“I can’t believe I trusted you.” Janelle slammed the door so hard it bounced back open. Catching it, Ian followed her inside.
“Janelle, please. I never lied. Have a little faith.”
“Faith? Faith? You taught me better a long time ago.”
“I love you, Janelle. I promise you, I’ve never done anything wrong. Why don’t you believe me?” Ian reached for Janelle and pulled her close to him.
“My mother said—“
“You can’t trust her! I love you, Janie. I never lied.”
“I can’t do this. We’re over Ian. You have to leave.” She shoved him out the door.


Oh! Hey, what is that? There it is. There it is again. Where did it go? Where did it go? There. Now it’s over there. Extend claws out. Sneak across the ground. Stop. Don’t move. Watch it. Watch it. Don’t lose it. It is lost! No it isn’t. What is that? Stalk. Stalk. Attack. Miss. Stalk. Where is it? There it is. Come here. Don’t move. Don’t move. Lift up ears. Tense up muscles. Don’t make a sound. Buzzz. What is that? Here it comes. Gotcha! Look at what the cat dragged in. That poor fly didn’t stand a chance.


“It is the middle of January! Why are you in your boxers?” Bethany inquired.
“I’m going swimming, if someone joins me.”
“It’s too cold. I’m out.” Matt pulled his shirt back on over his head.
Kane laughed. “No one is going to swim with me?”
“There’s ice in the river. You’re nuts.” Someone yelled.
“I’ll swim!” Danni volunteered.
“You’re not going to do it.” Bethany denied.
Danni stripped down to her underwear.
“Oh, maybe you are?”
“Yes.” Danni smiled and stepped into the river. Kane followed as she waded out a few feet and then both dived under the water.
