Law 1: When Your Fairytale World Crumbles You Know Longer Know

Dedrick's P.O.V.
"Man, get the fuck off me before I beat yo' ass," I said. Peanut sat down on the other side of me and just grinned. Then his face fell when he realized I wasn't playing with him. So instead he just lit a joint and puffed and passed it to me. I held it for a while and watched as the smoke began to evaporate. Then, the next thing me and Peanut know Joshua and Steve come busting through the door all sweaty and shit with their guns drawn. Me and Peanut get up trying to figure out what's going on, but then I saw Steve's face. While Joshua was locking the door, Steve was trying to tell me to sit down.
I did, but then I saw the look both of them were giving me. Then Steve told me. I was breaking down inside. Then Steve and Joshua weren't the only ones with guns drawn. They told me it was Deontae and his crew. That sent me even more over the edge. We went to where they found Rico. When we got there blood was all over the grass flowing like a never ending river, but I knew it would eventually run out. I called the cops and before they got there I took off the chain mom gave Rico before she died.
Everyone came out their houses and began crowding around the crime scene. I just stood there silently watching the people zip my brother up in the black bag and send him away. When the cops asked me if I wanted to come down for questioning I told them, "Naw, I'll just come down in the morning if you don't mind." They just nodded their head and said, "Sure." Joshua, Steve, and Peanut went back home after I told them I was fine and just needed to be alone.
Once they left, I roared at the sky. I fell to my knees and screamed at God asking him why not me. "He didn't deserve it. You could've picked anybody else? You just had to take him didn't you, " I yelled at the sky with the first tears I've cried since I was seven - since Mom died. Then I fell to ground with my surroundings quickly fading, turning to nothing, turning to black.
When I woke up my body was covered in sweat. My room was dark and the only I could hear at the moment was that annoying frog stuck in the wall and the crickets outside. Then I realized it was just a dream. The next thing I know my alarm goes off and as I roll off my bed to turn it off I felt two chains fall off of my throat. I put them in my hands and realized it wasn't just a dream. I closed my eyes to keep the tears from coming.
Then I went to my closet and pulled out my suit. It's been three weeks since Rico died and his funeral is taking place at the place Mom had him baptized. I think he would really like that. He always did love the Lord. When my father and I got there the church was stl empty. We unlocked the door with the spare key the pastor gave us and began setting everything up. As soon as the doors opened I felt freezing cool breeze pass through me. It reminded me of how Rico always loved when it was cold. I had to lean against one of the pews in the church just to keep my balance. It was about an hour later when Joshua, Steve, ans Peanut and their family came along to help us. One of Peanut's uncles gave us a disscount on the casket and everything else.
It was around eleven when everyone else finally was here. When we got to the graveyard and was putting Rico in the ground all of a sudden the sky cleared as if God was telling us this was meant to be. As the people were burying Rico bullets raced through the wind. Everyone either ducked or fell to the ground. I looked around me to make sure everyone was okay and they were, but when I got to my father he was laying on the ground still with blood quickly escaping his body. I screamed at someone to call the ambulance. I didn't check to see if they did, necauseI'm pretty sure he's gone, and whoever shot that bullet is gonna be gone too. As I raised my head slightly to see if I could see who did it the blood in me began to boil. I can't believe this shit. Then I raced toward the person the fastest I could. As I was about to tackle the person to ground, everything went by so fast. I could hear Steve yelling at me to stop, but that did know good. Everything then was a mixture of black and red.

Law 2: Eventually It Won't Hurt As Much

Ace's P.O.V.
It's been three months since the new guy got here. His name's Dedrick. He doesn't talk. I'm not exactly sure his story yet and except he ain't got any family. Well, he's kinda lucky I guess because he's only has one year left in the system. I got four left. Anyway, it's just me and him in this place. We stay with the Anderson's - a.k.a worst people in the world. I think of them as the Devil's right hand demons to do his dirty work upon the weak and just about everyone they come in contact with.
It's Tuesday and two o'clock in the morning. I can't sleep. The wind is blowing outside causing a headache to explode repeatedly within my brain. It's almost as if I can feel the blood vessels in my head pulsing and swelling.I place my head under the pillow and it seems as if instead the noise quieting down it grows steadily louder waiting for me to begin clawing at my scalp to rip my hair, then my skull.
Eventually, I hear a knock on the door. I tense up and stay completely still. It's almost as if the pain in my head disappears - almost. I lay still and pretend I'm asleep. Then, I thought about - Mr.Anderson never knocks. He just barges in. I slowly peek from under the pillow and saw the new boy. I raised myself up and sat down on the bed covering myself with the pillow since I have no sheet, or cover, or blanket.
He had a cup in one of his hands and holding something in the other one which I'm assuming is a pill or pills.
Me: What?
Demetri didn't say anything. He just placed the cup beside me and put the pill on the air mattress beside me and left me alone in the room. Before I could say thank you he was already out of the room leaving my thank you to linger in the air breaking the silence and leaving me lonelier than before.
When I woke up later on that morning I had no headache and felt completely relaxed. I got up and stretched. It felt good to fel my muscles puling apart and contracting. I opened the small dresser next to me and pulled out a pair of dark gray skinny jeans with a t shirt that had a picture of Sojouner Truth on it. It was my favorite. I also grabbed a pair of underwear and a bra and my towel.
As I was heading to the bathroom I noticed steam feeling the whole entire hallway. I assumed it was coming from the bathroom. I began walking back to my room, but before I could even take a step my things came tumbling out of my arms onto the dirty floor. I bent down to pick it all up, but allI had to pick up was my bra. I stood up to figure out who picked up the rest, but I couldn't tell who it was because of all the steam. I suppected the new bow though because no one else in the household would. I said thank you only to have no reply back. I waved my hand through the steam and felt nothing.
Instead of continuing my way on back to my room, I went back to my original course. When I got inside the bathroom I closed the door and wiped the mirror down with my towel. I gazed at myself then quickly looked away.
I stripped til I was nude and turned the water on unitl it was at its coldest temperature. I usually take semi cold showers, but now I need the chills on full blastbecause of all the heat in here. As soon as the water hit my skin I immediately felt the goose bumps rise, but instead of shivering I sighed and closed my eyes. I began washing myself and for some reason my mind began wandering off an started thinking about the new guy,Dedrick.I usually take this time out for my self pity. You know I get my little cry out and be done for the rest of the day. This time though there were no tears spilt, only a slight smile struggling to creep across my face. When the water finally turned off the smile did a victory dance upon my grimaced stone face and stayed there until the loud banging began rigth on time at 7:45 a.m.(to be continued)
