Parsnips and killed.”
“That is Methuen, no doubt about it,” he mumbled.
There was silence from the other end. He said, “Methuen?”
“Hmm?”
“My father is sending guards out to get you.”
“Guards!” came the reply, and then, the little ear make a high pitched sound.
“Oh, boy, that didn’t sound good.” he mumbled, he then put the “ear” back up to his ear so that he could listen he heard people calling Methuen’s name, and guessed that it was the others chasing after him. Why? He had no clue whatsoever.
“Come, back here you short guard person!” Methuen yelled.
“Methuen that is not a guard.” The others echoed.
“Guard! Stop! I am going to shrink you!” yelled Methuen’s voice.
“Methuen! Stop!” yelled the others.
“I Methuen of the Order of the Protection of the Royal Family, bid you to stop!” yelled Methuen.
“Where did that come from?” asked James into the “ear.”
“Oh, be quiet, will you your majesty?” asked Methuen, “I’m chasing after a little guard in a dress, so you must excuse me for a little while.”
“A what guard in a what?” asked James, quite certain that he had heard wrong.
“A LITTLE guard in a DRESS!” yelled Methuen, “Your majesty, please stop talking!”
“As you wish,” said James. He still held the earpiece up to his ear, though. He wanted to know what was going on.
“Hosily! Help!” yelled a high- pitched voice.
“What’s the mat- oh!” said another voice, “Sir, please stop! That is my little-oomph!”
There was a crash on the other end. James pushed it farther in his ear, because the talking became quite quiet.
“Oh, Methuen!” came Collins voice, “Sorry, miss, may I help you up?”
“No, I’m quite all right.” said the new voice.
“Sorry, but Methuen thinks that the little girl, that is hiding behind the tree, is a guard.” came Aralina’s voice.
“AH!!!!!!” Methuen screamed, and there came a sound that sounded like Methuen ran into a tree.
“Eek!” screamed the high-pitched voice.
Soon after that, sounds of a scuffle came out of the ear piece. Then, Collin, who was sounding tired, said, “Methuen,I would appreciate it if you would stop running around, or else, I might have to capture the guards myself.”
James thought that Collin was going crazy, until he realized that Collin was actually quite smart with how he stopped Methuen from shrinking the high-pitched person.
“My name is Hosily, and this is my little sister. Her name is Hopelian.” said the older sounding new voice.
“She is very cute,” said Simolia’s voice.
“Methuen, will you please help Megdelia, now?” asked Collin.
“Fine.” said Methuen, and there was another high-pitched sound. Then,
“Finally! Methuen, please don’t ever do that to me again!” said Megdelia’s voice.
“Hmph.” said Methuen.
“Miss!” said another voice, and this one sounded a bit like the one in James dream. The voice that was talking to his sister.
“Jolent!” Aralina exclaimed.
“I followed you as fast as I could. The king thinks that I was in on the plot to capture Princess Katalia.” said the voice.
“Oh, Jolent, we know you weren’t,” said Kaliea, “Darius just used you.”
“Thank you, miss,” said Jolent.
“Well, welcome to my tree,” said Hosily, “As you can see, I am an elf, so I live in a tree with my sister. Would you all like to come inside for some tea?”
“That would be lovely,” said Kaliea.
“But-” said Collin, but he was cut off.
“It’s the least we can do.” said Megdelia, “Especially after Methuen tried to shrink your sister.”
“Oh, well then, come on in.” said Hosily, and James couldn’t hear any more after that. Apparently, Methuen had put it in his pocket.
He heard his mother coming to check on him, so James quickly laid back against the pillows, closed his eyes, and quickly fell asleep.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
“That was some wonderful tea!” said Megdelia. They had finished the tea that Hosily had made, and were getting ready to continue their journey.
“You can take some with you.” said Hosily. “I have food that you can take as well. My father knows King Minas, and they are good friends. I hope you find the princess. If you need me, just call. Elves have good ears you know, so as long as you are within five miles, I will be able to hear you.”
“Elves have very good ears then.” said Simolia.
“Well, they make up for us not having wings.” said Hosily, she paused as if listening then she turned to the group her eye’s wide. “Wait. Someone is coming. It’s the king’s guards. Quickly, hide somewhere!”
Megdelia and Aralina hid behind one tree. Simolia and Kaliea quickly climbed another. Jolent sat behind a rock, and Prince Collin dragged Methuen, who was giving quite a fight to go shrink the guards, behind a different tree.
About a minute later, the guards came charging through the underbrush.
“Where are the fairies, the gnome, and the magician?” asked one of the guards.
Hosily shrugged, “Um, I don’t know what you are talking about sir.”
“Then you wouldn’t mind if we checked your house.” said another guard.
“I wouldn’t mind at all.” said Hosily, with another shrug. As soon as the guards were inside the house, she turned to where the others were hiding and nodded her head. They all made a break for it, and Hosily waited a little while, before screaming to the guards.
“Help!” she cried, after she was sure the grou phad a long head start.
