me?! I thought you trusted me!” he looked away and then back at her. “I’m your lover, don’t you trust me?”
“Of course I do! It’s just,” she looked at her arm. “I don’t know what’s happening to me.”
Demetri let her go and walked away. Selene sat up and looked at the black marks on her arm and the one that appeared on her neck. She picked up Armageddon and clutched it to her chest tightly. She remembered the conversation she had with her sword earlier.
“Tell me what Gail’s plans were for me, she demanded.
Armageddon looked at her and he sighed as she walked toward him.
“You may not like the truth,” he said.
“I want to know Armageddon, my sword,” she spoke.
He nodded and she sat by him as the water in front of them rippled. He knew the truth would make her shaky, make her unstable, nut he knew he had to obey her demands.
“Gail wanted to make you evil, you know this,“ he looked at her. “You are already a fallen angel because you were evil and killed many people.”
She looked away when he said killed. Gail had turned her evil and killing those people was not her fault.
“The black stuff that he made you drink gradually turned you more evil,” he told her.
“I know that, but it disappeared when I was killed,” she looked at the lake. “It disappeared from my body as well.”
“Not all of it,” he said and her eyes widened. “Some of it is still in your soul. That is part of you now.”
“W-what?” she whispered in a shaky tone.
“You will slowly become evil again,” he touched her shoulder with his tail. “You will either die from it or become a blood thirsty demon.”
Selene hugged her knees to her chest as she shook. Her sword growled a little and she looked at it as tears filled her eyes.
“Does Demetri know, Armageddon?” she asked her sword.
“He does not,” he replied.
Selene nodded and stood up shakily. She walked out of the temple and to a lake, night had already fallen as she walked.
“I don’t want to die, but,” she gripped her sword tight. “I don’t want to become a demon either. Is there any way to stop it?”
“No. Selene I am sorry, but nothing can help you or save you this time,” he replied.
Selene sat her sword against a tree and looked at the moon.
“I see,” she muttered sadly.
She undressed and walked into the lake to clean herself off. The black marks appeared again and she looked away from her arm as she hugged herself tightly.
“I don’t want this!” she thought angrily.
Meanwhile Demetri was still inside the temple as he looked around. He had cooled off a while ago, but the fact still remained that she had hid something from him yet again. He clawed the wall beside him in anger as he growled. Calamity growled softly and he looked at him.
“Calm down Demetri,” it told him.
“Calamity stay out of this!” he growled angrily.
He started to walk out of the room as his anger rose. Calamity wrapped its chains around him and he fell on the ground.
“Calamity release me!” he shouted as he tried to get out.
“I will not!” Calamity growled angrily, making Demetri stop.
Calamity tightened the chains and Demetri let out a cry of pain. He glared at his sword as he growled again.
“You should not be acting like this!” Bliss shouted at him.
“She lied to me again! She dosen’t trust me completely and has lied to me yet again!” he sighed and closed his eyes. “What would you have me do?”
Calamity loosed its chains just a little so Demetri could move his hands. He opened his eyes and looked toward the temple entrance.
“She does not want you to be burden with her problems,” Calamity told him calmly.
“I’m her lover. She should let me help her with her problems, I couldn’t bare seeing her unhappy,” he spoke as his anger faded away.
“She needs you now more than ever, Demetri,” Bliss said and released the chains hold on him.
“What do you mean?” he asked as he glanced at Bliss.
“Ask her yourself when you see her,” she said and the chain disappeared.
Demetri stood up and walked out of the temple as the night air hit him. He remembered when Selene and he went on walks on nights like this. The breeze felt good on his skin, cooling the anger that he had been feeling earlier.
“Selene,” he thought as he walked through the trees.
He saw her in the lake ahead of him and walked toward her. She was washing her hair slowly and he stopped when he noticed dry tear stains on her cheeks. He took of his shirt and walked into the water.
“Selene,” he said as she jumped.
She spun around and looked at him sadly. He took her hand in his and walked closer to her. She looked at him as the wind blew and she shivered. He pulled her to his chest tightly as her eyes widened.
“Selene tell me what’s wrong,” he looked into her sad blue eyes. “What are you not telling me?”
Tears flowed down her cheeks as she looked at him. He put her head against his chest as she cried. Her body trembled and shook as more sobs came from her lips.
“Demetri I’m so sorry… so sorry,” she cried as she put her hands on his chest.
“Don’t apologize,” he stroked her hair softly. “You don’t need to.”
A minute passed as she cried on his chest and she looked up at him. He wiped her tears away with his thumb and smiled a little.
“Demetri I’m going to die or become a demon,” more tears flowed down her cheeks. “Because Gail gave me that black stuff I’m-“
He kissed her gently to silence her as her eyes widened. He parted from her and caressed her cheek gently.
“I won’t let that happen. I’ll find a way to stop it, I promise,” he whispered gently in her ear.
She nodded and hugged him tightly as he hugged her back. A half an hour passed and they were walking toward the temple. He gripped her hand in his as he felt her uncertainty. She looked at him as they stopped and Demetri looked at her.
“What is it?” he asked her.
She shook her head and smiled as the wind blew her hair.
“It’s nothing,” she told him.
He nodded and they walked into the temple. He started a fire and she sat down. He wrapped his arms around her and held him to his chest as the warmth hit them.
“Selene I swear I’ll protect you,” she looked at him. “Even if you become a demon, I’ll still love you.”
She smiled and fell asleep in his arms. He stroked her hair as she slept and his grip tightened on her.
“What if you can’t stop her from becoming a demon?” Calamity asked him.
“I don’t know. But I have to try,” he replied quietly as he fell asleep beside her.

