my high school days. Wasn’t nearly as fun when you’re part of it and not just a spectator, however. A big lunchtime fight between Jordy Jason and me. All started over my wife, who obviously would have been my girlfriend at the time. Jordy thought that he was meant to be with her. Called me many names, names a guy like me shouldn’t be called. Verbally abused me and my girlfriend almost all throughout high school, but at that point I snapped. I stood up, grabbed my tray, and smashed it across his forehead. It broke in half off his skull. He swung at me and missed, but in my blind rage, all I could think about is seeing his face super bloody. And I wanted to be the one who caused it. I was dragged away from the situation before I could hit him again but man, did I want to hurt him. That thought process is still relevant today, except I haven’t seen him since high school. I haven’t heard anything about him either.

Jordy and I used to be best friends in junior high. Hanging out at the local park, shooting hoops, going to the movies; we had lots of fun together. We had a little friend group, but Jordy and I were the closest friends. I remember him always saying he hated his name, saying he thought it was too “girly.” I was never close with him before, but we established a strong friendship as we entered junior high. We were gonna be the popular best friends when we got to high school. That’s what he thought. I loved the guy, but he was NOT popular. No one really even knew he existed. But we were great friends. Sophomore year, that all changed.

We had a calm dinner but afterwards I told Heather I needed to go to bed. It had been a long day, yes, but that’s not why I wanted my alone time. I did finally shower before I went to lay in bed. There was no other reason for me to come to bed other than the fact that I had my sweet angel Elle on my mind. You always hear about high school or college sweethearts, but my wife and I were kindergarten sweethearts, at least that’s what we called each other. I first met Elle in kindergarten when she had moved to Vanetta. I actually lived in Tope but was close enough to attend the Vanetta school. We became instant best friends as I showed her around the classroom as the ‘veteran kindergartener’. Back then she used to call me ‘Cordy’. It was my little nickname and it stuck. Only she was allowed to call me it, however. As we continued through elementary, our bond just continued to grow. I started to feel attracted toward her in a romantic way but obviously I had no idea what love really was back in like 4th grade. Vanetta turns into Vanetta-Tope starting in middle school. Middle school started at 6th grade, that’s when Elle and I became more serious. Again, not super serious because neither of us knew what exactly we were feeling. It was 8th grade when it all started. We officially called ourselves a couple then, but we considered ourselves to have been together since we first met. She always told me there was no one else on her mind. As a high school freshman, her parents got divorced and she moved more north of Vanetta. We kept in contact through all of it, however. Nothing could have separated us, and that was proven when a custody battle between her parents allowed 50/50 and she came back to our school junior year. She was even more beautiful when she came back! Her long blonde hair that flows through the air as she walks. Her beautiful face and body had me in an absolute trance every time I saw her. I proposed on Long Beach in California during our gap year in between high school and university. We went to university together and the rest was history. Got married our sophomore year and had Heather right as we got out. After all that amazing time together, it all ended abruptly on August 6th of that year. I always cry every time I reminisce about my baby girl. I sit here and look at your ashes in that jar. I miss you Elle and I know you’re out there protecting me and your baby Heather. I’ll make sure she’s safe, honey. I promised that when she was born, and it will always remain. I love you Elle.

Elle is what caused Jordy and I to distance ourselves. He was jealous of my relationship with her. Anytime I hung out with her or even mentioned her, he seemed to be distant. Jealousy got the best of him junior year when he tried to make a move on her, and she rejected him. That’s when he got it into his head that she belonged with him. So, he started to be ignorant and just a straight asshole to me. We had already become distant at the time, but we had a mutual understanding. Until then, at least. Senior year is when we got into our big lunchroom fight. After that, he started to verbally and mentally abused Elle too.

I woke up so energetic today. It’s so unlike me. I guess I’m even more excited to hang out with Po at this party than I thought. Like I actually feel nervous. I’m never nervous. Well… except for a couple hard tests in middle school, I guess there’s some finals I had my junior year that got me nervous. Oh oh, there was the time I first spoke to Po! Also, the first time I met Derrick, too. And Cindy; weird right? Anyways, I have got to get the perfect look. Gotta impress that cutie called Po Gladys.

“Heather, honey, I made breakfast.