“What is it?” demanded the guards, all running out of the house.
“They ran that way!” she screamed pointing,”If you hurry, you may catch them!”
The guards took off after the group.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
“Hurry!” cried Megdelia, who was in the lead.
“Jolent, can’t you run faster?” asked Simolia.
“No.” puffed the gnome.
“I got this,” said Collin, “Methuen, go up to the front. Lead them.”
“Collin, we need you. We aren’t leaving you behind.” said Aralina, stopping all together.
“No, you aren’t. Just keep running. I’ll carry Jolent. You guys fly. Methuen can run. I can fly, and if Jolent gets too heavy, then I will run.” said Collin.
“Well, then, hurry! I can see the guards!” said Simolia.
The girls took off flying, with Megdelia still in the lead. Methuen was right behind them, and right behind Methuen, was Collin, carrying Jolent.
Suddenly, there came a cry from the back. The girls looked behind, to see Collin and Jolent both tumbling from the air, into the dirt.
“Collin! Are you allright?” yelled Megdelia.
“I’m fine. Why did you do that?” asked Collin, getting to his feet.
“I’m sorry your highness, but I must do this.” said Jolent.
“What are you talking about?” asked everyone.
“We have to hurry!” said Aralina, “The guards are close behind!”
Jolent shook his head, and grabbed Collin by the wrist. Collin started to twist his hand, so that Jolent would let go, but the gnome took a little pouch out of his pocket, and held fast onto Collins wrist. The prince’s eyes widened, though Megdelia wasn’t sure why.
Jolent shook the open bag at Collin. A bright yellow dust spilled out into Collins face.
“No, you wouldn’t-” and that’s all Collin was able to say, before he tumbled to the dirt, again.
“Collin!” screamed all the girls. Methuen was still running.
“I’m sorry.” said Jolent, again, and in a flash of bright red light, he and the prince disappeared.
“Collin! Jolent!” shouted Simolia.
“Come on!” yelled Kaliea. “Jolent took Collin somewhere. We can figure out that sometime other than right now. The guards are-”
The guards burst through the bushes, and the girls flew off again, after Methuen.

Katalia woke up, and screamed. On the end of her bed, sat Uncle Darius.
“Oh, hello dear. It’s quite late, and I was hoping that you would wake up earlier.”
“Then why didn’t you just wake me up?” asked Katalia.
“I thought that you wouldn’t appreciate it.” said Uncle Darius.
“I don’t know. I might appreciate it more, than you just sitting on the end of my bed, just watching me.” said Katalia stiffly.
“Hm, yes, well, I have something to show you, so could you please get changed? There are some clothes on that chair over in the corner.” Darius said, with a little evil smile on his lips.
Katalia wondered what her uncle was up to. A little voice in her head said, “Who cares? Just do what he says.”
She got up, after her uncle left, and put on the new clothes. The new outfit was a black tunic, with a black cloth belt, with black leggings, and black boots that went up her legs, to about a half-inch below her knees.
After she was dressed, she tried to open her door, but it was locked, so she knocked.
The door opened, and Darius was standing there.
“Hello, dear. Good to see you again.” he said.
“Why do you like black so much?” was Katalia’s response.
“I don’t know. I just do. Maybe I like it, because that is the color that is affiliated with pain, or hopelessness.” he said, giving her a smile.
For some reason, he didn’t seem quite as evil as he used to seem to Katalia. She was wary anyway, though.
Uncle Darius brought Katalia through many rooms, until they were at the dungeons again. Katalia drew back, expecting, Darius to put her back in her cell, but he just smiled, and took her hand, and pulled her into the dungeons. She was not at all ready for what she saw.
“Kat?” asked a voice.
Katalia drew in a deep breath, and closed her eyes. It was Collin. She stepped forward, and looked into the cell. Collin was sitting against the wall. He looked tired, hungry, and shocked.
“Collin, are you alright?” asked Katalia, stepping up to the bars. She knew it was a stupid question, and wasn’t surprised when Collin didn’t answer.
“How did you get here?” she asked instead.
“Jolent.” he answered.
“But, he was nice! I mean, he told us that Uncle Darius was going to try to kill my father!”
“It must have been some kind of trick, Kat. But why did your uncle not put you in the dungeon? And what are you wearing?”
“Oh, um, I don’t know why my uncle took me out of the dungeon. And for some reason, my uncle likes to give me new outfits every day, and if I don’t want to wear them, he doesn’t get very happy.”
“I see.” said Collin.
“Well, Katalia, I think that you have had a nice enough meeting with your handsome prince, and right now, I think that you should take a walk outside.” said Uncle Darius, who had been standing right behind Katalia the entire time.
“No, please let me talk to him! COLLIN!” she screamed as her Uncle started to drag her away.
“OK,” her uncle said as he stopped walking, “If I let you come back and visit for an unlimited amount of time will you go for a walk?”
Katalia looked at her uncle
“That is Methuen, no doubt about it,” he mumbled.
There was silence from the other end. He said, “Methuen?”
