Remembering Altair by Rob Astor (types of ebook readers TXT) 📕
Excerpt from the book:
This is a collection of lyrical poetry inspired by the recent sudden loss of the person I was most close to in this whole world. Every part is a glimpse or a picture of a feeling or a frustration while I continue to wade through the unsure aftermath of her passing.

No one should ever have to live this way
No, this was never the plan
It was only by chance it happened this way
Time to turn it around and make it go away
The happy person returns
I’m coming back through
I’m gonna banish the darkness
Make a brand new start, yes
Push it away
Shove it aside
Lock the door
Keep it outside
Push it away
Shove it aside
Lock the door
Keep it outside
Push it away
Shove it aside
Lock the door
Keep it outside
Push it away
Shove it aside
Lock the door
Keep it outside
Today Is Only Thursday
July 18, 2010
Like a robot
Punch the clock on Monday
Stamp and repeat
Time to eat, no time to play
Cogs and gears
How many years past Tuesday
My back is sore
Clothes are worn, throw them away
Seems like the world’s going by
While I do everything to survive
This isn’t how I want to die
But I never make headway
Trapped and boxed
Break the locks this Wednesday
Gotta escape
Dead end, no name, cubical bay
Seems like the world’s going by
While I do everything to survive
This isn’t how I want to die
But I never make headway
But today is only Thursday
Only one day to go until the weekend
I will come out of my shell
And have a party with my friends
When the moon goes down and the sun comes up
I’m always in a rush for tomorrow
When the sun goes down and the moon comes up
I dream away yesterday’s sorrow
Today is only Thursday
Tomorrow becomes yesterday
When tomorrow passes away
I’m dreaming on Thursday
Today is only Thursday
Only one day to go until the weekend
I will come out of my shell
And have a party with my friends
When the moon goes down and the sun comes up
I’m always in a rush for tomorrow
When the sun goes down and the moon comes up
I dream away yesterday’s sorrow
Today is only Thursday
Tomorrow becomes yesterday
When tomorrow passes away
I’m dreaming on Thursday
Hang in there, baby
Hang in there, baby
Today is only Thursday
The Black Pearl
September 20, 2010
Take me away
Let me climb on board
I want to follow you right out of this discord
I don’t know your life
But I can learn to soar
If only my love could afford me the chance
To join the dance
And dive into the sea
Right into the black pearl and warm in the glow of sisters of harmony
Cut me down to the bone
Your voices fill me up when I’m all alone
Everything you write comes from heavens unfurled
It’s a different world inside your room and outside the black pearl
Take me away
Let me live in your shadow
With you not present my life is painfully hallow
I know my place
No escaping the night
You touch me with your light, the gift of words
That my riven soul has heard
Moving in another direction
I have no black pearl, no way to win over your affection
Cut me down to the bone
Your voices fill me up when I’m all alone
Everything you do comes from heavens unfurled
It’s a different world inside your room and outside the black pearl
Take me away
Take me away
Take me away
Take me away
I cry out inside
Take me away
Take me away
Let me come along for the ride
Tempest
July 22 - 25, 2010
Canyons and waterfalls
Rivers and cleansing spray
Flickering lights and flashing raindrops
Turn the clock back for just one day
Burning intensity
Torrid humidity
I close my eyes now
You’re at my side now
Reliving our yesterdays
At the point out on Lake Erie
Sudden summer storm
Shimmering sheet lightning
Something tore a window into my soul
There’s no way to fight it
Power of the tempest
Is the torrent of sentiment
Drenching rain now
Erasing pain now
Like time mending all wounds
Never underestimate the power
Summer Triangle rises higher
Altair will always remember
I can’t go on this way
Silhouette clouds finger painted
Across the face of the hazy full moon
Reflecting off restless Lake Erie
Ferris Wheels
Give way to roller coasters
Rumbling thunderous sound
Beating heart of the warrior
Silhouette clouds finger painted
Across the face of the hazy full moon
Reflecting off restless Lake Erie
Parking lot of sea gulls
Feel like I’m in “The Birds”
Time launch me forward
Head filled with images and words
My prayer for you
Watch out for me
After hottest, darkest hours
Cool night breeze, energizing power
Summer Triangle rises higher
Altair will always remember
I can’t go on this way
Silhouette clouds finger painted
Across the face of the hazy full moon
Reflecting off restless Lake Erie
Ferris Wheels
Give way to roller coasters
Rumbling thunderous sound
Beating heart of the warrior
Silhouette clouds finger painted
Across the face of the hazy full moon
Reflecting off restless Lake Erie

