Hade slashed his sizzling, white-hot plasma tail whipping and crackling through the air behind his robotic rump. “We will soon attack the Royal Outpost. The new pretender king is there. He awaits coronation in the Royal Kingdom.”

Violet hid a gasp. Tim was alive! He’d succeeded! Violet desperately wanted to hug herself in joyful, wild abandon, but she hid it easily. Hiding her true feelings was a well-honed skill, and second nature for a former palace concubine like herself.

Hade’s eyes flamed, “We’re going to kill him before they crown him, and I will take his royal ring.”

Violet’s eyes betrayed no shock. “What’s to stop him from traveling to the Royal Kingdom to be crowned this very minute?”

“Our spy reports the king is waiting for his four exile allies to recover from their beatings.”

Violet felt a tinge of jealousy. The only reason Tim had left her side was to rescue those four exiles. A blonde, a brunette, a redhead, and the one with jet black hair and diamond blue eyes. The serious one. If not for them, her Tim would be safely with her now.

“You know them,” Hade said shrewdly.

“No,” Violet said evenly, a half-truth. She had briefly met the four women when her tribe had captured them along with Tim, nothing more.

“No matter. According to our spy, the king won’t leave their sides until they’ve healed. They’ll be released from medical care in less than two weeks’ time. We strike before then.”

“When?”

“Soon.”

“What is any of this to my tribe?”

“You’re going to help,” Hade spat, his mechanized voice metallic.

“And if we refuse?” Violet challenged.

“Then it will be my pleasure to split you down the middle.” Hade took two horsely steps toward her, forcing her back with a thrust from his heavily armored and spiked chest bone — the bone of his horse’s chest, which lay in the same position where Hade’s human crotch would have been if he were merely a humanoid instead of a centanoid. It was an overtly sexual gesture. He glared down at Violet from on high, his empty eyes flaming with white desire. They burned their way down Violet’s breasts, smoking and lingering on her cleavage, trailing down her flat stomach, and locking on her crotch. “Yes… I will take great pleasure in splitting you open, whore.” He chuckled a menacing laugh.

“Trying will get you killed,” Violet smirked, flexing her fingers around the grip of her Black Hole Blaster. Hade was no different from Sekton. She had refused Sekton, and would refuse Hade to the bitter end, or die trying.

“Hardly,” he laughed. “When I’m done rutting you, whore, you will thank—”

“I tire of your posturing. My tribe will not fight Crewd’s war for him. We agreed only to—”

Hade cut her off with a growling, metallic sneer, “You agreed to take the Baron’s weapons to protect yourself from King Sekton in exchange for answering the Baron’s call when it came. That time is come, and I’m here to collect your debt, whore.” He took a sudden step forward.

Violet stumbled back in surprise, her blaster hand going high. Hade bumped her breasts again with his horse chest — his virtual human crotch — forcing her stumbling back into Deneb’s arms.

Hade advanced before the two women could recover their balance, bumping into Violet’s chest with his fore-nethers a third time. “Either you fight for Baron Bludlust, whore, or you pay me with the treasure between your legs… while my men kill your tribe to the symphony of your screams.”

Four shots remaining, Violet thought to herself. She’d only need one.

Behind her, Deneb and her sisters jumped to their feet, bolt rifles at the ready. They couldn’t tolerate another second of Hade’s disrespect toward Violet and were itching for a fight as badly as she.

All 100 of Hade’s men aimed their Stygian K177’s at the tribeswomen with a dramatic clatter. In addition, from the underside of Hade’s destroyer, large bolt cannons descended from weapon bays, whirring and rotating into position, locking their laser sights on the crowd of brave and beautiful women.

Violet knew this firefight was certain suicide. She grit her teeth in frustration.

“Pick your poison, whore,” Hade chuckled lustily, eyeing Violet’s cleavage with burning abandon. “Die a hero’s death fighting for the Baron, or die by my engorged sword. If you choose the latter, I promise your death will be ecstasy.”

—: Chapter 6 :—

Several days earlier…

Crashing!

Crashing!

Crashing!

I grit my teeth as the spaceship Artemis plummeted toward the purple surface of Zalaxia at Mach 50 or faster.

“Everybody out!” I shouted, barely audible over the whip-cracking of turbulent wind. At this speed, the air was harder than hammers.

The back end of the Artemis was disappearing in a traveling Fold Wave of slicing triangles. The ship was disintegrating around me and the Bombshells. All of us wore protective power armor, but it wouldn’t protect us from a Mach 50 — soon to be Mach 60 — crash or the Fold Wave. Only question was, which would happen first? Us plowing into the ground at the speed of death, or us getting sawn into oblivion and scattered across spacetime by the Fold Wave?

“Bail out now!” I shouted.

“We’re going too fast!” Oia warned.

Cygna said, “The wind shear will tear us apart!”

They were both right.

“You have to do something, my king!” Venus pleaded.

Sirius said grimly, “There’s nothing anybody can do now. We’re skrucked.”

The only way safely out of this was for me to stop the Artemis in mid-air using the POSITION vectoring capability of my Bombshells Ring.

Ring, I thought desperately, apply an upward POSITION vector to us now! Full power!

Nothing happened.

Was my ring out of fuel?

I checked the ring-shaped fuel indicator in my Heads Up Display.

Gone.

All of it gone.

The fuel indicator, the menus, everything in my HUD.

“No!” I barked. I mentally retracted my power armor gauntlet from my ring hand.

The ring was gone.

Instant fear.

I retracted my other gauntlet, thinking I’d checked the wrong hand.

No ring on either hand.

Fear amplified into overwhelming terror.

“No, no, no!” I shouted.

“What is it, my king?” Oia asked.

“What’s wrong?” Venus asked.

I fisted both hands,
