know what I saw and unless you tell me what the hell is going on here I’m leaving  and ill find out myself.’’ I got out of the bed and began to make my way to the door when Jacob grabbed my arm. He looked into my eyes for a moment and seemed shocked. Damn! They must have changed colour again. He let go of me and began to speak.

“Ok we will tell you but you might want to take a seat. This is gona be one hell of a story. I don’t even know where to start.’’

“How about from the start’’ I heard a voice say it was Leah I took a seat on the bed. Seth plonked down beside me and whispered in my ear “Brace yourself.’’

Chapter 9

CHAPTER 9: THE TRUTH

Have you ever heard the term the truth hurts? Well it’s exactly what I was feeling right now. When Jacob began telling the story I sat there like a statue unable to speak or even fully comprehend what he was saying. All the while he explained to me what shape shifters were and that my father was one of them and heck he was even the pack leader the “Alpha’’. And that I possessed the gene and would become one of them when I turned sixteen. When he finished three pairs of eyes were fixated on me Leah’s, Seth’s and Jacobs. “So what do you think?’’ asked Seth.

I wiped my face surprised to find tears I had apparently been crying the whole time. I looked outside the window and it was already twilight the story must have gone on for longer than I imagined. I looked back at Jacob and began to speak.

“I think that whatever your smoking it must be some real good stuff if you actually believe this.’’

“Were not lying and were not crazy drug addicts either.’’ Retorted Leah

“Look we are not taking you for a ride okay you wanted to know the truth well know you have it.’’ A jumble of emotions engulfed me so I wasn’t crazy all those years of isolating myself from normal teenage behaviour was for nothing. But then again I just discovered what I had always feared growing up I was indeed not normal. No this can’t be happening 15 and half years of living in this world had taught me there’s no such thing as monsters in your closet or underneath your bed. And that could not be erased by 4 hours of … I don’t even know what you call this. I began to speak.

“Show me.’’

“Show you what said Jacob?’’ with a wiry look on his face.

“You said you can shift any time you want to now I want to see it for myself then I will believe you.’’

Jacob looked at the others as if he was considering my request.

“Ok.’’ He finally said.

Ok?  I thought this all a joke and at any moment know someone was gona jump out of the closet and shout “smile you’re on candid camera.”

“But we have to go outside for this’’ said Leah.

I nodded and began to follow them outside. Strangely enough we didn’t stop in the yard and we travelled quite deep into the woods and my head was throbbing and my fatigue was rising.

“How much further’’ I asked

Jacob who was in front of me stopped abruptly.

“Why? Don’t you feel well?’’

I saw concern in his eyes and my heart melted under his gaze.

“Erm… is just a headache.’’

Before I knew what was happening he scoped me up wedding style and held me close to him. I began to protest to being treated like a baby but then I realized this is probably the only time I’ll get to be this close to him so I bit my lip and muttered a small “thanks’’.

We kept on moving until we reached an area that was densely covered with trees. I suppose if it was all true they wouldn’t want anyone else to find out about them. Jacob put me down again and every where our skin met it was like tiny static shocks all over that area. I stared at him for a second

“Wasn’t I heavy for you?’’ He looked down at me and smiled.