Chapter 20

Quickening

Morning came and Selene woke up as the sun hit her face. She saw Demetri beside her and shivered, making Demetri tighten his hold on her instinctively. She looked at him and slipped out of his arms quietly without waking him. She walked toward the castle entrance, but stopped a pulse went through her.
She gripped her arm as she clenched her teeth. Three more marks appeared on her arm and she went to her knees.
“W-what’s happening?!” she thought as she fell to the floor.
Her wings came out, one was an angel wing, and the other looked like a bat wing. Her eyes widened as she saw them and gasped.
“So its begun,” Armageddon growled. “Your transformation.”
Selene clenched her teeth as the pain increased. Her right eye turned red and her left one stayed blue. Her nails got sharper and her teeth did as well as she growled. She gripped her sword and he sealed it back up, making her return to normal.
“Selene if you ever let me leave your side, you will transform into a demon,” he growled angrily.
Selene nodded and fainted on the floor with her hand on her sword. An hour passed and she woke up, sighing in relief when she saw Demetri still asleep. She put her sword at her hip and walked toward the lake.
“Will I ever be able to change back if I become half demon?” she asked her sword.
“Yes, but I will have to seal it up again,” he replied.
She nodded and continued to walk for hours trying to clear her head. She stopped on top of a mountain ridge and sat down as she watched the sun set. Her grip on her sword tightened as she felt the burning on her arm from another mark appearing.
“Will I lose my soul and heart for good if I become a demon?” she thought as she looked at her hand.
“There you are,” she heard someone say.
She turned her head and saw Demetri walking toward her. She looked back over the horizon and felt him sit by her. He sighed as he looked at the view.
“It’s a nice view from here,” he looked at her. “Don’t you think?”
“Yes it is,” she looked at him as she smiled. “It’s really nice.”
He grabbed her hands in his and looked at her lovingly. She blushed under his gaze and looked away. He pulled her to his chest as her wyes widened.
“I’m not going anywhere,” he whispered into her ear.
“Demetri,” she said.
He kissed her and he kissed back. He parted and looked at her as he caressed her cheek. She pulled back and stood up as night came. She felt a pulse go through her and gasped as she clutched her stomach.
“Selene!” he shouted as he rushed toward her.
“Sty-stay away!” she pushed him back and screamed as the pain increased.
Demetri stopped as he felt a presence behind him. He turned around and saw Shin. His eyes widened as Shin walked past him and knelt beside Selene.
“Sh-shin!” Demetri said in shock as he turned around.
Shin touched Selene’s shoulder and made her faint as Demetri walked toward him. Shin picked her up in his arms and ran toward the temple as Demetri followed after them. Shin set her on the ground and put a glowing crest on her heart. It went into her heart and she grimaced, and then relaxed.
“Shin why are you here?” Demetri asked as Shin sighed.
“I saw the angels stirring and wondered what was up,” he looked at Demetri. “I knew it had to do something with her.”
Demetri held Selene’s hand as Shin looked over her. He found the marks and looked at her sword. Selene woke up and gripped her arm as another mark appeared.
“Selene!” Demetri shouted.
“She’s already starting to change,” Shin put a vial on her arm and it burned. “This will slow down her transformation into a demon.”
Selene fainted again and Demetri put a blanket over her. Shin pulled up his sleeve and put a needle in it. He grunted as he injected the liquid and pulled it out.
“What’s that?” Demetri asked him as he put another log on the fire.
“Sol’s soul,” he replied.
“What?!” he slammed Shin into the ground angrily. “Why?”
“She asked it of me, to save Selene from losing her sanity,” Shin looked at him. “You know what I mean Demetri.”
Hours passed and Selene woke up as Shin walked into the building.
“Shin,” she whispered as she sat up.
“Good to see you Selene,” he said as
