Starlet: I Meet a Greek Hero and Save a Monster

This story is true and yes, you may not believe it but I think this is okay. You see this is because, when I read what I had written it seems like it is nothing but another fake story to get your hopes up. Yet somehow it was real for me. It may not be a good idea to tell you this story since trouble started for me when I read a book I shouldn’t have read, a lot like this one.
For me the trouble started right after I read the book Percy Jackson & the Olympians, the Lightning Thief. You know, it warns you in the book to not read it if you are or might be a half-blood. I just thought of four things that I now regret.
One, I don’t have any human friends. This means that there are no satyrs thinking that I might be a half blood. Two, I am not dyslexic, plus I love reading. Three, it seemed like an interesting book to read. Four, I knew I wasn’t fully a half-blood.
I never even saw Greek letters before. If I weren’t related to Greece somehow though, then there wouldn’t be a story now would there.

Let me tell you a little information about myself. My full name is Starlet Rose Castely but, most people would call me Star or Rose. I am twelve years old and go to M.E.M.S. my birthday is on Valentine’s Day. I live in New Jersey and it is a lot better and safer than New York.
I know what you are thinking. I know about you and how a story changed your life. What is the story already? Well, hold your horses. I want to get one thing straight though. You can’t blame me because I warned you. Any kind of fate brought by this book is not my fault.
I learned at an early age that a promise can kill you. I mean literally and figuratively. My past is full of lies, deaths, prophecies, curses and broken promises. My past isn’t all bad you know it also, has hope, kept promises, truth, fun, and destiny.

It all started around third period in beta. I just finished the Percy Jackson series books and the Percy Jackson quiz. I was leaving Spanish class going to gym. We had an overlap between gym and Spanish class for around 30 minutes.
So, I choose to go behind the stairs. You see our school has these glass windows that are a bunch of Small Square windows right behind the stairs. When I go there I feel like I am in a whole different world. Later on I would learn why it was so easy for me to go into, what I called la la land at school.
As I started to sing and go into la la land a man walked in the stair way. He was heading towards me, but he didn’t seem to notice I was there. I thought that was weird because I am the only one who really goes there, unless they are hiding from something. He looked like a substitute teacher at the age of at least 22.
He had this look on his face though, like trouble was following him right down the hallway. I didn’t even know if I was in la la land or if the Percy Jackson series was totally true.

Since I knew there was still a lot of time before I had to go to gym I choose to stay where I was. This was another bad idea that I would seem to be prone to doing.
I figured I should learn about this man. Then he was right next to me standing against the wall like me. He still didn’t notice me though because; his eyes were fixed on the door. He held a sword in his hand. I was sure that just a moment ago it was a pen. I took a deep breath and decided to speak up and see what his reaction would be.
I asked,” are you Perseus Jackson? Do you like being called Percy or Perseus more?” then right after I said that he turned around and swung at me.
His swinging sword seemed to slow down for me. He didn’t seem to notice just yet so I decided to drop down to the floor and cover my head.

(4)

When he looked at where my head was before, he was confused to not see me there. I then said,” you know swords are not allowed in school. I would guess they are worse than knives. So, are you Percy Jackson?” He was surprised to see me alive on the ground with my hands still over my head.
He took a long look at me and seemed to decide I wasn’t going to kill him. He then finally answered,” yes, and you are who? How do you even know my name anyway?” I then took a long look at him. I was about to tell him two things when the door to the stair way was opening.
There my friend Jones the Minotaur walked in. he had this gleam in his eyes like when we played behind stairs. Then Percy with the same gleam in his eyes stood out with his sword glowing. They were about to kill each other.
I yelled,” stop!” they both stared at me like I was crazy because the other person was horrible. I walked right in the middle of their fight.

