Chap 3
โUgh! I hate it Kel. Why does it drive me so crazy?โ Laylahnni asked Kellan as she stirred the Asian rice.
โWhat?โ He asked totally confused.
โBabe you werenโt paying attention to me!โ She whined. โI said that my mom acts like Iโm not even here anymore and she still calls Leo, so why not just come up to my room and talk to me. I mean she doesnโt have to pick up a phone or dial numbers with me. Iโm easier to access, well easier than someone in a war all the way in Iraq. Sometimes she calls him but he cant answer. So she writes him instead. Still I say Iโm easier to reach. Right up the stairs. And I hate that it drives me so crazy and I was wandering why it does.โ she finished with a long, loud sigh and sat back down at the kitchen bar.
โI donโt know Beautiful. Some things are unexplainable. donโt get mad, but, jealousy maybe? Iโm sorry I cant help you there. Or maybe you may even be a little attention deprived--โ
โI DONโT WANT ATTENION!โ she screamed into the phone. Everything was silent for about thirty seconds when she said, โKellan, Baby Iโm sorry. I didnโt mean to yell. Pregnancy hormonesโฆโ she finished realizing what she just said out loud.
She heard the door open and close.
โWhat did you say? Do you mean--โ
โKellan, my moms home. I got to go.โ she said quickly as if he would forget about the screw up.
She hadnโt told Kellan about it yet because she wasnโt sure if she really was pregnant. And if she was she didnโt know what she was going to do. She only knew that no matter what -- whether Kellan left her or not-- she was keeping the baby.
