I Hear
I hear gunshots in my neighborhood,
Three people shot,
Their wounds are gone,
But not their memories.

I hear kids playing,
Kids fighting for toys,
I am the last to hear the sirens,
And the kids running,
And screaming for their big brothers.

In the dead silence,
After the sirens are gone,
I hear friends, and family crying,
They are crying for what happened two months ago,
They are crying for what could have happened,
But they are crying for what did happen.
