Chapter 7
Janet
I look around, searching for HIM. I asked a few people and everyone said he will be at the mall, which I didn’t believe. I hear Jonny behind me, looking around too but not knowing what to look for.
I go to his favorite spots, and to the stores that I think I might find him at, but I don’t see him. I start going to the food court, thinking how much he used to love to eat, maybe he started liking it after I left?
I feel Jonny’s hand on my arm,”Hey I have a question, what are you going to do if you find him and he’s forgotten about you? Or if he has a girlfriend?” I stop and look at him. I haven’t even considered that. I think for a minute. “Hello? What will you do Janet? What if he didn’t want you no more?” What would HE do if I was to forget him, which is not possible, but WHAT IF? I breathe in a shaky breath, “Nothing, I wouldn’t do anything about it.” I close my eyes to not let the tears escape.
“Hey is this guy tall with curly hair and green eyes?” He suddenly asks. I open my eyes and look at him, “Yes.” Jonny pondered for a second, seeming to think about something, deciding, “And does he have a mole near his eyebrow and left cheek?” Can it be? Is it my Jacob? “Yes!! That’s him! Why? Do you see him?! Where show me?!” I yell, grabbing onto his face with my hands. That surprises him for moment, and then he moves his eyes to the back of me.
I turn around hopeful, but then just turn back towards Jonny. “It ca-a-n’t be him. That Isn’t My Jacob.” I whisper-scream. That Jock can’t be him. My Jacob Wasn’t in football, My Jacob Didn’t had any muscles, and My Jacob WAS MINE, not some tall, blonde SLUT.
I walk towards him, pulling Jonny with me, determined for a moment, on asking him what was going on; until, Jonny whispered to me, “Remember what we talked about a moment ago.” My brain thought back to what I said, and I immediately got avoided getting noticed by him by side stepping him and looking the other way. After that I continued walking, faster, unconsciously. Tears ran down my face, as I head towards my spot at the park, where we had our first date and kiss. I sat down on the bench, and staring into the ground, for what seemed like hours.
Finally, I hear Jonny cough, “Um. We should get going now…” I stand up and walk towards the house with him following. I start walking faster, and then I started running. “Janet!! Wait!” Jonny screams. I stop near a bush and I tell him, “Did you see that? Did you see her all over HIM?” I turn around to face him.
“You don’t know if they were together or not.” He whispers to me.” Are you freaking kidding me?? It was so obvious, it was sickening.” I scoffed. “I just know it ok? Gosh I leave then he goes for the next best thing! I hate HIM!” Wait. Do I really hate him? Yes I actually think that I do! “Don’t hate him; he was your first love,” Jonny tells me, looking into my eyes, “I’m not saying you should love him again, but don’t completely forget him. Come here.” He opens his arms and I step into his strong arms and I think for a moment. “You know I think you are right, I have to get over him, Jonny, let’s go.” I walk towards the house.
Chapter 8
Jacob
I step out of the bush slowly and stare at her house. Did that really happen? I stand there like an idiot, waiting for something to happen or something to confirm that what happened was real. Is my babygirl real back?
The step door of her house opens and I take a step forward, hoping. My sudden hope vanishes to dust as I see that it’s Ricky. I’m not scared of Ricky no more. He does look bigger than last time I saw him. He sits down in the steps, the same steps where he was kicking my ass last year. He stays there for a moment and swears.
I walk towards him, slowly wondering what’s he’s going to do if he sees me. The last time I saw him was when I kidnapped Janet from her class and I ditch him after. He lifts his head, sees me and freezes.
“Hey, Ricky.” I whisper lowly. That does the job. He unfreezes, stands on his feet and shoves me. I catch my fall with my hands and stand up fast. He pulls back his fist, and tries punching me, I catch his punch. “Hey, I’m not here to fight.” I tell him. He ignores me and knees my stomach. I fall to the ground groaning.
Ricky closes his eyes for a moment, trying to catch his breath even though I’m the one on the ground. “You told me that you loved her.” He whispers, eyes still close. I was about to say something but he cuts me off, “You even stood up to me, I thought I could trust you after that. I thought you wouldn’t break her heart. When I heard we were coming back, I was going to say that it was ok for you two to date, I rather have you then Jonny, damn that’s kids a physco. But I was wrong; you couldn’t even wait for her!! For a little short year, for her! I will never let you touch her again!” He says everything with a frustrated face.
I stand up, thinking about what he said, and I reply him with this, “You’re sister broke my heart.” I stare straight at his eyes. “No she didn’t broke it, she destroyed it! She made it almost not possible to use it again. That chick.” I laugh darkly. “She destroyed me when she left me without a goodbye. Judy, was the only one there for me, she was the only one that cared for me! I didn’t know what Janet was thinking? I thought she hated me, I thought she was disgusted with me, so I did the only thing I could do,” I whispered, “I moved on.”
And with that I walked away, thinking that it was the last time I was going to have to face the past.
