“I missed him more than you!” Aubrey yelled, trying to pull Lina off of Jake.
“Nuh uh, I missed him mo dan both you.” Libby cried out, trying to tug Jake to her.
“A little help here mom.” Jake rasped out and Sammy looked at her brothers and sisters.
“Where’s mom?”
“In the kitchen with dad.” Alissa said then looked to Jake.
“You’re not going to help him are you?” She looked down as her son quickly became crushed under a mountain of Greene’s.
“Nah, he wanted to come.” Chapter 2
Sammy made her way through the large house that was large enough to house at least 3 packs. When Luna had turned five and her parents, by adoption, realized that their family was quickly growing they realized they couldn't stay with the Houston pack anymore. So, saying their final goodbye's, they hightailed it out of there and moved to the neighboring state. All of the pack bad followed, though, because Thomas hadn't wanted to neglect his Alpha duty.
"Is that my favorite daughter I hear?" Molly, her adopted mother yelled from some room down the hall.
"No, this isn't Luna. But this is your first daughter to give you grandkids." Sammy said half heartedly. Everyone knew that LunaRosa was Molly's favorite child, Sammy would try her best to hide how much that knowledge ached her heart, but a wolf could only do so much.
"Oh my dear sweet lord!!! Samantha!! It's been ages!!" Her mother yelled coming from the room all the way at the end of the long hall.
"Mom, I was here last month." Sammy said jokingly, making her mother roll her eyes and suck Sammy into a vaccum tight hug.
"Is my grandson here? Or are you trying to hide him from us... Again." Sammy had tried to protect her son from the craziness of the Greenes, not hide him from them true. Sometimes he did the hiding all on his own, refusing to come to what many people in this town referred to as the 'looneybin'.
"He's downstairs getting mauled by your children." She said with a slight wave of her hand, shrugging a shoulder.
"And... You're letting.this happen?" Molly asked, her brow crinkling in confusion.
"He wanted to come."
"He.. wanted to... Come?" Molly repeated slowly, her arms slinking jack to her sides.
"He's worried about me." Sammy said, wringing her hands.
"Why would he have reason to worry? Sam, why are you skirting around this? What's going on? Do I need to get your father?"
"He's already here, now what's this I hear about my grandson being worried?" Thomas asked, coming from the same room. Sammy knew it was going to have to come out.
"I've been feeling him. Dreaming about him and that day. Apparently I scream for Jake to come back. Jj's wolf tells him that I need him. He's losing sleep because of whatever the hell is happening to me. I was hoping you guys could help or keep him here for a couple of days so he can get some sort of rest."
"We can't help but we can keep him here for a few days.". Thomas said as he rubbed the bridge of his nose.
"W-why can't we help her?!" Molly damn near screeched, her eyes churning with determination.
"Because she's suffering from withdrawals. We can't help with that." Thomas said warily, suddenly feeling all of the feelings he had felt during his withdrawals. Nausea, insomnia, agitated, hot tempered and most of all tired.
"Well who can?" His mate asked, her voice laced with determination and anger at her pups pain.
"Jake. Only Jake can help her with that."
Brandon grunted as he held the two sisters apart. They didn’t make it easy for him either, kicking and pulling and scratching. He didn’t know how the fight started, he just knew it was going down. One minute Lina and Aubrey were calm, and on other sides of the living room, and then bam! They were at each others throats, scratching and growling. JJ sat back on the couch with the oldest, watching the two youngest fight over absolutely nothing.
“How long do you think they’ll last?” Jesses, asked, his emerald eyes watching the movements of the two pups in front of them.
“Last time it lasted until dad came down and broke it up. But dad is upstairs talking with the eldest and mom. He won’t come down for a simple fight.” Cara said, then looked at her siblings with big green eyes that flashed to amber for a second, revealing her mischievous thoughts.
“I say we give him something to come down for.” She looked to Rosa who wore a similar look to hers. The oldest stood up as a unit and snuck to the kitchen. They weren’t really ‘allowed’, per se, into the kitchen without adult supervision. A little incident last Halloween. It wasn’t their fault that they had added way too much baking soda. The printer had smudged the writing. They thought it said two cups, when really it said two teaspoons. And, again, it wasn’t their fault that the food coloring was too strong and stained the youngest’s face. What were they doing near the pot, why were they eating things that tasted solely like baking soda?! Before they could even make it to the threshold of the kitchen a blur tackled them down and they groaned automatically knowing who it was.
“JJ dude, you know I love you right? But the more you use your speed, the more I’m starting to hate you. You don’t wanna be on my list, bro, you do not want to be on my list.” Jesse said, making them all roll their eyes.
