Chapter One

----Ethel P.O.V----

Hey there, reader! I’m Ethel, water-based dragon. It’s the first day of school, and I’m a bit nervous. Okay, not lying but I’m really stressed. I have been homeschooled my entire life, due to a condition, but I’ll explain that later. It’s my first day of real school! Can’t wait for all the students, and I’m even looking forward to everything! Even tests! I have to go now, the bus is waiting, and from what I know, they only wait about 30 seconds. Gotta go!

………………………………..……….

Perfect! I’m here. So many students, so many dragons! Oh, of course, I’m going to an all dragon school. My mom is a control freak, and insists I’m special and should be with all the other dragons. I listened, because I love to meet others of my kind. After all, we live on Mermaid Street, so by the name, not many dragons live here. Anyways, the bell rings and I head to my homeroom, 9B.

Chapter 2

----Kanary P.O.V----

I look over to the opening door, and see a dragon walk in. Man, look at those scales! And that fantastic mane! He must be a rare water-dragon! I need to know who he i-

“Hey, can  sit here? It’s not taken, right?”

“Uh, no...it’s not taken. Please sit...down!”

The water dragon looks at me with a weird tone, then blushes and smiles.

“I’m Ethel, water-based dragon. And please, refer to me as ‘They’.”

I quickly covered my shocked face, then relaxed and smiled. We then turned around to the teacher calling both our names.

Chapter 3

----Ethel P.O.V----

As I sat next to the dragon beside me, I felt my cheeks burn. I forgot to ask him!

“Hey, uh, who are you again?” I turned to him

“I’m Kanary, with a K. I’m an air-based dragon. I have a sister as well, you might meet her. She’s Skye, and she’s real annoying”, Kanary spoke.

I smiled and blushed “Nice name, Kanary”

“Heh, yours too”

My burning cheeks reddened, and I looked at him, straight in the eyes “My name means ‘Stupid’.”

Chapter 4

----Kanary P.O.V----

I was shocked. Their name, meant STUPID?! I felt like a complete douche. Ethel looked hurt, and when I tried to comfort them, they shooed me away. They then raised their talon, and asked the teacher to go to the bathroom. As Ethel left, I raised my talon and asked as well. When she excused me, I headed to the bathroom. They were not there, for some reason. Wait a minute, THEY LIED! I came back frustrated to the classroom, realizing homeroom ended.

As I grabbed my stuff, I saw a sliver of greenish-blue above some heads, when I was knocked out on the floor, Super Saiyan Mode. As my eyes cleared up, I wasn’t surprised to see my sister, laughing her head off.

“You, FOOL! AHAHAHA you got knocked out! BY ME! AHAHAHAHAHA”

“Whatever, get off”

“Fine. Besides, who were you looking at so intensely?”

I choked on my words, “nobody, no, I was, uh… daydreaming?”

Skye smirked. “Daydreaming, suuure”

My face reddened as I helped myself up, and immediately thought, “I can’t think of them. They must be hurt, I must let them be”, but on the other hand, I wanted to comfort them so badly…

The bell saved me just in time, indicating class was about to start in 5 minutes. I quickly hugged my sister and jogged off to class, hoping Ethel wouldn’t be there.

Chapter 5

----Ethel P.O.V----

The bell rung as I entered class, meaning I was early. I looked around to an empty class, except for the teacher. I glanced on my schedule. Potions, the most boring subject of all. I checked each time when the door opened, hoping Kanary didn’t come.

Class began with a relaxed intro to Potionology. The teacher seemed cool enough, giving us the time to experiment with random mixtures.

This resulted in me creating a brand-new potion the school has not seen before, and I received a praise. Some were asking me how to re-create it, and I felt fantastic, being center of attention.

The bell rang shortly after we packed up, and I scurried out, potion in hand. It was lunch, and I grabbed my bag. Today I had Flumpers, my favorite! I walked down with my paper bag and potion, eager to eat.

Chapter 6

----Kanary P.O.V----

The lunch trays slammed against each other, and I struggled to take one myself. When I finally got the mash they tried to pass of as food, I went to find myself a spot. First thinking to go eat with Skye, yet then remembered her popularity bewtween the “Kawaii Club”, so that was out of option. I eyeballed the group. How childish, but cute.

I glanced over at the other side. Ethel was there, alone, eating what looked like… Flumpers?! Lucky duck, those are amazing, other than this, well, meat. I headed to them, wanting to apologise. They saw me, and glared into my eyes.

Chapter 7

----Ethel P.O.V----

Oh. HIM again. I look ahead of me, straight in the eyes, but part of me softened up to him. He didn’t know, besides, I just met him.

“Hey, uh, sorry-”

“I’m sorry. I didn’t want you to feel bad”

I motioned him to sit down across me, and spoke. “I should have said that in a different way. I was just a bit angry, no, fed up, with what my parents named me.”

“I think you’re name is amazing, it sounds so, hm, astethic and fits well with your personality.”

I blushed a bit, then smiled cutely. Kanary noticed and blushed as well.

Chapter 8

----Kanary P.O.V----

I watched Ethel stand up. They approached me and hugged me. I blushed hard, my cheeks like burning hot flames. I was then released, and Ethel sat back down. We both looked up to the teacher telling we had 10 minutes to finish and head to class. Ethel grabbed my hand, and we took off, heading up the stairs to our lockers.
