Remembering Altair by Rob Astor (types of ebook readers TXT) đź“•
Excerpt from the book:
This is a collection of lyrical poetry inspired by the recent sudden loss of the person I was most close to in this whole world. Every part is a glimpse or a picture of a feeling or a frustration while I continue to wade through the unsure aftermath of her passing.

a new disguise
There’s a long, long way to go
There’s miles of road ahead
You gotta keep your chin up
Lonely weathered man-pup
I depended on every word you said
Bring on the rain
No more hiding behind a cloudy mask of pain
Bring on the rain
Let me count the ways to bring on the rain
I’ll never see your face again
You’ve gone to a better place than I am
Isn’t that cause and effect enough
To bring on the rain
Bring on the rain
Don’t let my tears stain
Or wipe away the marks on my heart
Sometimes I need to remember the pain
I’ll never see your face again
You’ve gone to a better place than I am
Isn’t that cause and effect enough
To bring on the rain
Voice No Longer Heard
August 2 - 20, 2010
The world ended tonight
There was a knock on your window on the seventh floor
Angels came and carried you away right out the door
And my world ended tonight
Nothing can hold back my floodgate of tears
Nothing can tell you how much I treasure the years
The world ended tonight
Peaceful and warm in a light from another world
I can’t sum up our lives in a few simple words
When the world ended tonight
Your voice became the voice no longer heard
When the world ended that night
I wanted to hold your hand and be right by your side
I wanted to tell you where to meet me and go into the light
But when the world ended that night
You were sleeping soundly in your bed all alone
While I looked forward to the day I could bring you back home
And my world ended that night
Against every belief I felt was sure
Now your spirit soars away like a bird
The world ended tonight
Your voice is the voice no longer heard
No more carrying the burden of this life
No more fighting to put everything right
Go in peace now
The world ends tonight
Go in peace
Forever sleep
The world ends tonight
Written In The Sky
September 12 - 20, 2010
Does Apollo play the lyre today
Does your eagle soar ever higher
Does her swan swim in the river of the Milky-Way
Do her eyes of blue and gold shine brighter
It’s written in the sky
This ballad of a fallen comrade
The serpent caught on one side
On the other, a dream a flying stallion had
Good fortune in a dolphin leaping
Secrets of the warm summer forever keeping
Even though you’re far away this September
All I have to do is read the stars and remember
Your stars dip low in the western sky
Will it soon be out of sight, out of mind
Will you remember me next summer
You know these sunny summer days are numbered
It’s written in the sky
This ballad of a fallen comrade
The serpent caught on one side
On the other, a dream a flying stallion had
Good fortune in the dolphin leaping
Secrets of the warm summer forever keeping
Even though you’re far away this September
All I have to do is read the stars and remember
Remember me like I remember you
Stay with me, I feel close to you
Today I’m hurting
Can tomorrow ease the pain
Will it dry up all the rain
Or will everything still be the same
Don’t let your spirit fade
I still need you to stay
I need someone to watch over me
So your star is where I keep my memories
Guardian angel, guide me on my way
Guardian angel, voice of conscious everyday
Intuition
All the stars turn where I’ve sent my memories
But it’s your star that’s most important to me
Today I’m hurting
Can tomorrow ease the pain
Will it dry up all the rain
Or will everything still be the same
Will you remember me next summer
You know these sunny summer days are numbered
Precious Melancholy
June 15 - July 25, 2010
Don’t deny me
My right to hold onto my hurt for a little while
I’ll get through this
When the rain stops after walking a few more miles
Maybe I don’t deserve a life
Maybe I don’t deserve to survive
Maybe my tears can fill the wide open sea
If my job is done
For better, for worse
Give me a destiny
The day you left is the day I became
One more lost cause in this insane cosmic game
Don’t deny me
My right to hold onto my anger for a few more days
Anger fades away
When the healing begins, there’s really nothing more to say
Maybe I don’t deserve a life
Maybe I don’t deserve to survive
Maybe my tears can fill the wide open sea
If my job is done
For better, for worse
Give me a destiny
I’ll be brutally honest, just give me a nod
There are days I feel like I’m at war with God
I loved you so much
You’ll never know
I loved you so strong
I couldn’t let go
Not yesterday, not today
Loneliness the depth of my pain
Not tomorrow, not next week
Walking down these rain drenched streets
There’s a voice calling you back home
I can’t sacrifice everything
I’m not strong enough to let you go
I need to hold onto my sadness just a little bit longer
I need to hold onto it till it makes me stronger
Don’t you dare deny me my need
To hold onto my precious melancholy
Walking With Ghosts
July 16, 2010
Always remember those sunny days
