I Need Rescued by Elizabeth (Izzy) Marie Stubbe (reading strategies book .TXT) 📕

She sits there, wondering what her life would be like if, she was like everyone else, if she had a family like everyone else, if these thoughts that run through her head never existed. She imagines, having a happy family, days full of laughter and light, and seeing her mother and father in love. She starts to smile, until her mother screams from the bottom of the stairs, “Lizbeth get you ass downstairs now!” Her mother’s yelling always put an abrupt end to Lizbeth’s daydreaming. She wished she could just have one day full of daydreaming, without her mother screaming for her every five minutes.
“What do you need me to do?” Lizbeth asks her mother.
“I need you to fold the clothes and put them away, or you can’t go to the dance tonight.” says her mother.
“You promised me that I could go!”
“Well things change, I need your help around here, and all you do is sit up in your room and listen to music!” her mother screams.
“I do more around the house than you ever have!” Lizbeth screams at her mother.
“You don’t do jack shit! Now quit with the attitude before I slap you across the face!”
“Do it I dare you! See how fast I call dad and get the hell out of here!” screams Lizbeth.
“Your father is an alcoholic who doesn’t give a shit about you! Why do you think I left him when you were a baby! I left him to protect you!” cried her mother.
“You left him because you wanted to! Not to protect me! You’ve never protected me! All you have done is lie to me!” Lizbeth cries.
“I have not! Now get this shit done or you can’t go to the dance!”
“Yes ma’am.”
“Thank you!” her mother says in a cocky tone of voice.