“You guys have to stay in the living room. You’re not allowed in the kitchen with out grandma or grandpa or Brandon.” JJ said, not letting the lot of them up.
“You guys to have to stay in the living room. You’re not allowed in the kitchen without grandma or grandpa or Brandon.” Cara said in a whiney voice, making them snicker.
“Are you gonna let us up?” Alissa asked, being on the bottom she was kind of uncomfortable.
“No, because you guys are either gonna run into the kitchen, or you’re going to try to fight me, or both. I’m not stupid.” JJ said, putting all his weight on them. They groaned and tried to escape, but he merely pushed down more.
“Fine! We’ll sit back on the couch like good little wolves!” Cara growled, not liking being under pressure one bit.
“I don’t believe that at all, I think that you’re going to-“
“JJ, we’re leaving!” Sammy growled, storming down the stairs and straight to the door. JJ shot up, his wolf sensing something wrong with their mother.
“Sammy! You can’t just run every time he’s mentioned!” Molly said, running down after her, with her mate in tow.
“Don’t tell me what I can and can’t do! I’m 19 mom, I can make my own damn decisions. I decide to leave before I punch something. I also decide I don’t need him for anything. I’ve been fine on my own for the past 8 years! Why is this happening now?!” Sammy turned and yelled at her parents.
“Because, this is the time a normal wolf finds their mate. You’ve already met yours, your wolf is feeling lonely. That’s what’s causing it. You’re wolf is dreaming about him and it causes her pain, the closest wolf next to you, because your mate and your father are Alpha’s, will come to see what’s wrong. JJ just happens to be the closest wolf next to you and your pup, he will console you. He will lose sleep and his wolf will become vile and ill tempered. We understand if you leave… I understand if you leave, but you can’t take him with you right now. Not if you want him to be happy.” Everyone stilled at the last sentence and tears pricked Samantha’s eyes.
“You want me to give him to you? You want me to give my son to you!? All that I have!?” She shrieked, her heart breaking at the news. JJ shook his head and started to walk toward his mom. A small hand stopped him from going, he looked down to see Cara with a frown on he face shaking her head softly. Another hand fell on his other shoulder that belonged to Jesse.
“It’s for the best that he stays with us. Don’t you want him to be happy? Don’t you want his wolf to grow normally, and not through having to care for you?”
“Don’t! Don’t play that game with me! It’s for the best that he stays with his mom!”
“Is it for the best to see his mom in pain, constantly, all day every day?” Sammy quieted as tears fell down her cheeks.
“He’s all that I have dad.” She whispered, afraid that more yelling would break her already fragile heart.
“I know, love, but he has to stay with us.” She nodded in defeat and walked to her son. He looked so much like the mate who had walked out on her eight years ago, sometimes it pained her. His black hair, that he had made go over his eyes, was naturally spikey. How he managed to comb it down and not have it sticking out marveled her. His blue eyes watched her with wary eyes as she grew closer. His wolf didn’t like the fact that their mother was crying, didn’t like that their mother was in pain.
“I have to go, Ok baby? You’re gonna be alright here. Your grandmother and grandfather will take of you, so will your uncles and aunts. Someday-“
“No! You can’t leave me! I won’ let you!” He shrieked, a tear flying from hi eye.
“Baby, this has to be done. This is for you-“
“Don’t lie to me. This is for you, because you’re just like him. Things are getting rough and people are telling you things, so you leave! I won’t let you, though! Because you love me and you don’t want to leave me!” He yelled to her breaking her heart even more. She got to her knees in front of him and kissed his forehead.
“Baby-“
“Don’t baby me!”
“This is for you!!” She boomed, silencing him. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes.
“This is for you.” She said again softly.
“You know I’m not one to break promises. I don’t wanna hurt you but I need to breath. At the end of it all you’re still my best friend, but there’s something inside that I need to release. Which way is right, which way is wrong, how do I say that I need to move on. You know we headed separate ways.” She sang to him softly, she heard the soft gasp come from her mother, but she focused on her words. She focused on calming him and telling him that she need to go.
“You’ve given me more than I can return, but there’s oh so much that you deserve. There’s nothing to say, nothing to do. I’ve nothing to give, I must leave without you. You know we headed separate ways. I have to go, baby, I can’t stay. This is for you. If you got hurt, I couldn’t live with myself. I’m sorry. I’m just… so sorry.” She said to him softly, wrapping him in a hug. She wouldn’t see him anytime soon, she couldn’t until she got her
