I reached out and grabbed his arm. βNo, Jason. Letβs just go find another human to feed from.β
He turned and raised an eyebrow at me, his usually calm green eyes becoming a tempest before me. Hunger did that to him. It did that to all Vampyres, including me. βWhy?β He asked simply.
I nodded to the unconscious body in front of him. βThat...thatβs my brother from my mortal life. Iβ¦I canβt. Please.β
And the Vampyre I loved with all my being wrapped me in his arms as I wished to forget my mortal life that was hell.
It was a beautiful summer in Boston, 1787, and my family threw many masquerade balls. The man holding my hand smiled behind his mask as he led me into a waltz.
During the dance, I fell in love with this tall stranger, who had quick wit, gentle hands, and a very chivalrous attitude. I imagined the exact opposite for my fiancΓ©, with whom I had an arranged marriage. I had only once spoken fleetingly to him, but I already hated him.
βPlease, sir,β I murmured at the end. βRemove your disguise.β
He did, and I realized it was my fiancΓ©.
I was the new
girl for the third time in two years. Being in my freshman year, I didnβt enjoy moving around and not making friends quickly enough.
Walking to my new
locker with my new
schedule and textbooks in hand, I bumped into someone. All my things fell around me.
The incredibly hot stranger helped me pick up my books and schedule. He smiled, and my heart stopped beating. As he walked away, I saw a tall, tan, blonde glaring at me. Her surrounding minions glared too.
I was so
not looking forward to these next couple of months.
