THESE DRABBLES ARE BASED ON TRUE EVENTS

.

W.J.

Ahmed

It had been such an ordinary life. All flashed before him. School, his lack of dedication; college, his lack of application; career, his lack of ambition; family, his lack of devotion.

The last, he regretted the most. He had never made peace with his father nor resolved that last tiff with his son.

So much left till tomorrow. One tomorrow too late.

He saw the gray blue mountains coming out of the blue like hungry ogres, waiting to sup.

His final words to himself were, "I am sorry". And then his heart stopped, just before the plane burst into flames.

Kiran

She knew what was coming. She was ready, willing. She'd lived fifty six years and had nothing to show for them.

She'd heard passengers died before crashes actually happened; the heart stopped out of shock, knowing that death was seconds away.

She didn't care about any of that.

Maybe the afterlife, would hold more interesting prospects, more chance of love and fulfillment. Maybe all those who'd shown her indifference while she lived, would now pause and note her in death.

She smiled indulgently just before the sharp, paralysing, intense pain of flames licking her skin clean off arrested all thoughts.

Sameer and Fiza

This was supposed to be the Beginning!

Their 'happily ever after'.

Oh God! This could not be IT, this could not be THE END.

He had been her true love, her knight in shining armor, the answer to her prayers. Even now, he sat there looking deep into her frightened eyes, smiling lovingly.

He gently kissed her hand, her wrist and looked into her eyes again. Then suddenly, as though he knew she was too fragile, too precious to witness the cruelty of death, he held her tight and kissed her deep.

She never knew when the kiss was immortalized.
