bite my lip.
"Sure. I'm already like four hours late." I joke. He smiles and we head towards the doors. He opens the door for me. Since the doors so small it's a little awkward shimming past him, but I can smell his cologne. It's a nice smell. I readjust my backpack as Rochelle strokes Mr. Gentleman's cheek. She giggles to herself and flips her hair. Miles just watches from behind the scenes. I blink, bringing myself back to reality. I nod to the door that says "Office".
"Thanks." He says. He starts heading to the door when he suddenly stops.
"By the way, my name is Greyson." He introduces himself. I smile.
"I'm Toryn." I say back. He smiles and nods, committing my name to memory. He heads into the office. I shuffle away, towards my class. Since I'm almost an hour late everyday, my first class is Study Skills. I open the SS door and head through the maze of tables. Tim and Layla are having a fight. Again. I push past Kai's legs to an empty table in the back. Rochelle falls into a seat in front of me and props her legs on Miles lap. I pull out my drawing notebook and a pencil.
"So, Greyson is freaking sexy as hell." Rochelle sighs. I start sketching a head.
"He is easy on the eyes." I agree. Rochelle swings her legs onto the ground.
"Easy on the eyes? He makes my eyes horny." She laughs. I look up at her with a judging look. She counters my judgement with a wiggle of her eyebrows. I start drawing the shoulders, dragging the line down.
"I wonder if we have any classes with him." She thinks aloud. I shrug, not really paying attention. I look up when I don't hear her say anything else. At the head of my table is Tim. I tense in surprise, then relax. Tim is harmless enough.
"Still talking to yourself Schizo?" He asks sweetly. I raise an eyebrow at him. "Schizo" is my running joke nickname.
"Still single Cherry?" I question back. He glares at me. Cherry is his nickname because he's been turned down by every girl he's ever asked out. And because he's a virgin. He huffs and saunters off. He's just a jackass. I go back to my drawing.
