places her head on my shoulder. I hold her, rubbing a hand up and down her arm. The words are on the tip of my tongue to tell her about my trip, but I hold back. I don’t want to cause her any disappointment, and this moment is perfect.

When the elevator dings open, I hold her hand and walk to her apartment, entering. I watch as she kicks off her shoes by the front door. I smile at her ease as she walks around her apartment, going through her routine of opening windows and turning on lights.

She turns around and smiles shyly, watching me as I lean against the frame that leads to the living room where she’s standing. A light blush covers her cheeks.

“Do you want something to drink?” Allyson scrunches her nose a bit, making a cute face that I want to grab and kiss.

“No,” I shake my head. “I actually need to talk to you about something.” I grab both of her hands and lead her to the couch.

“What’s wrong?” Her voice immediately rises, and her eyes search mine.

“Nothing,” I promise. “I got a call from a client, and I need to fly to Richmond to solve a problem he’s having with his app. I’ll be back in time for your next appointment.”

She gives me a small smile, her eyes looking at me sadly. “Duty calls. We knew this would happen. It’s not like you could live here forever.” She puts on a brave face, but I read the disappointment in her eyes.

“I’ll be back. I wanted to confirm the date of your appointment before finalizing my flight. Make sure I’ve got time to come back.”

“It’s on the twenty-third.”

I do the math in my head. That gives me a couple weeks to go, fix Jim’s problem, and fly back. If I don’t find any major issues, it should be enough time.

“Okay,” I nod. “How about we grab some dinner?” I smirk.

“How about we order in and watch a movie? Ronan Connolly’s new movie is on Netflix,” she gives me her best smile, and I can’t turn her down.

“What do you want to eat?” I ask, leaning in to kiss her temple.

“You.” The one word comes out with a deep tone, her eyes dancing with mischief.

“Kiwi,” I growl, pulling her onto my lap. “I want to eat you, but we’ll save that for dessert. I need you fed and with energy. I’ve got plans for us tonight if I’m flying back home in less than forty-eight hours.” She shivers against me, and I smile knowingly.

“I’m going to miss you,” I whisper against her lips. “It’s crazy, but I am.”

“I’ve gotten used to you being here,” she pouts.

“I’ll be back.” I brush my lips against hers.

“But what about when you aren’t able to come back? When your time to visit is up, and they kick you back to the US, what will happen then?” She blinks rapidly, most likely hiding the fact that she wants to cry. My sister used to do the same thing when we were younger, and she’d get upset over something.

“I don’t know,” I shake my head, and my lips fall into a flat line. “We can work something out.” I tell her what I’ve been saying since I arrived, hoping that it’s true that we’ll be able to have a fool-proof plan in place, but I’m not exactly sure how or what it will be unless she moves back to Richmond. Without a visa, I can’t be in Spain for longer than ninety days, and each day I spend here is one less I’ll have with her.

“Let’s focus on right now,” I suggest, tapping her thigh and putting a smile on my face. “I’m here with you, and we’ve got all night.”

Allyson nods and moves off my lap. “I’m just going to change, and I’ll be right back.”

“What do you want to eat, and I’ll order?” She looks at me with raised eyebrows before she tips her head back and laughs.

“What’s so funny?” I cross my arms and stand.

“I want to hear you order our food.” Her cackles resonate around the living room.

“Handy dictionary, remember?” I arch an eyebrow.

Wiping under her eyes, she tries to catch her breath. “I do need to hear this. Go on.” She tips her chin toward her phone on the coffee table. “Call them. I’ll wait.” She leans against the wall, crossing her foot over her ankle and placing her hands in her pant pockets.

Confident, I grab her phone and repeat, “What do you want to eat?”

“Indian, their number is saved on my phone.”

I search for the restaurant name and call, taking deep breaths. When the person answers and shoots off a phrase faster than I can catch it, I swallow thickly and try my hand at ordering dinner for us.

“Hola, um… Delivery? Eh…casa” Allyson snorts and attempts to hide her laughter with her hand. “Dos chicken masala…” I lift my brows to make sure she wants that. When she nods, I continue. “Y… Naan.”

I sigh in relief when the man understands my order in a broken Spanish mixed with English. Covering the mouthpiece on the phone, I ask Allyson for her address. I repeat it to the man and hang up.

Slow clapping fills my ears. “I’m impressed, although some of those words are in English.”

“I’m sweating,” I admit, and then I laugh. “I did okay, though, right?”

“Yeah, you did more than okay.” She slowly walks toward me with a sexy smile. Allyson wraps an arm around my back, and her smile grows. “It was kinda sexy, actually, watching you talk in Spanish. But you know what I think?” I shake my head. “You might need some one-on-one tutoring.”

My dick stands at attention, volunteering to receive said one-on-one time. Clearing my throat, I smirk. “I’ve got some other ideas we can do that require no talking.” I skim my nose against her cheek. Ally sighs and leans into me, bringing her other arm around my back.

“You’re not the man
