Hi, my name is Silver O'Connor. I'm 17 years old and live in Beverly Hills, California. I have light brown hair that is mid back, I'm 5'2, I have light brown eyes with silver flecks in them, I live with my best friend, Lily Dunnigan, because both of our parents died, so we have no adults in the house. Oh,one more thing; I'm very sarcastic.
~~~~~
I really don't want to go to school today and yet, here I am, walking down the hallway. When I stepped into my first class, my teacher stopped talking and looked at me.
"Thank you for joining us, Ms.O'Connor." Mr.Sherwood said. I snorted.
"Oh please. I'm not joining you. I'm gracing you with my presence." I said as I walked to my seat. Laughs and chuckles burst from places in the room. Mr.Sherwood just ignored that comment and went on teaching. I was looking out the window when something snapped on my desk. I looked up.
"Yes?"
"Will you be so kind as to answer my question?" Mr.Sherwood asked.
"No." I said bluntly.
"If you were paying more attention, you would know the answer." he said.
"Oh, I was paying attention, just not to you." I said sweetly. Giggles erupted from everywhere. Mr.Sherwood sighed.
"Alright everyone and Silver, the homework is on the board and is due by Thursday." he said and sat back at his desk. I quickly wrote it down and bolted out of the classroom when the bell rang.
In my next class, Ms.Clough is my teacher.
"Hello, Susan." I said to her as I walked in. She chuckled.
"Hello, Silver." she said back. She is the only teacher I actually try to be nice to. Right before class started, Principle Rizzoli walked in with a new kid on her arm. All the girls gasped, except for me, and some of the boys had a look of irritation on their faces. The new kid was hot. The room was dead silent.
"Hey, Whitney. Who's that?" I asked. The principle looked at me.
"This is Webster Nguyen(pronounced New-When)." she said. I nodded.
"Well, Webster. You can take a seat next to Silver." Ms.Clough said.
"Why me?!" I gasped. The principle chuckled.
"Wouldn't you like someone to chat to in class?" she asked.
"Why, when I can just talk to you?"
"Enough, Silver. He is sitting next to you and that is final." she said through clenched teeth. I snorted.
"Webster, go sit." Ms.Clough said in a soft voice.
"Oh joy!" I squealed sarcastically. Webster sat down to my right with a smirk on his face. When Ms.Clough started talking, Webster turned to me.
"Hey, I'm Webster." he said as he did the thing that Justin Bieber flip to get his blond hair out of his blue eyes.
"Don't talk to me, don't look at me, don't touch me, don't even think about me or you will face Ms.Sarcastic. Since you're new, I'll let this one slide. But, ask anybody, don't mess with me." I smiled bitterly and focused on Susan. The bell rang and I got out of the classroom as usual. Since I came in late, I get to go to lunch next. As I was at my locker I heard someone ask about me.
"Hey, what's up with that girl?" I guess he nodded his head at me because I felt stares on my back.
"Ah, Silver. She's the most sarcastic person you will ever meet." I knew that voice. It was JD.
"Does she have a boyfriend?" Ah, this was the new kid.
"Nobody knows. She's a mystery." I smirked at that. Fynn had said that.
"Yeah, she's like, the hottest girl I've ever seen and no one knows anything about her except the girl she lives with." JD sighed. The bell rung and I went to the lunch room, the smirk still on my face.
~~~~~
Today, we had mashed potatoes, a slab of steak, and cheesy broccoli. Yes,our lunches are awesome.
Lily was bouncing in her seat when I walked over.
"Why are so...giddy?" I asked. She smiled her That-Boy-Is-Going-To-Be-Mine smile.
"Webster Nguyen! Talk about hot!" she said. I rolled my eyes.
"And?" I sighed, knowing that this isn't going to end well for someone, most likely him.
"And, he's hot and awesome. I'm beautiful and awesome." she explained.
"So?"
"I want to go out with him." she said bluntly.
"Iβm not listening, but keep talking. I enjoy the way your voice makes my ears bleed."I said, rubbing my ears.
"Meanie. But, I'm serious. Maybe this one will be a keeper." she said dreamily. Lily has dated many, many, many, many, many boys. She's not a hoe, she just falls in love fast.
"Why don't you go and ask him out?" I asked.
"Because I have to make sure that he likes me!" she yelped. Andrew, quarterback for our football team and the only boy who would not stop asking me out, walked over.
