Chapter 1

I sat in my usual spot in the back of my 10th grade classroom, sketching a picture of a shadowy figure on my paper. My golden curls fell to the sides of my heart shaped face as I leaned forward, so intent on my drawing that ! didn't even notice the presence of someone beside me.
"What'cha drawing there?" said a warm voice, making me jump several inches off my chair. I looked up to see the smiling face of Brydon James, the track star of the varsity team.
"U-um, nothing." I stuttered, trying to hide my drawing under her book.
"No, I saw, and that is defiantly not nothing." Brydon said, sliding the drawing out from under the book, and holding it up so he could get a better look.
"Uh, not to be rude, Brydon, but why are you back here anyway?"
"Oh," Brydon said, returning to drawing to my nervous hands. "I need to borrow your notes on France."
"Why didn't you get them from Alia?" Alia O'Malley was a deathly beautiful cheerleader, and Brydon's girlfriend.
"I wanted to get at least a B this time." Brydon said laughing. I raised my eyebrow and handed him my notes.
"Just give them back before 2nd period tomorrow, okay?"
"Yep, sure, thanks Lacey!" He said smiling, and jogged away towards his desk, which was swarming with his friends. I shrugged, knowing they'd all be griping for my notes, and I probably wouldn't be getting them back.

About ten minutes later, the announcements came on, signaling the end of the day. I usually didn't listen to them, but today something caught my attention.
"Hey all you Stallions, don't forget, it's track season again, and we can't wait to see our own Brydon James out there! But don't forget to sign up! Sign ups start tomorrow!" I saw from the corner of my eye Brydon and his friends high-fiveing each other excitedly, and Alia gave Brydon an adoring hug. It made me want to puke, and as soon as the bell rang, I picked my stuff up and barged right passed them, not even stopping to acknowledge the comments they made towards me.

Chapter 2

The next day I stuffed my bag in my drawing covered locker. I pin each one up inside and at the end of the year I tear them all down, signifying a new beginning. I studied my newest own, the one Brydon liked. It now had a a girl running frantically away from the oncoming figure. I smiled at my work. The fear in her eyes, the blankness in his. I was so engrossed in studying my drawing, I must've jumped ten feet in the air when Brydon tapped me on the shoulder.
"Uh, sorry." he said strangely.
"Stop scaring me like that!" I told him fiercely.
"Um, sorry, I just needed to hand these back to you." he held out my notes, as perfect as when I'd given it to him. I reached in my bag and pulled out the notes I'd re-copied off my friend Millie.
"You thought I wouldn't give these back?" he asked, shocked
"Nope." I said surely, shoving my notes back in my bag.
"Well, Lacey Brooks, you have to learn I'm a man of my word." he said quietly, quickly handing my notes back and walking stiffly away.

Chapter 3

"Hey, whats up with Brydon today?" That was my best friend, Millie Richards. She has a huge crush on Brydon and he's all she ever talks about.
"What am I, his stalker? No wait that's you." I laughed as she glared at me. She otherwise ignored my comment and continued on.
"He seems sad and stuff," she said, chewing on a Snickers bar "I heard a rumor him and Alia broke up." she smiled at the thought, and I knew she was imagining her and Brydon running through a field of flowers together or something. I hadn't told her Brydon had borrowed my notes yet, but this was the perfect time to drop the bomb on her.
"Yeah, he seemed preoccupied when I talked to him today." I smiled as she gaped at me, her Snickers dropping into her lap, completely forgotten.
"YOU DID WHAT?!" she yelled, and the practicing softball team turned to stare at us on the bleachers.
"Remember when I borrowed your notes to copy them? Yeah, he borrowed mine and I was sure I wasn't going to get them back so I copied yours."
"He BORROWED your notes?!" she said, and let out a little scream of delight. "Tell me everything

he said to you!"
And with that, I started into a two hour long explanation of everything Brydon James had said, did, and how he looked when he said it.

Chapter 4

"If you love Brydon James so much, then go talk to him!" I stopped Millie mid-sentence, as she was explaining how Brydon had
