Chapter 6

Jacob

I watch Judy order for me and her. We were in our fourth date at the mall. I didn’t really like her being here in the beginning, but she helped me a lot in forgetting about Jan- I mean Ricky’s Sister. I started to like her, so I asked her out. I didn’t want her to leave me now that I depended on her a lot. She went to my school too, so that was a plus. I was a loner for a pretty long time before she transferred to our school. When ever I made a new friend, either male or female, I was always trying to find things that I could find of HER in them. Like if a guy had HER eyes and the color of HER hair or if a girl had HER personality and HER lips. I got sick of it so I just stopped trying to make friends. Judy is different because I knew her before I knew HER. Judy helped me get friends and not think about HER.
Judy walks back to our table, and hands me the receipt, “Well that was expensive babe, and you didn’t need to buy all that. You need to diet yourself for football.” She said before kissing me. Oh yeah, and I am now the new quarterback, since Ricky is in Texas, someone hinted that I had a good arm, and I was strong, so the coach made me do a few passes and I was on the team. I was also the ‘New Ricky’ of the school. Everyone knew who I was and everyone wanted me or wanted to be friends; I tried knowing as much as people as I can and I tried to be the nicest guy and the best boyfriend. I try to be the opposite of what I was with HER.
Judy puts her hands over mine, and looks into my eyes. I lean forward so I could put my forehead against hers, “I love you.” I whispered. Judy stares for a moment, surprised, but then she breathes back, “I love you too.” I smiled and kissed her. I knew I loved her, maybe not the same way as I did for HER. Judy helped me a lot and no one told her to. I was pretty harsh towards her in the beginning, yelling at her to leave me alone but now we were known as the ‘It Couple’, destined to go to prom and be together even after Highschool. This year in Highschool will be different from freshman year and sophomore, I just knew it.
Me and Judy continued our date, laughing, holding hands and kissing, which I liked a lot. After we finished our food, we started walking around the mall. A few people said hi to us but other than that we were totally into each other, not really paying attention to anyone else. I stopped in my tracks, “Janet?” I turned around toward the girl who looked like her. Judy touched my arm, “Jacob? She’s not here, come on. You don’t need her no more.” ‘You’re wrong I do need her, and I want her with so much instead of you.’ That’s what I thought but what I said was, “Yeah, you’re right babe, I don’t need her no more because I have you.” I have to be the perfect boyfriend.
We continued our date, and I dropped her off at her house after. “You really need a car, babe, then you would be perfect.” Judy told me jokingly, after we kissed, that stung. Janet would have NEVER said that to me even joking. “I’ll get right on that.” I told her, I have to be the perfect boyfriend.
I walked to back to my house, taking the usual long way, so I could pass HER house. I look at ground while walking; I always pass HER house so I guess I’m a little not over her. I stop, why is there light in the house? I duck in a nearby bush.
“Janet!! Wait!” A guy’s voice says close by me. “Did you see that? Did you see her all over HIM?” My breathing stops, that’s HER voice. No, it can’t be, but I have to make sure. I peek through some leaves, making sure I can’t be seen yet. I see two pairs of legs, a guy’s and a girl’s. I look up at their faces, and I stare. It was HER and some guy.
“You don’t know if they were together or not.” The guy told her. “Are you freaking kidding me?? It was so obvious, it was sickening.” was my angel’s reply. “I just know it ok? Gosh I leave then he goes for the next best thing! I hate HIM!” No my angel, it wasn’t like that! Don’t hate me! “Don’t hate him; he was your first love,” Yes score one for the dude! Come on convince her to love me again, he may be my best friend right this moment, “I’m not saying you should love him again, but don’t completely forget him. Come here.” No, he just went from my best friend to my enemy!! My rival is hugging my angel! “You know I think you are right, I have to get over him, Jonny, let’s go.” My angel just broke my heart all over again.
