βJust so you know, Cleg and his Tribe are searching the park right now for them. They have some explaining to do. Bev, this is exceedingly difficult. You need to fight for this farm. It is yours. It is worth the fight for this property not only for you but for the Guardians of The Forest. You are proof that we can all live together.β
Bev took in a deep breath and looked at Princess and said, βYes, youβre right. I must be strong.β Bevβs head turned quickly toward the barn. She heard the livestock screaming. She immediately thought it was Vue and Tas exacting more devastation to her animals. The Princess told Bitty to go up and guard Freda and Hazel. She told her to open the window in the attic and as loud as she could to let out whoops to alert the Tribe. Bitty bounded up three steps at a time, heading for Freda. Princess Celia and Bev ran for the door out of the house. When they got to the door, they stopped. The barn was ablaze and fully engulfed in flames. Bev pulled out her cell phone and called 911. She notified the fire department that her barn and crops were on fire. Princess Celia and Bev ran out the kitchen door. Bev ran to the barn door. She could see the stalls and could see Nellie. She was rearing up trying to break down the door. She was calling for help. Bev looked at the ceiling above Nellie. She asked the Princess if there was any way she could hold the ceiling up for a few seconds at least to get Nellie out. She nodded her head and stretched out her hand and her light hit the ceiling. βGo!β she screamed. Bev ran inside, ducking the fire sparks. She took off her sweater and opened Nellieβs stall door. She put the sweater over her face and tucked it into the halter. Then she guided Nellie out of the barn. As she was exiting, the ceiling collapsed. She knew all the other animals were lost to the fire. Bev looked over Nellie for burns. Amazingly she had none. Bev removed her belt and tied Nellie to the porch. Nellie was not comfortable there and started to rear up. Bev untied her and moved her to the tree line away from the house and barn. Bev stood next to the Princess in total silence, watching the barn and crops burn. She heard the fire crew pulling into the driveway and up to the barn. About 8 firemen jumped from the truck and started to pull the firehose and open the water valves on the hydrant. One of the trucks turned on the lights to illuminate the crops and barn. There in the middle of the field was what looked like a woman with wings and something covering her eyes. And there was Travis in front of her. He was a shapeshifter in what she thought was his true alien form. He looked like part man and part reptile. He was able to spew fire from his mouth which he was using to burn the crops. The woman with the wings looked as though she was attempting to put out the fire. Princess Celia approached Bev and told her, βThat is the Fire Maiden of the Forest. She appears where there are wildfires in the forest. Some say she is a shapeshifter from another alien race that is here to protect humanity from the aliens who have other agendas.
Princess Celia walked out to the Fire Maiden. The Fire Maiden looked to Princess Celia. βWhat is going on here? Do you know that alien?β she asked.
The Fire Maiden looked at him. βHe is after the gold and assumes if he burns the crops and the barn, the owner will leave. So far, he has started 5 fires in farms around the park. I have been able to extinguish all the fires in time, except this one. I am sorry I was unable to save the barn and the creatures inside the barn. The crops are also a complete loss. I have been trying to hold back this alien from destroying more of the crops that encroach into the forest.β
Bev could not wait any longer as she ran into the field to confront Travis. She was screaming Travis' name. Travis looked over at her and shapeshifted to a human form. Bev dropped to her knees in fright. Then her anger grew uncontrollably. She wanted to kill him. No one was going to destroy her homestead for greed. The anger welled even more. She screamed, βREPTILIAN ALIEN. REALLY! Travis, stop what you are doing NOW!β Bev walked up to him and stood her ground. She asked why he deceived her and the community, why did not tell her he needed gold for his planet. βI would have given it to you. Instead, you destroyed everything. The Forest Guardians depend on these crops. Those animals were not only farm animals but my pets as well. How could you conspire with Vue and Tas?β
Travis tried to explain casually that he needed everyone to think it was two rogue Bigfoot that were looking to harm humans. βI have dispensed with Tas and Vue. They talk no more and will be unable to destroy anything.β
Princess Celia was now standing