Something tore a window into my soul
There’s no way to fight it
Power of the tempest
Is the torrent of sentiment
Drenching rain now
Erasing pain now
Like time mending all wounds
Never underestimate the power
Never forget I love you
Even though I can’t go on with you
My life is starting anew
The Summer Triangle rises higher
Altair will always remember
Standing at my window
Brilliant sun in the clear blue sky
No more storms on my horizon
It’s another humid day mid-July
Willow Bend
July 3 - July 16, 2010
Can you read my thoughts in a letter I’ll never send
Can you heal a broken heart that will never mend
Can you hold my hand and feel my love even when I never said
So much life to live
So much love to give
So many thoughts unfinished
Dreams undreamed
And words left unsaid
Is this how it’s supposed to end
Can you remember tomorrows and relive yesterdays
Can you see which road will put me back on the way
Can you subtract the sadness, stall the madness, hear anything I say
So much life to live
So much love to give
So many thoughts unfinished
Dreams undreamed
And words left unsaid
Is this how it’s supposed to end
If I could sing a song that never ends
I’d keep you by my side, time would have to lend
But I can’t sing forever
I can’t sing a song for you that never ends
When my time comes, remember
Meet me at Willow Bend
You had so much life to live
You had so much love to give
There were so many words left unsaid
I can’t believe this is how it’s supposed to end
If I could sing a song that never ends
I’d keep you by my side, time would have to lend
But I can’t sing forever
I can’t sing a song for you that never ends
When my time comes, remember
I’ll see you at Willow Bend
Don’t Tell Me No
July 18, 2010
Your smile won’t fool me
My eyes reflect every mood of the sea
You might see into my eyes
But you don’t know what’s inside
I’ve lived long enough to know
When not to give up
I’ve lived long enough to know
How to call your bluff
Don’t tell me no
‘Cause I’ll do it anyway
You don’t own me
You don’t control me
My life is my own
And there’s really nothing more to say
Don’t confuse living
With darkness in me
They’re my victories
They’re my mistakes
You don’t own me
You don’t control me
A tantrum won’t get you your own way
And there’s nothing more to say
I walk a path no one else can go
With my head in the clouds
I’ve live long enough to know
Depend on nothing and never give up
I’ve lived long enough to know
When not to give up
I’ve lived long enough to know
How to call your bluff
Don’t tell me no
‘Cause I’ll do it anyway
You don’t own me
You don’t control me
My life is my own
And there’s really nothing more to say
Don’t confuse living
With darkness in me

You don’t own me

Chase The Dream
July 28, 2010
To get anything you want
You gotta do whatever it takes
You gotta be strong enough
To learn from your mistakes
It’s as simple as that
Don’t let a tail spin mess with your head
Never let them tell you your art is dead
You’re never too old and it’s never too late
You can’t go forward standing in place
To get anything you want
You gotta do whatever it takes
Don’t ever stop, don’t ever stop
Not even for a day
Chase it with a passion
Even after you fall on your face
You gotta be strong enough
To learn from your mistakes
You have to try everything
And do whatever it takes
For goodness sake
Do whatever it takes
Don’t let a head wind turn you around
Can’t reach the stars with your feet on the ground
You’re never too old and it’s never too late
You can’t go forward standing in place
To get anything you want
You gotta do whatever it takes
Don’t ever stop, don’t ever stop
Not even for a day
Chase it with a passion
Even after you fall on your face
You gotta be strong enough
To learn from your mistakes
You have to try everything
And do whatever it takes
For Heaven’s sake
Do whatever it takes

Chase the dream
You gotta keep chasing the dream
Keep chasing the dream
Nothing’s ever easy as it seems
Keep chasing the dream
Summer Rain On Ganymede
2005
Diamond dust eyes
Dreaming of warm sunshine
Green fields, morning dew
Clouds of pink floating past paradise
Dreaming of your face
Our special place
I can’t remember your name
Let Jacob’s Star show the way
Sleep walking through my life
No compass point to be my guide
Her kisses caress me
Soft as a summer breeze
When she looks away, I know
A woman’s heart as fickle as the rain on Ganymede
The greatest sorrow, to know
Is a man’s life reduced to nothing but memories
Soundless dreaming
Restless feelings locked inside
Carry me far away
Like star trails turning in the sky
Aurora breaks
My longing heart aches
Why can’t I remember your name
Jacob’s Star will show the way
Sleep walking through my life
No compass point to be my guide
Her kisses caress me
Soft as a summer breeze
When she looks away, I know
A woman’s heart as fickle as the rain on Ganymede
The greatest sorrow, to know
Is a man’s life reduced to nothing but memories
Sleep walking through my life
No compass point to be my guide
Precious as it can be
The gift of love, I may never know
I remember the summer rain on Ganymede
The Long Run
2005
Take the long run
Under cover of night
Walk in the woods
Are they in your sights
Ambient wonder
Riding on a pale horse
Covenant dance
Trigger pulled, no remorse
Perilous journey
Perchance to dream
Dust and echoes
Shadows on a stream
Like brothers in arms
Devils
No one should ever have to live this way
