stubbornness your family would have been whole.”

“Doesn’t matter now,” I say, hugging him back. I may be mad as hell with my father for everything, but I still love him. The only thing he’s ever done is try to protect his family from enemies.

“Now go pack your bags,” he says dismissing me.

Without a word I walk to my room and sit on the side of my bed staring at one of the two pictures sitting on my nightstand. Tears fall on my arms as the memory of the day it was taken fills me. Our wedding day.

“Babe you sure about this?” Samuel asks.

“More than anything Sammy, I want to be your wife,” I say, smiling at him as I wrap my arms around his neck.

“But don’t you want to wait for a big wedding. I told you I’ll give you anything you want when it comes to our wedding, but I also don’t want you to regret this,” he admits his concerns.

“Samuel Evans, it’s my birthday and this is the only thing I want. I don’t want to wait another day to be married to you. I’ve been with you since I was sixteen and I refuse to go another day without taking your name,” I whisper, leaning up to kiss him.

The kiss turned into more as we stripped each other of our clothes. Without worrying about foreplay Samuel lifts me into his arms. I wrap my legs around his waist and he gently slides inside me. Breaking the kiss, I rest my forehead to his and hold his gaze all while I ride his dick. By the time we both reach orgasm we’re panting for breath.

“I love you Emery,” Samuel says, pressing a kiss to my lips before sliding out of me and putting me on my feet. “Now how about I go make you Emery Evans.”

“It’ll be the best birthday present I could ever ask for,” I giggle as I start putting my clothes back on.

“Then I look forward to making every birthday from here on out the best it can be,” Samuel says while pulling his jeans up.

An hour later we were married, wanting a picture of the two of us. I’d asked the judge to take it for us. Smiling he’d taken my phone like he’d done this a million times before.

Shaking my head, I wipe the tears from my cheeks. The two people in this picture don’t exist anymore. Who would have thought two months after we were married our lives would be changed? In more ways than one.

Guess I will find out for myself when I get there, if what I’ve heard is true of the man I’m married to. What’s that saying? Within the storm is the cyclone that causes chaos and destruction, is the same storm that brings new life.

Yeah, a life filled with loneliness.

Chapter Three

Scorch

“So, let me get this straight Prez, you want me to go meet this bitch at some air landing field and take her to your house where I’m to watch over her?” Frost asks standing in front of me with his arms crossed.

“Yep that’s exactly what I want you to do. Watch over her and the kid,” I grumble as I take a sip of the beer I lift to my mouth. I don’t want to think about the woman who would be landing within the next hour. Nor am I ready to face her. At least not yet.

Right now, all I want to do is handle club business and maybe get my dick sucked. Yeah maybe even grab one or two of the CW’s to let off some steam before I deal with my wife.

Fuck. How the hell did my life get so damn fucked up?

Oh, that’s right, the day Emery supposedly died. I’ve spent the past decade forgetting her and now she has to fuckin’ reappear like the ghost from Christmas past. Only instead of it being some Christmas carol bullshit. It’s a damn disaster like the hurricanes we deal with around here.

Emery may be my wife on paper, but I’ll be damned if I’ll treat her as such. She and her father lied to me for years. On top of that they kept me from knowing I had a kid. One who will most likely hate me.

I know I’d hate me if I were him. I’m a ruthless bastard with a cold as fuck heart. Besides Emery probably filled his head with ideas of me being some loser who couldn’t protect her when she needed it.

Fuck, I need to stop thinking about her and my kid now. I can’t afford to have my head all fucked up. Not now when I’ve got shit around here to deal with. My head needs to stay clear.

“Look you all know I couldn’t stand working with Rodric and you know why. This woman is mine in every right, but I can’t deal with her or her bullshit. And I really don’t want to hear her excuses right now. Not with the intel Ram just brought to my attention,” I say putting my beer back on the bar top.

“What intel?” Frost asks as his interest piques.

“Something to do with an auction and the Alcazar Cartel,” I grind out. A rumor had been going around for a while now that another club in North Carolina was in the trafficking business and were holding an auction on a few girls, one being a baby no older than three or four months. With the help of one of our brothers from another charter, Pooh, Ram had been able to access their database to find out when and where this auction was to take place.

I wanted to intercept those girls. We may all be bastards around here but I’m not about to let a bunch of girls be auctioned off, let alone a baby. Some people are just sick as hell and should eat a fuckin’ bullet.

There’s a difference in a woman over the age of eighteen being