He walked over to this huge bolder the size of a car and picked it up. With a smug smile on his face he spoke. “Compared to this bolder your feather light.’’ I sighed and leaned against one of the trees and began to speak. “Really Jake at this point nothing should surprise me anymore, but you never cease to.’’ He looked at me again but this time with amusement in he’s expression as he began to speak “Well I hope I never stop I don’t ever want bore you.’’ I was about to tell him that he could never bore and that every moment I’m with him he takes my breath away. Ok well I wouldn’t really say that out loud but I was thinking it when I was interrupted by Leah coughing. “Sorry to interrupt you love birds but we came here for a reason and I don’t have time to waste.’’ She ended off by pointing at her wrist watch. Deep rushes of heat run up my neck and ears my cheeks were hot. She just insinuated that Jacob and I were in love ok I know it was a joke but even the thought of it gave me butterflies in my stomach. A couple of seconds ran by in uncomfortable silence. It was Seth who eventually spoke “So who’s going to do it?’’ Every ones gaze fell on Seth and an eerie understanding fell upon him “What me? No way why do I have to do everything no one else wants too?’’ I looked at Seth with an apologetic expression on my face “pleas Seth do it for me.’’ He's expression grew soft and he finally gave in. “Ok I’ll do it.’’ He stepped back from me and headed in the direction of a thick bush. A couple of seconds passed and when I looked up I saw it there it was huge and majestic. It was Seth and I was approaching me its real everything is real everything they have told me for the last couple of hour’s was the truth. Seth stood in front of me now close enough for me to touch him I lifted my hands and began to stroke his muzzle. He made a purring sound as if he really liked it. Jacob made a low kind of growling sound and Seth stepped away from me. “So what do you think’’ ask Leah.

I turned my attention back to Seth “Holy shit Seth you’re a dog!

Chapter 10

                       CHAPTER: 10 Hunger

The next morning I woke up in Jacobs bed and I was surprised at how well id slept considering… well everything. It was really hard to believe everything that’s happened in the last couple of days it would be much easier to convince myself that I was insane then to believe the truth. Never the less it was true and I was going to learn to accept it. I showered changed and brushed all the tangles out of my hair. My hair looks just like my fathers, crow black and sleek touching my hips. Most of my features I got from my mother my figure my face my lips and my colouring, but my hair and my eyes were exactly like my fathers and my temperament too. Every time I styled my hair it reminded me of him. A knot started to form in the pit of my stomach and I realized how hungry I was. The last time I had eaten anything was yesterday afternoon. Yikes!

I got up from where I was seated and headed towards the kitchen. I was not surprised to find it empty it was rather early.

I made my way to the refrigerator and hesitated at the handle. Would Aunt Sue mind if I helped myself? As if responding my stomach clenched and a wave of hunger engulfed me. I flung open the fridge door I would have to go on the assumption that she wouldn’t. Inside was a variety of fruits and yogurts. I searched through the refrigerator vigorously desperate to find something non-vegetarian. Finally I found some meatloaf it was neatly wrapped in some cling foil. I ripped open the cling wrap and was about to re-heat it in the microwave when the smell of if reached me Oh- My- God! I had never been so hungry in my life my stomach was practically doing flip flops. I took a huge bite out of it and the taste was superb. Forgetting all my manners I devoured it as if I had never eaten in my life. Biting, ripping and chewing like a wild animal the meatloaf was gone within a few minutes. I sat down and my brain started working again. What the hell was wrong with me? I was truly astonished at how desperately hungry I was to eat such a large chunk of meatloaf in such a short period of time. As I pondered these thoughts in my mind I was too distracted to notice that was Leah standing in the hallway her mouth was gaping in shock. She entered the room and held up the cling wrap examining it closely. Her expression had changed from shock to understanding as she placed one hand on my shoulder and said.

“Its part of the change it’s like the earliest symptom and soon you’ll be one of us.’’

I looked at her in amazement the way she said “symptom’’ it’s almost like describing a disease. I was still a bit unsure about becoming a shifter I mean did I even want that? A tiny voice inside my head kept on reminding me that I really had no other choice.

“What other… symptoms are there?’’ I asked in a whisper.

She smiled at me and took a seat opposite mine.

“Well … (She began) you’ll have random heat flashes especially when you’re near the Cullen’s.’’ She said in a matter of fact way.

“Is it because they are Vampires?’’ I offer.

“Yes it is your natural alert system setting in. Since they are and have been our enemies for centuries our bodies have build up a defence against them almost like a warning when they are near us. The more there are the more intense it is’’

I sighed as I remembered the day I was at the