Always remember our way
Through the park and home to our backyard
Always remember happy times
And how our days flew by
Then time ran out and time stopped hard
Now I’m living days that never end
Walking around in shadows of the past
Walking around in todays that never last
Walking around an empty house with ghosts
Am I strong enough to let your spirit go
Something in me died the day you left me
Something in me cries out to see
Your smiling face just one more time
Something in me just can’t go on
Something in me knows it’s wrong
There’s too many mountains I can’t climb
And I’m living weeks that never end
Walking around in shadows of the past
Walking around in todays that never last
Walking around an empty life with ghosts
Am I strong enough to let your spirit go
I don’t wanna be alone
Something in me died the day you left me
Something in me cries out to see
Your smiling face just one more time
Something in me just can’t go on
Something in me knows it’s wrong
There’s too many mountains I can’t climb
And I’m living years that never end
Walking around in shadows of the past
Walking around in todays that never last
Walking around my empty world with ghosts
Am I strong enough to let your spirit go
I don’t wanna be alone
Bridge To Your Star
August 23 - 24, 2010
Last night I flew right up into the lavender sky
I plucked a star from Heaven
I’ll let it be my guide
So my soul can go wherever you are
I’m gonna build a bridge to your star
When I dream of you the dream feels like reality
Like you never left and the past never changed
When I hold you close I can feel you right next to me
And the conversations we share about life and forgiving
Give me the insight and that comfort that I seek
Thinking of you is better than dreary reality
It’s almost like I can hold you, everything’s the same
I see you in my mind at your house by the sea
Waiting for the day your arms open welcoming
Send me the strength and let my memories keep
Last night I flew right up into the clear blue sky
And plucked a star from Heaven
I let it be my guide
So my soul can travel wherever you are
I’m building a bridge to your star
If I can share with you about what I think
The most loving people forever remain
In a Paradise built by all the meek
Voices unified by songs they are singing
Pull us back from the darkness of the deep
Last night I flew up into the rosy golden sky
And plucked a star from Heaven
I let it be my guide
So my soul can travel wherever you are
I’m walking across a bridge to your star
Meet me at the corner
Meet me at the corner
I’m walking across this bridge I built to your star
Too Afraid To Fly
September 5, 2010
I had to grow under your nurturing wings
I needed to learn a few things
Because of you, into a person I grew
I’m terrified
Now that you’re not at my side
No more midnight rendezvous
No more partners in crime
The greatest gift you gave
Was giving me a brand new day
You knew better than anyone at a glance
I never wasted a chance
You need to know something
You didn’t clip my wings
I was too afraid to fly
Yes, I was too afraid to fly
With your arms wrapped around me tight
Everything in my world was right
Don’t let anyone say you held me back
I was too afraid to fly
How can I ever soar up into the sky
When I’m too afraid to fly
Ours lives and our destinies were intertwined
I never left the nest, stayed by your side
We shared a life only a few get to find
Because of you I discovered the truth
The strength of love inside
Our paths will cross again in time
In trails of stardust leading to the moon
When life has lost all reason and rhyme
The greatest gift you gave
Was giving me a brand new day
You knew better than anyone at a glance
I never once wasted a chance
Understand one thing
You didn’t clip my wings
I was too afraid to fly
Yes, I was too afraid to fly
With your arms wrapped around me tight
Everything in my world was safe and right
You never held me back, never held me back
I was too afraid to fly
How can I ever touch the sky
When I’m too afraid to fly
Our destinies and our lives were intertwined
I Have To Write Another Song
September 8, 2010
When everything in my world is wrong
I have to write another song
At their heart
The best laid plans
Fall apart
Slip away like hourglass sand
The best of me
I don’t know how to give
Locked deep inside, no one sees
I never really learned to live
Tumultuous emotional sea
Mid-life crisis
A soul crying out to be free
Not frozen in place like this
Just as I get started
Will I reach my expiration date
Join the dearly departed
What a cruel twist of fate
Searching for light at the end of this tunnel
While through this dream state I muddle
When everything in my world is wrong
I have to write another song
Take me away
Pass a healing hand over my life
Why should I stay
To deal with never ending strife
This wasn’t the path I chose
How does it make me stronger
I’m crushed underfoot, you know
Give me a reason to hold on a little bit longer
Searching
There’s a long, long way to go
There’s miles of road ahead
You gotta keep your chin up
Lonely weathered man-pup
I depended on every word you said
Bring on the rain
