Chapter One: September 7th,2010 The First Day
"Mom come on I am going to be late for the first day of school!"
"Alright sweetheart Iβm coming wait a minute."
I sit and wait for my mom while I brush my pitch black hair that came a little pass my shoulders and lotion my caramel hands with coco butter. I glance at the clock and ten minutes have passed. I knew I wasn't going to be late because school starts at 8:00, I just wanted to see my friends I haven't seen all summer.
"Nicole are you ready?" My mom came in and said.
"I been ready for the past twenty minutes mom." I responded with a smile.
Once I got to the doors of Wakefield High School I saw my best friend Brian Hernandez.
"Brian, hey how are you doing it's so good to see you!" I said as I came running to hug him.
I couldnβt see him all summer because his parents took him to Mexico to see his family.
"Hey Nicole how you been? I see you haven't grown!" He said with a smile.
"Haha very funny Brian. Well I can't say the same with you, how much did you grow you giant? I said when we walked into the school lobby.
Brian was tall and he had hair that came pass his ear and over one of his eyes, it was straight and though it looked black it was dark brown. He was Hispanic with golden hazel eyes. With a light pecan colored skin. His passion was to skate. All he did was skate bored and sometimes he would attempt or try to teach me if I don't kill my self first.
"So what class do you have first?" Asked Brian as we walked around puzzled on where we were going.
"Ummm, let's see, English with Mr. Jackson, room 204. How about you?"
"Awesome same here. Hope this one don't hate me!" Brian said with sarcasm.
Brian was smart he just didn't like school. I mean he did not get E's and D's He kept them in the C range. As long as he passed he was OK, in his eyes. But this year he is trying to get some A's at least, he got B's before but he just wants A's I guess.
The bell rang for first period. I stop and asked for directions so Brian and I can get to our English Class. The Teacher who guided us pointed to a class room down the hall. While a middle aged Teacher stood by the door with a frozen face of seriousness.
"Maybe his face just is like that." Said Brian as we walked towards the class.
"Maybe, I don't know. Um Hi Mr. Jackson I am Nicole Turner." I said when I put my hand out expecting to get a hand shake.
All he did was stay in that frozen position. Brian looked and smiled at Mr. Jackson and quickly shoved me into the class room as he followed.
"Man, that was weird, he just stood there!" said Brian as he took a seat next to me.
"That was really weird." I quickly responded.
We sit there silently as we watched Mr. Jackson walk across the room for role call.