(5)

I then said,” fighting is not the answer to everything Jones you should know this. It is fun to play but fighting him isn’t the smartest idea. You know you would get in big trouble. I’m pretty sure he is not here to hurt anyone.” Jones then answered,” ok, but only if you beat me not to the death though.”
I asked Percy for his sword he questioned but gave it to me any way. I then made Jones swear on the Styx. Oh, the Styx is a river that the gods and goddesses would swear on and they couldn’t break any swears once sworn on the Styx.
He did. So, our battle for fun basically started. I quickly won and Jones knew that would happen. He understood I had some questions I needed to ask Percy so he left, to go back to his protection area.
I was so mad at Percy I could of killed him. I calmed myself down and gave him back his sword. He looked at me even more surprised. Then a satyr (half man half goat), Grover walked in while I was handing Percy’s sword back to him.
Then unluckily for Percy, Annabeth walked in with a kid from my school. The student looked completely confused at everything that was happening to him.

(6)

Annabeth and Percy were whispering about something and since I had extremely good hearing, I knew what they were talking about. Apparently, he was going to kill the Minotaur until I stepped in and battled the Minotaur. He was surprised that I didn’t kill the beast.
After he said that I was so mad, I couldn’t help but yell at him. I screamed,” how could you even call him a beast Percy. Killing him for no reason would be evil. He is very nice and his name is Jones. He is one of my best friends. He does nothing but protect me and the school from evil half-bloods.”
They both stared at me like I was crazy but I did not care. They both said in unison,” you heard us and you can speak Minotaur.” I said something intelligent like duh. They went back to whispering but I tried not to listen.
The easiest way for me to do this would be to talk to someone. I decided to talk to the kid from my school since Grover was looking at me weirdly like I was some type of monster he could not smell.

(7)

I learned that the kid’s name is Alex. He was great at making things especially with metal. He was adopted and was just chased by a giant dog. I knew he was talking about a hellhound but I wasn’t sure if I should tell him. I decided not to because if he would need to know someone else would tell him.
Grover whispered to Percy and Annabeth that I didn’t smell like a half-blood, monster, or a human. I decided to tell them something. They didn’t hear me though because I whispered it. When I whisper it almost is the wind.
So I said,” if you take me to camp half-blood I’ll tell you my family history.” They decided it was worth taking me to camp half-blood because I was obviously not fully human.
I knew the only ones who might notice I’m gone are the teachers and monsters since they are the only ones I talk to.

(8)

Right when we took a step out of the building Alex asked if we’re going to be noticed disappearing like this. Percy and Annabeth answered no, that’s what the mist is for. It doesn’t work on monsters though so what about Jones, I asked.
Everyone but me shrugged and didn’t care. I knew though that trouble would come to them if something bad happened to me because they were watching me now. I thought all of you had better be careful because all of you are in trouble now that we left school.
The second we left New Jersey we met a friend of Percy’s at a place called Grandma Med’s Garden Palace and Enchilada Restaurant. I knew something was wrong with this place. My monster instincts wanted to run away.
The others wouldn’t listen to me they were too hungry and lost. I told them to sniff the air it smells of smoke just follow the scent. The smoke gets stronger to the west of the Grandma Med’s Garden Palace and Enchilada Restaurant.

(9)

We walked in together to the restaurant. They promised me we would just eat and go. As we sat down Annabeth, saw who our server was and said she agreed with me, we have to go now. Everyone else was to hungry to go and realize who Med was.
Once every one was done eating we were about to go when Med asked to get a picture of us next to some of her garden statues. Annabeth, Percy, and I said no right away. This scared Grover and Alex so much they didn’t say a word. That was when Grover realized who Med was.
It was too late though Med took off her mask and we all covered our eyes. I knew I was asking for trouble but I said it any way. “Hey, Medusa don’t you ever get tired of being killed,” I said.
It ticked her off so much she only was paying attention to me, which was just what I wanted.

(10)

I continued by saying, “do you enjoy trying to trick people into looking at you. Do me a favor when I open my eyes look at me straight in the eyes.” Everyone but Medusa and me said no don’t open your eyes. Medusa thought for about three seconds, laughed, and then swore on the Styx.
I opened my eyes and just like she swore, she stared
