Fabiana had never wanted to examine a place where she loved to relinquish control.
Life, at times, was too much. Too many sensory inputs, too many needs and interactions with others. In these times, she could give up all of that, let him take her away and simply be.
She needed that now more than ever.
When his tongue traced the seam of her lips, she opened for him willingly, turning her head to give him better access. She tried, without using words, to make him take over and do what he always did. Just like him, Fabiana needed the story of tonight to be washed away and the fear in his eyes to disappear.
Adonis dug his fingers into her sides, keeping her in place. He teased her mouth with short bursts of his tongue, sampling her, and as much as she liked it, she wanted more. Needed him to devour her, to control.
She sucked on his tongue but he pulled it back, once more only giving her gentle, open-mouth kisses. Whether he knew it or not, he was altering his lovemaking to give her what she thought she needed.
Ugh.
Not that she didn’t appreciate what he was trying to do, but this wasn’t them. It hadn’t been their dynamic since he’d taken her the first time. They’d silently established she could spread her wings everywhere, but he was the leader in the bedroom and she willingly followed.
Desperate times call for desperate measures.
She raked her nails down his chest and hesitated.
“Pequeña,” he warned.
Fabiana bit his lip in reply.
“Woman, I am trying.”
Yeah, I noticed.
She leaned back and dragged her nails down farther until she met the hardness of his cock. Wrapping her fingers around the shaft, she pumped once, twice, and yanked him to her.
“Try harder.”
His nostrils flared as he lifted her tossed her back onto the bed.
“You are trying my patience.”
Oh, you have no idea, mister.
She scrambled to a crouch.
“Don’t you dare, Fabiana.”
Yup, exactly.
Leaping to the side, Fabiana transformed into her wolf in the same motion. She needed to get a leg up on speed, and no one was faster than Adonis. The shock of her change gave her enough time to get past him and race toward the door.
She heard his growl, heard the scratching on the floor as his wolf took over.
They always like the chase.
Fabiana yipped her laughter at him before charging down the halls. Left, right, up down. The direction didn’t matter, only the scraping of their claws the floor. The more she led him and didn’t get caught, the madder he became.
She could thank him for this, for breaking her out of her shell enough to have this level of confidence between them. No matter what happened, she was more than happy she could be who she really was. Her father had forced her to be the thing of men’s dreams, and when she was free of them, she wanted to be what men forgot, the flower on the wall they never wanted to pluck.
Both were lies.
Fabiana wanted to be a woman who was respected for her mind, craved for her body, and equal to those around her. She wanted to know she could stand next to her sisters and pack, that she wouldn’t be faceless.
Adonis gave her that.
His howl ricocheted off the walls, doors opened, and wolves looked out to watch the chase.
She snarled in warning, and all eyes widened before doors closed again. This wasn’t a time for other wolves to join her play. Even the security forces who stalked the halls quickly moved out of their way when she snapped. They knew the wolf behind her.
If her mate wanted to have her, he’d have to catch her.
Hot breath skirted her flank, and she sank low before twisting her flexible spine and spinning directions, just like Pasquale had taught her. The move wasn’t easy to do without practice, but she’d been doing it for years to escape. Adonis’s larger, shaggy brown wolf slid on the ground, claws gripping for purchase before he slammed into the nearest wall.
“Got you, big guy.”
“I’m going to blister your ass.”
“Promise?”
“Fabiana.”
“Pequeña.”
Again yipping her laughter in the air, she pushed her legs to work faster as she raced back toward the room. He wanted to be an idiot, she’d lock him out.
Wonder how long it would take him to rip it down.
Score!
Maybe Silva and Giules were too much of an influence on her.
She saw the room in front of her and moved faster, stretching her stride as wide as possible.
“No you don’t.”
Teeth sank into her neck. She hadn’t even realize he was that close, hadn’t heard or felt him since he hit the wall. Now they were rolling, her hind legs kicking for purchase as he slammed her beneath him with a growl. Right in front of their bedroom, Adonis’s wolf hovered over her, pinning her hard to the floor.
“You know better than to run from a predator.”
“I will every time you start acting more like prey.”
He shook his head, tossing hers from side to side with his motions. Not enough to do more than make her whimper, but the admonishment spoke to her wolf.
“I was trying to be kind, Fabiana.”
“Are you going to now?”
He shifted in response, removing his teeth and instead using his hand to keep her in place. “Oh no, baby. That is over.”
She shivered, her fur spiking. Good.
“Shift.”
Adonis’s Alpha call wrapped around her, ripping through the hold she had on her wolf and snapping the connection. She let it go willingly, but it still made her groan because it happened so fast.
Adonis said nothing as
