I wished I was never put into that position.
Bonded to a chair, I looked on helplessly as a large burly man dragged in two people extremely close to me. My best friend of over 10 years, Trisha Fawley, and my boyfriend of 3 years, Anthony Hodgkins, pleaded with me to save them. But I couldn't save them both. It was one or the other, a decision I had to make, but couldn't.
The man drew a gun from it's holster, and smiled at me, but it didn't reach his eyes. "So which one will it be, dear?" He had asked, loading the gun with copper bullets. "Which one will you save?"
Both of thier eyes were sad and desperate. I didn't know what to do, begging the man would've done nothing, he would've killed them both.
After careful deliberation, I made my decision. The man loomed over me, knowing I had the power of death in my hands. The thought scared me.
"Kill.." I started, but broke off into frusturated sob. I could feel thier heartbearts, hear them in my head. Both of thier lives were hanging in the air like a balloon, and it was my decision to pop one. "Kill... the girl."
I looked up and saw Trisha's pain filled eyes. She started sobbing, mascara staining her cheeks. "Why? Why Mary? Why did you kill me?" She whispered.
That was the last thing I will ever hear her say. The gun went off, and her head exploded off her shoulders. I watched, horrified, as blood and skull fragments rained on her now lifeless body.
Now, many years later, I regret my decision.
Three or four years after her death, me and Anthony got married. I never realized the man I was marrying until after the honeymoon.
Anthony was replaced by a diabolical monster. Every chance he got, he beated me, leaving horrible bruises. He would handcuff me to the bedpost and rape me. Often, he called me a dirty whore, a cunt, and plenty of other horrible names. he curses my existence every hour of every day.
I hate him, and I'll trade my soul, in a heartbeat, for the death of this man.
That, and to bring Trisha back.