"Hey, Silver. I was wondering you would like to go out with me on Friday?" he asked in a voice that was sugar coated, but fake. Everyone knew he had a pool with his buds to see if he could get in every girls pants in the school by the end of the year.
"How could I possibly refuse? No thank you." I took a sip of water. Lily giggled.Andrew looked at me with something like wonder and awe mixed together. He walked away smirking. Hmm,that's kind of creepy.
"Okay, first meeting jokes...How about 'Your so hot it's like looking in a mirror.'?" Lily asked.
"Oh my god thatβs so hilarious, I was in such awe of how funny it was, I forgot to laugh." I said.
"Okay, I get it. Maybe I'll show my smart side" she sighed. I laughed.
"What's so funny?" she asked.
"Oh! You were serious?" I gasped.
"Do you think I'm stupid?" she looked at me with her hazel eyes,trying to make me guilty.
"It's not your fault." I patted her shoulder.
"Ugh! Why does God let you breath!" she crushed her black eye brows together in frustration.
"He doesn't, I just don't let him kill me." I shrugged casually and got up.
"Ugh!" she got up,too.
"I'll try to be nicer if you try to be smarter." I stuck out my hand so we could make a deal.
"Fine." she said. We shook hands and both left the lunch room.
I felt someone walk up behind me.
"Well, if it isn't Short Stuff." not someone, something. I don't know why they think calling me short is going to hurt me. The thing that was talking to me was named Avana Monroe. I turned away from my locker, facing her.
"Jealousy is a terrible diseaseβ¦β¦.Get well soon!" I waved to her and walked off. Everyone in the hall had heard and they all laughed at her.
"Well, at least I'm hot." she countered.
"Fighting with me is like being in the special Olympics. You may win, but in the end youβre still a retard." I said back.
"You're the one who's stupid!" she yelled.
"Tell me .. is being stupid a profession or are you just gifted?" I asked. Everyone 'Oooo'ed and 'Ahhh'ed. Special people.
"I'm not stupid. Watch your back, Shorty. I know people." she hissed.
"Does this face look like it cares? NO!!!"
"You know you care." she said.
"Awww that`s so cute! You actually think I careβ¦If it looks like I give a damn, please tell me. I donβt want to give off the wrong impression." I patted my heart. She was speechless.
"Do you know what I like most about you?"I asked, knowing she'd step into my trap.
"No...what?"she asked. She did!
"Absolutely nothing." I said. She let out a frustrated scream and took a swing at my face.
"Well, aren't you just a ray of sunshine?" I said mockingly.
I ducked and kneed her in the private. Surprisingly,she fell.
"I guess you don't have enough,ahem...balls,to take me on.Next time you try to make a move,atleast take me to dinner first." I said. Everyone is cheering and whooping. I walked into my next class like nothing had ever happened
When I got home, I quickly did my homework, which took me an hour, and set my alarm for 5 o'clock. Then, I set out my work clothes and slept.
Ring. Ring. Ring. RRRRRRRIIIIIIINNNNNNNGGGGGGG. I jumped up out of bed. Lily came rushing in.
"Come on! Get up! Get ready!" she yelled, putting on her uniform skirt. I took a 3 minute shower and put my hair in pigtails and left my bang out. I hopped around, pulling my button up shirt on and my skirt, and looking for my dark brown flats. Once I was done, I grabbed a jacket, my phone, and my wallet. I ran out the door and jumped in the car, just as Lily stepped on the gas.
"Finally, it took you long enough." she sighed. We couldn't be late or our boss, Fred as he told us to call him, would give us overtime. I put my name tag on and fixed Lily's, since her's was upside down. My hair was dry now, and stray pieces were blowing in my face. One of my favorite songs by Aly and Aj came on and I started singing along.
" It took too long, it took too long
It took to long for you to call back
And normally I would just forget that
Except for the fact it was my birthday
My stupid birthday
I played along, I played along
I played along, it rolled right off my back
But obviously my armor was cracked
What kind of boyfriend would forget that?
Who would forget that?
The type of guy who doesn't see
What he has until she leaves
Don't let me go
'Cause without me you know you're lost
Wise up now or pay the cost'
So you will know
You're not livin' till you're livin'
Livin' with me
You're not winnin' till you're winnin'
Winnin' me
You're not gettin'
