I run past the castle walls but I donโt make it far. The guards. โWhat is the Princess doing out of the castle?โ A guard asks, blocking my way. โI donโt know, lets guide her back in.โ The other one says with a devious smile. โIโm running away!โ I say excitedly. I had to think fast. โLOOK OUT! BEHIND YOU!โ I yell, and they both turn around. I push them aside and run further away. Now they are on horses chasing after me. I run into the forest, panting and gasping for air. I stop. Thereโs a brown horse in front of me, with no rider. Should I ride it? Before I can think anymore a hand grabs me and pulls me behind a tree. A hand covers my mouth, as the guards pass by on their horses. The person lets go of me and I slap him. โOuch!โ He screams. Immediately I feel terrible. I slapped Max. โMax! I didnโt know it was you! I thought you were a different person, or a guard.โ I rub his cheek. He swips my hand away. I back away.
โAre you crazy Princess!โ He yells, grabbing my hand, and pulling me onto his horse.
โI am many of things, but I am not crazy, Max.โ I giggle kissing his cheek, and wrapping my arms around his waist.
โAnd what are even out here for?โ
โTo become free like you.โ
โIโm not free.โ
โYes you are, you can do anything you want, anytime you want.โ
โIf you say so.โ
I giggle and bounce with excitement. โWill you explore with me?โ
โOf course I will.โ Max replies squeezing my hands. I am going to have a whole new perspective of life.
We arrive in the village. I point to these wooden structures, with food. โWhat are those?โ I ask Max.
โThatโs our market area. Where we buy food.โ Max answers, waving to the lady who works in the market business. I wave too but she just stares. Thatโs what happened with every villager. I began to worry and didnโt realize Max had stopped the horse. โWe are here!โ He yells. I jump off the horse and my feet hit dirt. I look in front of me and see a shack. I gulp. โIs this your house?โ I utter. Max nods looking proud. โI built it.โ I try not to laugh, and as if to save from doing it a plump old woman comes out of the shack. โEllo, Maximus!" She exclaims. โEllo mother." HE mumbles grabbing my hand. โThis is my friend Pri- Audra, this is Audra.โ He stutters. I giggle, and he pushes me out in front of his mother. โWhy, sheโs a beauty isnโt she now?โ The woman seems to look at me like a museum wax model. I blush at her comment. โLet me show you inside dear, I think you might like something I have.
